Yes that is the reason. White fabric that fibers are woven into reflects lights from fibers so the brightness is slightly higher, but you don't see the fibers details that much as when fibers are woven into black fabric. Black fabric absorbs light from fibers and make it more defined and detailed. The brightness intensity of fibers are the same, its just how they react with white or black fabric they are woven into. I am thinking of buying your bomber jacket, as I play in a band and think it would look badass on stage. I mainly play piano and keys, sometimes I play a keytar. Do you think I would be able to wear it with an instrument strapped over my shoulder, or will the weight break the mechanics?

Pressure on straight fabric is perfectly safe. What you should not do is to fold the jacket perpendicularly to the fibers or make creases on fabric.
