People are so sensitive. I love when someone with personality comes in and calls people out. You played a part in growing the sport here in America big time.
My first exposure to Sam Long was at Daytona 2020. I was a chase rider for the TV broadcast crew, so my announcer and I got to spend a lot of time riding next to Sam (we're the ones on the motorcycle at 10:24 ). I took notice of how the crowd was so energized by his presence, and I thought to myself "I need to watch this guy." Many events later, I can say that Sam, Lionel, and Jan are some of my favorites to watch. And I'm fortunate enough that I've been able to ride right next to them and watch them in action!
Hey Sam! You really have motivated me to push myself in all my training. Ive been following you for awhile now and I really look up to you in how you carry yourself especially when you dusted yourself off and regrouped after a bad race or getting hit my a car in your training. My motto is "Never Quit". The military really beat this mentality in to us and it changed my life when times were tough and I was able to incorporate the Never Quit mindset into my training as well as my life. David Goggins helped me a lot too. Anyway, keep being you and I wish you all the best at St George!
PTO is so incredible for the sport. Every time a new video comes up they truly unleash the character of the person in the video! Its amazing fo follow this journey.
I think the collins cup has been a difficult but important lesson for Sam. There are always levels. And if they are not there today, then they will be in the future. I think Jan is the best at getting race day right and with investing in longevity - two things that will be important for Sam too.

The mt lemmon beef introduced Sam to me. I root for a group of triathletes. Lionel, hoff, sam and everyone else. I am not necessarily crazy about sam’s style but I cheer for him. I also believe a group of people will be attracted to this sport because of him. How wonderful is that!
I like Sam a lot. People hate on him for talking smack but that’s part of being a competitor. There’s no doubt in my mind that Sam would be one of those guys to fully take a DNF if he saw his competitor hurt themselves during a race. He’s not shy and it’s honestly refreshing. Triathlon needed a personality here in the states and that’s what Sam is. He’s putting in crazy work lately too. Don’t sleep on Sam Long.

Sam, you do NOT have a prove a thing - why do u even take this to heart. Your personalty is just perfect. You are the best USA IRONMAN. Josh and Sam are no where near you. They should be so embarrassed to even be on the start line, can swim but cant bike and run to save his .... Sam A is not worth his words. Dont change!
