Glad you liked it! This video is not very popular for some reason... I think you're one of the small few people searching for a video on time series smoothing haha. But I'm really glad you found it useful! :)

You don't know how helpful this has been to me! Looked for a simplified version for too long. Thanks

This lady has such a soothing voice that is not monotone like m0ost maths teachers, it is also clear and easy to understand. Thankyou

Thanks for the comment. Glad you find it helpful. I'm glad you can see the cursor too - it's a bit tiny. Thanks!

Thank you very much because this really explained it for me, my lecturer just complicated his explanation using 1/2 of the first value and 1/2 of the last value of the time window and that was so confusing for me when doing the calculation but now i used your method to solve his time series questions and got same values and answers he got. A million thanks for this.

I like the way you move the cursor as you are talking, kind of cool. This is really explained clearly, I am currently doing my Master in Fin Engineering over at Stevens and these videos really really help.
    Thanks

the focus on most of our lessons seems to be questions with a small demonstration only from the text, you have explained to me in minutes what my teacher couldn't in a week of classes. i'll be looking forward to more :)

I'm glad you like this format. I've had some comments that I go too in depth on the theory of how it all works, and I should just skip to showing how to apply it to problems. I figure that's what you do in class though, as you said.

An easier way to smooth even number moving averages is to take the first 5 numbers, half the first and last number then add them all together and divide by 4

Just a small doubt, when doing 4-mean smoothing, why we can't draw the point in between 2nd and 3rd year and why we chose centering ?

    • @ajufsd

If you are good in Excel, you will be quick to do it. Other tools like SAS, R etc make it with some codes, though its not recommended for small data sets.all the best.
