Hey June, thanks for tuning in! Thank you for your patience as we are constantly trying to get better with our videos :-) Let me know if you want to see a specific topic!!
I do a ton of mixing! There is nothing wrong with that! I think good designs come from being playful with styles and not just keeping one style and color throughout. I might think about matte white for the uppers instead of gloss, I have a lot of people going towards the matte finishes more. Thanks for watching friend 🙂
We live in a 928 sq ft log home with a small and narrow U-shaped kitchen - about 100 sq ft in the kitchen. Is this too small a space for a two-toned cabinets? We’re thinking about light sage green shaker style base cabinets with cream uppers. We feel all cream might be too light for the house. Just not more brown! Any advice is greatly appreciated! Great video!
I don't think any space size dictates if you can do a color combo or not, if it works in the space and with the overall look you have going on it's ok! I was living in my last house it was only a little over 1,000SF and I did a fully black kitchen! It was gorgeous! I was never worried about needing a white kitchen to make it look "bigger"!
Hi, in most cases if I do a 2 toned design, I will make all tall units the same as the wall cabinets so the crown can continuesley be the same. I also add panels around the tall unit so I have a clean cut on the toe kick. If the panels are not there because it's existing I would look which "break" can be done the nicest. Thanks for watching!!
Hello Kerstin been enjoying ur videos right now since we deciding to remodel kitchen which we have a small kitchen and no counter space but my idea was a white shaker kitchen to make space look bigger and open but also looking at ur videos maybe a 2 tone kitchen?? Help what you advise
Hi Jacky!! Thanks for tuning in! I love two toned kitchens. I'm a huge fan of using a natural warm looking wood on all of your bases and white paint on your wall & tall units. Check out the Cappuccino stain on a Knotty Alder by Medallion, it's one of my favorites!! www.medallioncabinetry.com/products/finish-gallery/
Thank You Kerstin, this was super helpful. What do you think to have a Navy Blue Cabinet in the Entire Kitchen and White/Stone Grey in the Kitchen Island. Appreciate your opinion.
Yes I think that would look very nice! Are you having some wood tones in the floor? I think that would add some really nice warmth to the space. Thanks so much for watching!
Love how practical your tutorial was. I have a grey kitchen but would like to repaint the upper cabinets white to match the trims and the lowers a deeper green than the walls. Which colour should the walk in pantry be? I'm thinking white so the door and trim make the whole thing look wider and taller.
Hi Helen, thanks for watching! I'd love to see your kitchen when done, I love dark emerald green tones! Yes, agree on the pantry. I'd keep it simple white. Talk soon!
I'd go with a lighter wood tone, maybe with hint of gray but definitely a lighter wood tone. Countertops can be white marble look. I currently have a crush on the Coastal Gray LVP from Surface Art: surfaceartinc.com/products/luxury-vinyl/rsc.html
Hi. Love your advice and taste!! Currently have maple colored cabinets (track house built in 2004-so over them!) and the countertops are off white tile. Definitely want to go two-toned and open to suggestions; thought about doing cabinets either top, bottom or island in stained wood color if not just paint. Floor tiles are large terracotta (20x20?) and wondering if I can keep them and still spruce up the kitchen? Walls are Repose Gray and lots of neutrals in the house. Love brass/gold too. Have great space for some added open shelves to tie in. Not sure that I can re-do countertops due to budget. Thoughts/ideas? TIA.
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for tuning in! I think spicing up your kitchen with a two toned style will look beautiful. I truly love the two toned especially when someone is painting. In all reality, painting your cabinets is a total different result than having cabinets professionally painted in a factory. Usually painted cabinets will show nicks and scratches really fast. I usually recommend staining all your base cabinets in a nice wood stain and you can still paint your wall cabinets in white or an off white color. This way your kitchen will look good for way longer as stain holds up soooo much better. I don't see why you can't keep your floor tile, try to pick a stain that goes with it. :-) Good luck!!
Hi Kerstin, Thanks for this. It was truly helpful. I’m interested in learning more about the first kitchen you shared as an example. Would you be able to direct me to the source? Thank you.
Hi Gale-Ann, thanks so much for reaching out! I'm happy to hear the videos are helping you! Did you mean the kitchen with the lighter blue and wood cabinets? If yes, then those cabinets are by Medallion. The blue cabinets are Medallion Door Devonshire Flat Panel in Maple Paint Dusk Classic (light blue) and the wooden cabinets are Medallion Door Camelot Raised Panel in Maple Buckskin Appaloosa! :-) I hope this helps, thanks for reaching out. Talk soon!
I think if you take a look around at Pinterest at some wood kitchens you can get a pretty good idea on which wood looking floors will go well with wood kitchen cabinets. I don't think the floor has to perfectly match, it should be in the same color tone but maybe lighter or darker. I hope this helps!
Hello Kerstin enjoy ur videos right now so we looking into a remodel kitchen but it’s hard to decide because we have a small kitchen with not much counter space so my idea was white kitchen to make space look bigger or maybe a 2 color kitchen and we don’t have island help please

Hello, I just ran across your video which is so helpful for my kitchen renovation we are doing. I'm incorporating the white cabinets with a espresso island with with quartz counter tops. But I'm soooo confused with tge shade of flooring. I'm interested in luxury vinyl wood flooring to where this a shade flooring run through out my house. Please any suggestions you can give me. I don't want the flooring to be too busy. My theme is more of a clean line antique modern farmhouse look with more neutral shades that gives me a warmth look. I looking at going with the gold hardware. Any suggestions?💕💕💕
Hey lady, thanks for tuning in!! Have you ever thought of a lighter floor? Wide plank oak looks, even white washed are becoming super popular. I hope this helps!! Good luck on your remodel :-)
You know I've thought about the light floor, but I was thinking about something that didn't show so much dirt. Something not too dark or too light. That light shade I know will be beautiful.
@@Mattielife It's hard to make a suggestion online without seeing all the finishes. I suggest grabbing your cabinet samples and just heading to a flooring showroom. There are lighter versions that are more a mid tone and would probably work great. :-)
Hi Grace, thanks for tuning in. It's hard to tell without seeing pictures. Usually I like to add contrast to the selections. Especially if you are looking from the top down to your countertops, there should be a decent enough contrast to the floor. Maybe a light gray concrete looking floor? I hope this helps!
We are having a remodel done on our kitchen but we have medium grey floors and my sister wants medium/dark grey cabinet (darker than floor). What do you think about this? Would it clash or you think it would look ok?
Hey Megan! Thanks for tuning in :-) I actually like the same color families as long as your contrast is great enough. Super dark gray cabinets are so stunning and way more in trend than light gray (my personal opinion). They look so good with light gray floors and any kind of wood accent. Please include some sort of wood accent to balance the warmth of the room. Too much grays and white can start looking sterile and cold. Good luck ladies, I'm sure it will be stunning!!
Hey Brea, thanks for tuning in! Love the combo and switching it up with leaving the top cabinets wood. Lighter countertops would look good, or even dark! It all depends on the style you're going for. Is there a certain type you had in mind like mid century, modern, farmhouse?
@@TheMaterialBar yes! Loved this episode. I’m thinking more farmhouse style. I was going to do a solid slab as a countertop and backsplash maybe a white with gold and sliver River like lines? Like and hardware to go with?
