There is a very special quality of her playing (actually, more like the whole person as she is) that immediately disarms people and makes them to sit back and relax. I don't know what exactly the magic is but she possesses that for sure. She is, surely, at the same level with those greatest ones including Heifetz, Oistrakh, Szeryng etc.
I suspect, Jean, that the magic is the reality of precision she brings to the table. It brings subconscious comfort, and hence we relax, knowing we are hearing what should be, how it should be and that it will be as it should be. I think that's what Hilary brings to the table.
You got it all wrong. Most people like the violin sound because it's so silky and smooth due to the vibrato. It can only be scratchy in the hands of a lesser player, if the violin is of a poor quality, or if a Musica Moderna piece wants it to be raucous-sounding.
@@mr.wrongthink.1325 Awww, that's a bit harsh. I'm sure she'll have lovely offspring and still be a great violinist. And if she is looking for someone to have offspring with, I am willing to make that sacrifice for humanity.
Terrific documentary. Well done. I found Hillary's view on being or not being anxious on stage or for me in front of anyone very interesting and I will have to think about that for some time.
Hilary is the only musician who’s sheer music alone can invoke and bring out such emotion in and from me. I’ve never had something sound so beautiful it made me cry other than Hilary.
Her extreme "down to earth" approach along with her "nerves of steel"... are a GREAT combination to ad with her years of concentrated, disciplined practice... she really is a wonder to behold... and ad to the fact, I THINK (???) she was the one to commission Edgar Meyer to write his stunning new violin concerto... It's my favorite new violin concerto... probably... since the Barber... way back when...
I just love you Hilary! You’re so down to earth and approachable! I love your sense of humor too! Thank you for blessing us with your beautiful personality and gift of playing the violin! ❤❤❤❤
I'm a noob to classical music. I used to not enjoy it, makes me think of unpleasant screeches. Hearing Hilary Hahn, it sounds like mermaids or sirens calling out to me and lulling me to sleep/comfort, a divine yet approachable sound.
"Der Umgang formt den Menschen ", haben wir mal gelernt. Hilary's Umgang sind die 'good vibrations' der Musik. Sie ist ein Abbild der guten Harmonien und gibt diese an ihre Millionen Fans weiter. Just goes to show how long ago that was that she had a teacher smoking cigarettes during lessons !! I can't imagine that has happened for a long time. She is a great person, fluent in German, an amazing violinist/musician and an all-round good egg.
12:29 I somehow have a very hard time imagining Hilary seated in the back row of the second violins lol. It shows everyone has to start from the bottom before they can rise to the top.
If somebody was born with a lot of talent is that really impressive? Or is it more impressive to watch somebody evolve, tap into themselves, and grow? I like Hilary Hahn but she isn’t special. She was born with an innate gift. In a way, I don’t think it really transcends because I’m watching something that a person was born to do.
hilary has said herself she was never a prodigy. maybe she started young or biologically has something in her brain that makes her naturally better at the coordination and technique skills required for music, but she has an excellent study habit and her hard work should not be undermined
She’s like the violinist version of Hermione.
K Lu omg yessssss

Finally!!
I've been looking for this documentary for forever!
Me, too!
I love documentaries. I love Hilary Hahn. Thank the lord she had a documentary- she deserves it. And thank you for sharing it with us :)
Hilary is great and getting even greater. She is also modest and humble and has a very pleasant personality.
After 15 years, she doesnt seem to have aged at all.
I’ve never heard a cleaner violin sound as hers. Many can’t stand the violin sounds because it can be a little scratchy, but never with her.

Isn't she an amazing human being?
This is the most important. I’m so glad to know.
No she's a ling ling
Indeed, she would be, if she were but a human being
No, unless she has kids. Otherwise she is useless for humanity. What she does is done by men at least that good.

9:57 she just described Brett

Such a beautiful tone!! Incredible mastery of her art.
I cannot thank you enough for uploading the rest of the clips! I have been waiting for years for these to come up. And now here they are!

What a spontaneous, informal, fun person! I never would have guessed that from looking at her album covers ....

I watched her playing Korngold at Avery Fisher Hall in 2014. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had!
First seen this on Ovation years ago. I'm glad to see this again. Thank you. 😢😊
welcome to world's Best Violinist as well as musician
This kind of music is essential to me at this time.
Hilary seems to be a lovely, super talented and intelligent person. (Is it just me or does she looks a little bit like Katniss from Hunger Games)
Oh, man, from 3:44 on she's just amazing! Are we blessed or what to be able to take in the breath and life of such beauty of song. Amazing!
@Robert Lee, Countertenor I believe it's the Edgar Meyer Violin Concerto
Korngold Violin Concerto
I don't think that it's just me that cries every time the last movement of any concerto she plays ends. Brava Hilary! I'll name my kid after you
idk why i want to cry when i watch this. im not a violinist tho. idk man- she's amazing
She is the best violinist! Love her sooooo much!!! 😍❤️❤️❤️
Well done Hilary Hahn!!
goose bumps all through that performance!
Like Bruce Lee said put water in a cup water become the cup....her she became the music ........no words to explain her talent so Wowww!!!!
The intro piece is baller!!

This is so sweet.
sophisticated, non-flashy, down-to-earth, she’s definitely Ling Ling.
"Watch out if you play ping-pong against a chinese musician he'll really, beat the crAP out of you." XD
jas.seiji she’d be slammed for racial stereotyping these days lol
😅
With this kind of personality, no matter what her work could have been , she would have done it perfectly!
I think The only Star that can walk calm on public place and camouflaged as normal person,
Sobran las palabras, hay que escuchar su música es inigualable!!! Perfecta!!
My teacher made me watch this and do an assignment on it it's nice👌

Simply the best
An impressive young woman, an impressive violinist.
Спасибо Вам Хиллори. Вы очаровательная женщина и прекрасный музыкант.
No way, SHE was back desk 2nds?? But she’s the best in the world!
Approved.

She is absolutely amazing person and violinist.!!!
So down to earth, as if Hilary is talking to me in a coffee shop, unpretentious and cool. Oh yes, her voice… warm with always a hint of humour ❣️

What's that piece from the beginning of the video?
It's the Meyer violin concerto, 1st movement.
That frightening picture looks like it might be of Marian Anderson as Azucena.
Saw Hong Kong in the preview and entered
My respect to Hongkong people for standing up to fight for true freedom. Please stay safe and I wish all the best to HK!
@@amiedo Well Hongkong has become a huge mess lately due to protesters.

Hilary Hahn ist wuerdig fuer die Welt! Aber ich bezweifle, ob die Welt von heute ist wuerdig fuer Hilary Hahn!

Does someone know what's the piece that's playing during the curtis tour? It is really beautiful but I can't find it
She is the true musical princess of the age in which she has been performing.
Some say that she is related to Ling Ling.
Wooooow.
does anyone know what song was used in this intro?
hi, it's the Meyer violin concerto, 1st movement
@@amiedo Thanks:) have a nice day
Ela é incrível ❤❤
Ling Ling workouts really work!

What is the piece at 13:07? (A little late, but hopefully I get a response)
That is Hilary playing "What Are You Asking Me?" composed by James Howard, for the movie 'The Village'. If you have yet to check it out, you should :)
@@amiedo thank you, I will check it out 😀

Bah, it's preconceived notions like this that never allow you to really be in the moment and experience what you can really do.
