I normally duck into Davinci Resolve and use their incredible roto tools, which are far superior to AE, Runway ML and Mask Prompter. Resolve can give you results that look they were cut from a greenscreen, without the unusable wobbly edges of the AE-based solutions. Sure, they're fine if you want to use the same background and drop some text behind them, but if you want to put them on a totally different background with professional clean edges, I'm either sending stuff to India to be roto-ed, or I'm using Resolve.
Tbh it’s fairly simple to get rid of the wobbly parts if you give AE enough info to work with and use some other plugins to remove the defects. In my opinion I think AE is definitely the fastest with almost a near perfect roto result

What is next for Rotobrush? I would like it if there was automatic object detection like in Photoshop. Something like, freeze frame, analyze, and then it detects and allows you to refine the various object in the frame.
Why does no one compare the results from Magic Mask in Resolve to Rotobrush? I'd be curious to see which has the better implementation of auto-masking.

Amazing video, well presented. Graphics and all! If you could remove holding the mic and be free with your hands like a presenter. Also remove mic from the video frame all together...make it seemless! Great job though!
My PC for example couldn't even render the selection when using Roto 2. However, when I switch to Roto 1, it works fine. Do I need to upgrade my PC? Yes! But I already gave an example of how useful is keep older roto versions.
ok but will roto3 be optimized for rendering? cause right now roto2 does a better job than runwayml but takes 20x as long so for most things (i work in very fast turnaround) i'll just get a crappy matte from runway and then clean it up a bit. I'd love to see it optimized a bit
as a CS6 user, rotobrush pisses me off so much... TBH the RB1 revision in CC seems to work better than it does in CS6. but i refuse to upgrade to the pay to use model.
@@XAVAGE I'm not "refusing to pay for better tech and software" i just refuse to pay a subscription model for ACCESS to said tech. i would have ZERO problem paying a one time price like I did with CS6. Plenty of free roto software that works better than RB1 so i use that when i need to roto.

Hi, thanks for your great videos ! I've got an issue I hope anyone will help to solve it, since it drives me crazy... When I do the "convert to an after effects composition" in premiere pro, after effects uses the entire clip and not the premiere pro trimmed (and edited) one. So instead of be abbled to use rotobrush on a 10 sec clip for exemple, I now have to figure wehere is the good part inside the OG footage... Idk why it acts like that. So, does anyone know how to solve it ? Cheers !

At first glance Rotobrush 3 seems like a minor upgrade but boy it's actually a massive improvement over Rotobrush 2. Especially for moving subjects!

It's so that you can see a comparison between the 3 and then think to yourself, "oh yeah, I guess Rotobrush 3 is warranted huh"

What do you use to record you screen in high resolution? Do you manually edit the zoom in and outs afterwards?
Probably OBS Studio. It’s free and records in perfect quality. And the zooms are done afterwards.
