    Your intro to the article is hilarious: "a special guide, one that can be accidentally on purpose placed in front of your loved ones, with a prominent red circle around it, perhaps the odd spot light." :)

    To add on to the lightfastness discussion Mary Englebright is having a show at Green Door Gallery in MO and her alcohol marker with prismacolor pencil illustrations are selling for over $1000. They have been framed and displayed in her home, some since the 1970s and fading was minimal and they are selling like hotcakes. I listened to an interview with her and the gallery and lightfastness never came up. I think RUclips artists are more concerned with this than old school artists are 😆 im not saying it isn't important but maybe not AS important as its made to be.

    Hey Harry! Great list! I filmed my gift guide yesterday (posting it tomorrow) and we jave some of the dame pics which makes me more confident in my choices too. That easel with drawers would be good for an artist with a small workspace too. Ive not seen that before. I hope you have a great holiday season! We have Thanksgiving this week then it's non stop til Christmas!

    I bought a small set of Lyra pencils secondhand on eBay a year or so ago and really liked them. Then a few weeks ago I managed to buy a full 72 set, mostly unused, some barely used, at a very good price. Everyone loves a bargain. I’m no exception. They have been handed over for wrapping. I’m going to enjoy those.

    Great list, I've found that by purchasing "budget friendly" sets and finishing them up with a fixative spray and uv protective sealant to be a great pairing and allows me to proudly display any finished pieces I create on my walls or as a flip thru coffee table book.👍❤ The fixative also works great with white gel pens to stop color bleeding thru if I need a stark white highlight.

    • @themaddtatter6679
      @themaddtatter6679 2 года назад +1

      I personally use a Workable Fixatif (as an in between and top coat) and UV- Resistant Clear acrylic coating (as a permanent top coat) sprays both from Krylon brand. The uv spay I use is in gloss, but the brand also makes the clear spray in matte and semi gloss I believe. 👍🤞 hope that was helpful.

    I need to find me a leprechaun and his pot of gold to fulfill my art supplies wish list. One thing on that list is for you to redo your Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencil review and get rid of any mention of infamous "breakage problem". ALL pencils can break for numerous reasons. It's the nature of the mm. small size of a pencil core. I've used Prismas for about ten years and have had one (1) core break. Enough said on that matter. Have a happy, peaceful, healthy holiday season Harry.

      Koh-i-Noor will never disappoint you. I have Polycolors, Mondeluz, Triocolors, Progressos (permanent) and Progresso watercolor pencils (they are a little tricky and have to practice before getting their best) and I can’t complain.

    Love my Meedan drawers, but got the easel drawer combo a few weeks back and it was infuriating how poorly made it was, and then the replacement was worse! So yeah it's sad for the price for sure. But their reg. Drawers are fabulous.

    • @TheArtGearGuide
      @TheArtGearGuide  Год назад +1

      I am so sorry to hear this, what was the issue, where the draws sticking? The reason I ask is because I was fortunate enough that I had one bought for me and I love it and use it all the time.
      I know the wood they use to make them with is low grade, but that is beside the point, they should still work and not cause problems for the artist as the one you have clearly is. Did you contact them about the replacement? And if yes what was their response.
      The reason I am asking is because I feel it is part of a reviewers job to hold companies accountable by calmly and professionally gather the information and presenting it to them in order for them to fix the problem. As reviewers we have a platform to make sure that when an artist pays money for a product if it is faulty and the company is not doing anything to rectify the problem then we need to find out why.
      I know they have already sent you a replacement which is good, but if the replacement is worse, it was on the company to double check the replacement being sent to an artist with an already faulty product, was in full working order. But as this didn’t happen, have you reached back out to them and explained the situation.
      Let me know and we will see what we can do to politely and professionally get a resolve. In my experience these things don’t happen on purpose, which is no real comfort to the artist, but companies don’t want to look bad ever, and that is not my intent either, I’d rather write a piece about how good their customer service department is and they are at resolving issues making life easier for their customer the artist and themselves.

      @@TheArtGearGuide splinters EVERYWHERE, like scary painful bad, misaligned clips/closure clamp things, partially unglued sides and dividers and bent up and crooked hinges and more. Even the replacement was just as bad. Had to spend over an hour hand sanding, covering in adhesive felt, and taking the best hardware and drawers etc from each to combine into one useable/worth keeping drawer/easel combo. But it's ok now, just wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Plus it's quite a bit wider than their drawers so it doesn't stack well at all. It works for my pastel work etc. But I'd say spend a bit more and get better quality if possible.

      @@TheArtGearGuide and of course, I totally get it. I'm slowly (ok, very slowly) getting my channel finally going (seperate from this one, this is my personal/main LLC name, I chose to keep my artist/educator/reviewer channel completely seperate so my massive history of comments, playlists etc doesn't crowd or interfere with my channels interface etc.) Anyways, point is, yeah ask away of course, I'll answer as best I can, I apologize if I miss some questions etc. It's 2am here and my 18mo old only fell asleep like 20 min ago (not normal at all. So I'm a bit out of it hahaha) but yeah I got the replacement from Amazon and did as I mentioned above but it's still not near perfect, I still can't shut and clip closed the bottom most drawer, still sliding issues, and wood damage etc in random places. But it's still useable and I was able to makeshift it well enough for my needs. So it's ok, I'd just not recommend. Especially when the replacement came and it was just as bad as the first one. Made me quite sad. Lol

      @@TheArtGearGuide sorry so many messages, but i keep rereading and catching more stuff i missed, ahaa forgive me. Totally off today. But you're always so sweet. And agreed, I always try to give the brand a shot at providing quality custom service and rectify the situation before I ever let my audience know anything good, bad or both, about the product and the company itself. But I haven't bothered contacting meedan directly yet, it has been on the to do list, but just not as big a deal as other issues I've had to contact other companies about. Especially as I do technically use the product already and made it work but I did take photos so I may reach out to them at some point to see how they would normally respond etc. If I do and get a response I'll absolutely forward to you if you'd like? So you can see how their customer service handles themselves and their customers. :)

      Tiffany I just read the bit about your little baby just going to sleep 20 minutes ago, I remember those nights vividly, you go and get what sleep you can and we can chat later about this, but you should never in a month of Sundays have to sand a product down to make it safe, that is terrible. We will chat late and get some sleep
