I hadn't played since 2001, but my best friend and I used to play this game every week for a few years straight. I dug my old cards out of the closet recently and used this video to help teach my daughter how to play so we could enjoy it together. I really appreciate how clear you made everything, and it really helped it all come back to me.
I would like to agree, having not played the game since uni I thought I would play with my own kids and lttile did I realise how many silly mistakes we used to make. Thanks for the video and the effort you put in - it is much appreciated.
I thought you did a wonderful job doing your walkthrough of the game. I'd love to see you do more videos of maybe the expansions and going through some of the more in-depth rule sets. You do a good job of explaining things and I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate such videos. Thank you again!
Haven't played this game in about 20 years, but I always held on to the cards because they were just so cool! I want to try playing the game again soon.
I bought these since they came out in the mid 90s with a friend. We couldn't afford to collect them all so we split the cost with a gentlemens agreement and I kept all the dark side cards and he kept the light side. So I have half a game. 25 years later he has all his cards still and we play every few years.
Thank you for the refresher video! I had most of those limited cards and when my parents moved out of their house about a year ago they got rid of my cards. Time to start a new collection and get ready for my young kids to grow up and learn with me!
If you play Attack Run, you don’t have to rely on the dark side player to bring a Death Star. The light Side has a version of the death star they can bring. Great idea about adjusting the deck size to desired play time. Would like to have seen more discussion about deck building.
Thank you for this video! Just bought the premier starter decks, and this is a great companion to the rule book! Your video definitely helped with some of my confusion.
Never knew about this game until I picked up a premier box at Goodwill that had almost 350 cards in it. I've since constructed the sample decks that came in the box (found a deck list on BGG) and now I just need to know how to play!
Great to see you Back! I wish you’d re-release your video of cleaning Star Wars figures in that lovely sunny garden it’d be awesome. That was my go to chill out vid! Peace!
A correction: Losing a character for its forfeit value satisfies BOTH attrition and battle damage. When you forfeited the Imperial with the forfeit value of 4 to satisfy the attrition of 3, you had also satisified the battle damage of 3. Dark side did not need to lose more cards after that.
Again during the third battle: Dark side had 3 attrition and 7 battle damage to satisfy. The attrition means that out of that 7 battle damage, 3 must be satisfied by forfeiting one or more characters with a total forfeit value of at least 3. After you had forfeited the Imperial for forfeit value 3, you only had 4 more battle damage to satisfy. It's important to understand that attrition is NOT loss in addition to battle damage, it is damage that must be satisfied by forfeiting characters (even if you don't have battle damage to satisfy; it kinda simulates that even though you win a battle, you're still likely to lose soldiers on the battlefield, which is what happened to the light side in that battle).
@@rickadams No problem. Just wanted to clear that up for anyone watching the video to learn the game. Attrition can be a hard concept of the game to wrap your head around. When Decipher made their follow-up game to Star Wars after losing the license, they actually streamlined how attrition worked a bit to make it less confusing. That game unfortunately bombed pretty much out of the gate. Also, another minor correction: When you replace a character with a different version, the version that was replaced goes to your Lost Pile, not into hand. And one final thing: Even though the game "died" when Decipher lost the license in 2001, an official Players Committee was set up to carry on the game. This committee designs and releases so-called "virtual cards" that you can download and print for free and play with. They've managed to keep this "dead" game alive for 18 years with a considerable amount of people still playing it! There are both real-life and online tournaments being played. There's currently an online tournament going on that has 80 people signed up for it! You can visit the Players Committee website at www.starwarsccg.org. I recently got back into the game after 20 years when I came across the GEMP platform ( gemp.starwarsccg.org/gemp-swccg/ ) where you can play online. It's amazing stuff.
Another couple of considerations regarding attrition: Immunity of a character to attrition does not preclude you from forfeiting that character to attrition in a battle. You may voluntarily forfeit a character who has immunity to the amount of attrition during a battle. The immunity only means that you are not forced to, even if it means some of the attrition is not satisfied. Additionally, immunity to attrition is with respect to the total amount of attrition - not the attrition remaining after forfeiting other cards first. For example, if your opponent drew battle destiny of 4 in a battle, and you have two characters in that battle - one with a forfeit value of 2, and the other with a forfeit value of 3 but immunity to attrition
Love the Video! I was mostly into the Star trek ccg but always wanted to play the star wars one. thanks for the run-down! I have now begun collecting star wars ccg. I see you have Emperor Palpatine, that is a $100+ card! save those cards! worth money! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video. Someone sold one of those boxes of "premiere" introductory card boxes for like 20 bucks at a used game store so I picked it up just because I loved the original star wars as a kid and wanted to see how it was, but I had no idea how to play.
Being an avid star wars CCG player looking but not playing in years i was screaming at the video @26:32 you could of spent 1 more force using han solo to cancel your drawn destiny and then draw again .
I still collect these cards! Found out there was a community of people that play virtually online. Big mistake for me!😂 The players have gotten SO competitive. WOW! I guess the personalities go hand-in-hand with the inherent complexity of the ruleset.🤷♂️ Anyway, beautiful card game, itself, though. Thanks for video!

SWCCG is the real shit, forget about that ugly TCG from WotC, curse LucasArts for selling the rights... btw I think you did a mistake in gameplay: 22:50 dark side suffers 3 attrition and gets 3 battle damage -> forfeiting that imperial for value of 4 will satisfy both, attrition and battle damage! ;-) Greetings from Germany
Awesome video buddy. Some much nostalgia from my youth still remember the day decipher lost the license. I found my starwars cards. In middle school this game was way too complex/NOT fun to play. Now that I'm old, this game still sucks, but I don't have the heart to throw my cards in the trash where they belong.

Thanks! Attrition is included in battle damage. It would be helpful to go over how a big part of the game is not leaving yourself open for beatdowns.

Yes it's a shame they lost the licence. I would love them to resurrect it and do the new SW live action content that's been released since.
Id love to see a swccg collection video in the future
