    Fun fact: Gutter oil now in Mainland China are mostly collected to be exported to the US, more than 2 million tons a year.

      @@ForAllLifesAdventures Yes, that's why many countries in NA and EU are importing gutter oil from Mainland China, and that's why talking about using gutter oil to cook in China now is nonsense, it is way more profiting from selling those offshore than using those to cook.

    Our processed foods is relatively affordable, our Whole foods is very expensive. We promote processed foods simply because there's more profit from it. Once again, it's all about the Benjamins.

    I thought you'd be debating and debunking the gutter oil issue (which does not necessarily appear to be complete fabrication - even though it has been obviously blown out of proportion and hijacked by the usual China haters) and provide some fine examples of the variety and health benefits of home-grown Chinese food. But instead, we are seeing our good friend Iain salivating over yummy (but JAPANESE) sashimi. (Which, BTW, I also like - but you could have as well shown us Iain salivating over KFC which is the most popular fast food restaurant in China. 😉)

    • @ForAllLifesAdventures
      @ForAllLifesAdventures  2 дня назад +1

      Yeah, fair comment. But it is hard to find any gutter oil examples… mmmm - the KFC has a wide menu in China and it is different from what you see in the west. But, you are correct, it is very popular in China. The ice cream is the same tho, and the machines work… or is that McD’s?

    • @befeleme
      @befeleme 2 дня назад +2

      @@ForAllLifesAdventures It's the McD's ice cream machines that usually don't work because McD's has stitched up the franchises to some pretty unhealthy exclusive maintenance agreements.
      Yes, KFC is actually better in China. It sucks here in Melbourne - I look forward to have some in Beijing when I am there next time.
      And hey, why don't you tell us something about the famous Beijing yoghurt? Or haven't you discovered it yet? I am missing it terribly; there is simply nothing like it. It deserves a video of its own!

      @@ForAllLifesAdventures There is only one "Beijing yogurt". It's a probiotic drink - tastes a bit like kefir but not quite. It's ubiquitous in Beijing and comes in little white (returnable) ceramic jars with blue tops. You drink it with a straw. Have one for me today, please. It's healthy and yummy! 🙂

      From what I see in China, food production and preparation is well monitored - if you put into context how much central food is to life in Chine, if a place serves bad food or using dodgy ingredients, they would not last past a week. People wouldn’t go there!!
