Well done Mr and Mrs Stu on making that fantastic voyage. Having watched the old outboard videos, the resto and now this trip - it's all been a terrific journey.
Thanks Iain, appreciate you watching all this time. It's funny, while on this trip I've been planning a whole range of outboard videos to film. I guess variety is the spice of life! :)
@@DangarMarine Stu actually I love boats, I have a small engineering workshop just south of Bundaberg and I get to do a lot of aluminium welding on tinnys Mainly because the “captains” crash into Australia on a fairly regular basis. Hey stu. give damien a good swift kick to keep him distracted. get Adrien to sneak on board and permanently mark the cummins that it wants to be a detroit when it grows up. ;)
Bundaberg Marine down at Burnet Heads is a good place to put the boat up for a look-see. I have helped a mate do his biannual inspection and found the team there to right on top of the jobs. If you wanted a quick turnaround they will really 'pull-the-finger-out".
Great to see you and Vick made it safely as we all expected mate...awesome stuff !! Inskip Point and Garry's Anchorage are the 2 spots we stayed on our trailer sailer back in the 80s...we competed in the Tin Can Bay to Hervey Bay yacht race 3 times (not sure if this is still a thing ? ) Fond memories of Fraser and camping aboard every night. Can't wait for the next chapter of Renko at Bundy with the mods and sandblasting / topsides. Oh and the mighty Brupeg going in the water of course. With a Detroit 12-71 Cheers
one thing about the drone of a detroit- you'll either get to ignoring it exists until the sound changes or it'll drive ya complete and total bonkers. i'm guessing stu fits scenario #1
arrived safely and with a beach haul of goodies, whats not to like, lol just a matter of interest was the rifle casing British 303 ? thinking about your comment on reversing ( going astern ) in the Not so UK we use fishtails or small keels fitted to the rudder and it improves water grip and directional improvement, might help.
Not sure, it looked about that size to me. I'll clean it up a bit more and see if I can tell. Small keels may help. So will more practice. ;) Living on the swing mooring at home I don't do a lot of reversing so I'm sure I'll get better at anticipating the transverse thurst. A reverse camera would go a long way too as visibility astern is poor. I can see why people dock from their flybridge.
Nice shoreline and ocean views. Careful on melting lead. Don't want to breath the fumes and make sure no moisture around to drip into the melting pot. I have melted bullets and fishing baits but never happened to me. Had a friend had a drop of sweat drip off his nose and it fell into his molten lead and almost emptied the pot from exploding steam. Luckily none of the lead landed on him. Video stabilization on the GoPro makes for great "no shake" video.
