Thank you very much because this really explained it for me, my lecturer just complicated his explanation using 1/2 of the first value and 1/2 of the last value of the time window and that was so confusing for me when doing the calculation but now i used your method to solve his time series questions and got same values and answers he got. An easier way to smooth even number moving averages is to take the first 5 numbers, half the first and last number then add them all together and divide by 4

If you are good in Excel, you will be quick to do it. Other tools like SAS, R etc make it with some codes, though its not recommended for small data sets.all the best.
