I'm Thai. I've been living in the US for 18 years. If you are not planning to move to the US in near future, don't apply for a green card for Wat. If you have a green card, you need to live in the US more than aboard which means he would have to be in the US for at least 6 months out of a year. I think it's better to apply for tourist visa for Wat. It's multiple entry and valid for 10 years. When applying for tourist visa, you can write a letter to explain your relationship, the purpose and the length of the trip, where he and you will be staying when you go to the US. I find the letter very helpful when my family and friends applied for tourist visa.

Good advise, re: tourist visa, I had a Thai friend (teen) that had a family in the US, had a green card... went back to Thailand for a visit, stayed for 6+ months, came back and lost his green card, due to being gone over 6 months. Furthermore, I believe Wat would be subject to US tax filing requirements, holding a green card. Get him a tourist visa, 10yr multiple entry.

    Hi Lilly,
Watching from your hometown of Annapolis Maryland. I am happy for you that you and your mom get to travel back and forth with each other.
Also the smile on your sisters face when she picked you all up from the airport… one day your entire family can come to the USA for a nice long visit.. it does take time go to the American Embassy and have the consulate help you start the paperwork for Wat, The children don’t need a green card because they are half American. Yeah it takes a long while but they are very helpful so the sooner you start the sooner Wat will be able to go with you for a nice visit. My son and his Thai wife of 21 years and my grandson live in the south of Thailand in a town called Krabi…I loved it there when I visited a few years ago… i’m going to go back one day soon.
Take care Lilly and enjoy your visit back home. God bless you and safe travels going back.

Hi Lilly, It is raining cats and dogs here in Perth. When I migrated to Perth on the 7th of May in 1971. The weather was miserable like today. I love it. I cannot do anything outside, but before I go to sleep tonight. I would have finished my house work, my washing, ironing etc. Now you would be thinking, if it is raining, how could I do my washing and drying, Well I did it yesterday, when I heard the weather for the whole week till next Friday. When the rain stops. The ground will be wet, and I can plant a lot of my fruit trees in the ground. That's enough of me. I am watching this video again, and what I am going to say now has been bugging me all night. Please do not loose any more weight. For your age. Your weight should be around 70 to 75 kg. When I see the video of Chloe. "OUR FIRST NIGHT IN SAIGON'. Chloe said to you, you are on video and you said you do not like photo shoots are you in video. Lilly, God has made each one of us in HIS image and likeness. If you see that video, you will understand what I am saying. Your kids are beautiful. Luke is very handsome and so is Leon, and ofcourse Lila is gorgeous. I liked the way Luke gave his Dad a hug, and Wat said, look after Mum. I am sure you will miss Leon, Lila, Wat, Nam and her son. When ever you return to that beautiful Island. I wish you a safe flight back. Take care, and God Bless.

Hi lily, since you are a US citizen you can sponsor Wat using the spouse IR visa. Look into it. It should be pretty easy because you already have 3 kids as proof of real marriage. Start the paper work and it will ask for proof of your relationship. Once the US embassy reviews it, they will call him in for an interview. If he pass, they will grant him a green card. It can take time but if you start now it will be completed before you know it. Best of luck!

On the contrary, Asian and Middle Eastern Airlines care more about providing top quality services to their customers including the ones flying economy. I refuse to fly Korean air or book a flight thru Korea ever again. I was in Thailand and had a heart attack and had to return to the states. I had paid an extra fee in case i needed to change my return date. When i tried to change my return date they refused to change it. I had to buy a one way ticket back to the states and after arriving in the states they refused to refund my money from the half of the ticket i didn't use. When we landed in Seoul it was supposed to be a 6 hour layover and i was there for 15 hours. They wouldn't tell us why we were delayed but i found out they bring in flights and then delay existing flights until they have enough to fill a flight. They are cheaper than anyone else but i don't like being taken advantage of so now i am willing to pay more to avoid Korean Airline scams.

Since Wat lives in Thailand, you’ll need to apply a spousal visa combo with a green card. The process should take about at least a year. He should be able to get 10-year green card since you guys have been legally married for more than one year. A friend of mine had to travel to US once her visa was approved in order to get her actual green card there. It’s best to contact US embassy, USCIS, or an immigration lawyer because USCIS has updated their rules and fees every now and then. If you plan to hire a lawyer, be sure to choose one with a good reputation.
When he received his green card, he’ll most likely have two options to stay outside of US. First, he’ll have to be in US at least 6 months out of one year. Second, he can apply for re-entry permit, which will allow him to be outside US for two years consecutively. This options only allows him to apply for permit twice, and he must be present in US until he gets his fingerprints before he can leave. The permit can be sent to your mom or sister’s address, and they can send it to you in Thailand.
The reason I knew this is because I was in a process of moving to another country(from US) while having a green card. My lawyer advised me to apply for US citizenship and waited until I got it before moving because for US citizenship application, you must reside in US for some certain amount of time.

Hmmm. Leon going to the US would be for such a short period of time.
It would allow Watt to focus on the real and pressing challenges you’ve been documenting about the restaurant.
It would give Nam a bit of a break and afford the baby more focussed time.
Your mum was travelling too, so could have supported re the journey out.
It would have strengthened the bond between brothers, given Luke a travel buddy and not made overseas trips only for Luke. Look at how much Luke grew up after that first trip.
It was a golden opportunity and one Leon is very lucky to have. It would also have brought Leon’s language skills on by leaps and bounds.
Importantly and significantly, it would have allowed cousins and family members who haven’t met Leon, to know him a little and vice versa.
This feels as if it’s about trust/ underlying insecurities. What is Watt really worried about?
You’ve bought the house now. Is he afraid you’ll see your life together differently? It will separate you in some way as the wider family get to know Leon too? Something is up.
Lots of helpful comments and suggestions re immigration so Watt can travel too.
You’ve talked a lot about these sorts of reasons re why you were not allowed to being Leon last time. He’s your child too. Your family are far away. It’s very clearly about something deeper. Lovely as Watt is, objectively, it’s selfish.
I comment only because you have raised this a number of times in previous videos over the last couple of years.
You’re clearly a great and loving family.

One of the requirements for having a green card is that one has to live in the US for x number of months in the year. In the early 90s and prior it used to be one month, but they changed it to like 6 months or something like that (you can find out the exact details in the immigration website). I know a couple of spouses of Americans who live abroad and used to visit once a year to fullfill the one month requirement lost their green cards. Immigration confisticated the cards at the airport.
One option might be to apply for a multiple entry tourist visa. I think they would be valid for 5 years or something like that?

These concepts should be applied to Lily as well. When she is publicly talking about her staff walking out, or other grievances with people, or the man in the wheelchair at the airport (they where looking at each other smiling and talking crap like middle schoolers) You can’t do those things and then be like only say nice things about me. If you choose to make your life public and get paid for it, people will have opinions about the content you share. Lily is not a victim, she should reflect on her own behavior. This is not just a admire me, stroke my ego format. I am not being mean, like the minions like to say to everyone who is pointing out legitimate facts. Everything I have commented on her younger children is for the good of her family, not bad. She can at least give it thought, sometimes we are blind as parents…
