Nick, great video. I found that the nose on the Lee universal depriming die is too long and contacts the inner base of the shell before the primer is pushed all the way out. Or they need to make the pin a bit longer. If you extend the pin out more it only pushes back up into the die the first time it hits the base of the case. Not all cases have the same internal dimensions, that's the real problem. You can either turn the nose back a bit on a lathe, effectively making the pin longer, or use a different die for depriming. I use an RCBS .44 mag die with removable pins, and I just did 4,000 9mm without a stuck primer. I also deprime first because I liquid clean my cases, so they should never jam the machine. I also hand prime, so that is issue number 2 I will never see on this machine. It adds a bit more time to the reloading process, but I only do about 4,500 a year, so the extra time is not a problem for me.
How much you shoot should help you decide how much you want to spend on equipment. This is one of the best setups I've ever seen. I have a Lee Loadmaster with full setups for 9mm and 45 acp and with everything bought used I have less than $400 invested. Took plenty of tweaking but I'm retired so I'm in no hurry. I run 20 round batches and chamber check and length check all and I can still make 2 or 3 hundred in a session. Best point.. I deprime all brass first with the undersized depriming dies and if !x fired spray with a little Hornady case lube and away I go. I love your machine.
Video was very interesting & the links are great. Lee presses can be made very effective by user driven aftermarket modifications.
Is the guy still making the Gatling feeder? The links no longer work. Great video thanks!
Sizing and deprimimg first is key to this machine running flawlessly 99% of the time, i tried it the other way and it was a nightmare, a lot of times the decapper would hold the old primer why idk and actually pull it back in the case then next pull would result in a crushed primer. Nice setup you have!
yeah 9mm is difficult to decap, prime, load, etc. 45acp is a lot easier
I have 2 Dillon xl650 s 1 Hornady ap press wouldn't trade dillon love or $$$$Interesting video
Could you put up a photo of where you put the masking tape ?
You probably have already fixed it however I noticed your die plate is loose and moving around on you. I replaced the thumb screw that holds the die plate in with a set screw. It has not loosened up at all.
Cool thanks!
thanx gr8 video,
do you have a method for loading the bullets into the tube,,, cases seem to right way up 99%
Yes, check out the penny mod: ruclips.net/video/T_ajySMg7Ag/видео.html
good, what about a BULLET FEED idea, but not using the hornady style, that has been copied by many people, just somthing simple, but not a finger load 1 bullet at a time
Thanks for the video Sir, just purchased a 9mm from mike today. Looking forward to adding this upgrade to my loadmaster. I deprime first too, and I also hand prime with a frankford arsenal deluxe. I gave up on lees priming system for this press...too many detonations. Do you have any advice or steps to set up your loadmaster priming for tuning? I also just got those 3d printed case retainers, any advice on setting those up with any specific rubber bands? I gave away the powder disk that comes with this press for an RCBS auto drum, and I love it. I also just added the non dimable UFO lighting system and its really nice.
You're welcome! Yeah the priming system works a lot better with the resizing die on station #2 and the shake brake installed. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Looking to get in to reloading, both pistol (9, 40, and 10) and rifle (5.56, 270, various .30s, and 350) cases. For rifle, I am thinking of doing two press set-up assembly. First would be a single stage to decap, then tumble, then back to the single stage to neck size, following with a trimmer. Changing neck sizing dies to match caliber.
Second press would be a progressive set up to prime, charge, seat bullet, and crimp neck. Changing the turret with dedicated dies mounted for each particular caliber. Buying a new caliber components and turret set up each year until I have what I need to load for the rifles I have.
Would Lee's loadmaster progressive be acceptable for a budget minded, able to grow set-up?
Yes!
Hi Nick. Can you add links for the add ins that you mention?
They are all in the video description
I have extra bullet gatling feeders, if you want them in 9 or 45 email me: nickshootsstuff at gmail
If you have to deprime first, where’s the savings?
you don't have to but I do. And I print for 10cpr

Oh sorry misread that, yes check my newer videos like the 10k rd review
Hello you have built a nice press there but I was wondering if you took everything that you paid for to make this press how much do you save ,contra baying a hornady or dillon.
Yes, still less than both
But did he save enough to make the hassle and frustration worth it? He's convinced he did. Do you have time for frustration? There's ammo to be made!
@@steveinla8963 No frustration, I like to tinker and mod things. So it was a nice experience. Check out the 10k review update. It cranks ammo and runs like a sewing machine
@@NickShootsStuff Hi Nick, I am pleased to hear of your success. I had bought a Pro 1000 and it was a frustration. That was in 2019, before the 750. So it was an XL650 for me. Nice press, great customer service and minimal problems. Every press has some problems. Thanks for the reply.
R, Steve
@@steveinla8963 cheers buddy, I like Dillon's too!
What model press? 6000?
In the title "Lee Loadmaster 9mm"
You get what you pay for. Take the 750 out of the box, set it up and make quality ammo. None of this dickin' around. Use the dillon powder check system and make lots of quality, safe ammo, without the frustrations the lee presses presents.
