@Corteslatinodude It really doesn't matter with the barnacles.... it they wanna stick 2 somethingthey will..... They make this really strong substance that binds them just as tightly as nail glue does to fake nails... lol...have you ever seen them be removed??? that's why they're so hard to get off
barnacles can be a death sentence for wild crustaceans if not dealt with. they take root wherever they can, and they breed to cover more. once they get in around the joints they can limit the mobility of their victim which can prevent them from eating, defending themselves from potential predators, or moltong.

Crustaceans and other arthropods don’t really ‘feel’ their exoskeleton (it’s just made of chitin and proteins) but they do like ‘feel through it’ with these little hairs full of nerve endings called setae. The nerve endings in a crab’s ‘shell’ are only in these specialized sensory organs and not the ‘shell’ itself.

I had a giant NT northern prawn about 20 years ago, apart from my old dog he is the best pet I've ever had. He grew to 16inches in the body, same in the claws. He destroyed everything i put in with him, crayfish, anything.y ex wife "accidentally" killed it by knocking out the power for the air pump. He's buried in my backyard in a homemade coffin.

True but most spider venom doesn't harm us humans its mostly effective towards other insects. Other than a select few spider venoms that can harm/kill us (god forbid you're allergic 😅) most bites just simply sting for a bit then goes away.

I love your channel not just because you saved that crab, but because you show it’s behavior that most people would never know about. Most of the time people see blue crab in either a bucket or in a grocery store fish tank piled 4 deep on top of eachother. They just sit there, unmoving, and I think most people just assume that’s how they are all the time. Watching Blue scratch her back on the rock after eating is something I’ve never seen a crustacean do before. She has so much personality for a creature that is most often relegated to being bait or food.
That claw belongs to a type of crab that eats other crabs. That crusher claw would punch right through her shell. She probs thought its owner was in the area somewhere.
Blue is a little bit calcium defficient, i can tell because she has a hole in one of her pincers, it’s a problem for most crabs in captivity. the solution is very simple, feed her a calcium-rich diet (try invertebrates like brittlestars, they are full of calcium! or you can try any eggs/gonads you find when cleaning fish guts, that will also do the trick but it makes a huge oily mess in the tank) after a while, she will surpise you by not eating for a few days up to a week and then she will molt! hope this helps 😊
