I am so glad to find Rock 'N' Roll Gypsies. Left my copy of the album in England with a friend who just had to have it, Chrissie Fiddis, and how could I say no. Oakley deserved to be heard everywhere. I hope she took it back to Australia when she moved home. We played the crap out of this album at our flat in London but I was the only one allowed to touch its sacred vinyl and put it on. I'm sure she took great care with it after I moved back.
I am proud to say I own this Oakley gem on vinyl in excellent condition. Great album,great band. Thanks guys for an outstanding album that will be discovered by many more people as the years go on.

Had drinks with Richie at the Misty Moon on Kempt Rd once, and Matt in Borden, ON and Kentville, NS. Nice guys who never got the worldwide credit they deserved, for their talent and coolness...
Any chance you are going to re-release the original album, on CD or Spotify or Slacker? I know Richie is gone and missed but I travel the States a lot with blues/rockers who would love this album! Let's take this Rembrandt and make it famous now that he's gone...
He said he was going to turn Halifax into the Rock & Roll Capital of North America in an interview on the newly formed Q-104. He didn't achieve that one but he did achieve creating one of the BEST Rock Albums from The Maritimes.

Oakley like Minglewood both had one top 40 hit on the Canadian top 40 charts so that was an accomplishment

I love the album version but seeing the band perform this live took things to a whole different level. RIP Ritchie.

Halifax was a great Rocken town !! Great place to grow up in the 80's a shit ton of rockers came through and great times were had !!
Admirable thought but with L.A, NYC, Chicago, Toronto and Vancouver that would be a long shot

Saw them many times in 1979/1980..they were a regular at Zapatas in Halifax. Sure had some great times!
