One of my original favorites from when I started listening. I believe they were often real, they had a couple string players that I believe recorded and toured for the string heavy songs.
Def need to check out some of their more recent stuff: Legendary, Not Gonna Die, Finish Line, Ignite, Back to Life, Standing in the Storm.
Also take a look at John and Seth's side project Fight the Fury, and Jen's Ledger project.
