I was replacing the shell on my ds lite and I guess since the plastic was brand new the flat cable had even more trouble fitting through the slit so I had to be more forceful than I wanted to be, and as well as that, that, the shell wouldn't close snuggly into the small silver tube that the flat cable and two wires need to go through and in the process of that my flat cable got a small tear in it, I was so distraught😅
@@cheezygui5803 Oof. Replacing the shell of a perfectly fine NDS is a recipe for disaster. I am absolutely grateful for your videos. Recently, I finally had the opportunity of fixing my ds lite that has accompanied me for around 13 years. As you might have guessed it, 13 years comes with many side effects to the ds lite. The top LCD starts to have white lines and the screen is getting blur around the edges. I have managed to changed the lcd to a new one based on your video and another video has helped me fixed the stupid left trigger that works sometimes and dont the other times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart of the work you have put in into the videos. No advertisement, no subscribe and likes nonsense just straight up all the details from start to finish. Thank you
My partner used this tutorial yesterday to solder the speakers to the ribbon cable of the top LCD and it worked beautifully! Thank you so much for this video, you were very clear about what you were doing and it was extremely helpful. I will need to get a replacement bottom screen because mine turned pink after I finished repairing all the other parts (I guess it degraded, no issues with ribbon cable) :( But I am almost done with my DS repair thanks for your two videos! Thank you!
Big time thank you for this! Through many years of opening and closing (and maybe the L-button's movement) the ribbon cable of my top screen wore out and the screen went black when opened to the first notch or further. But I was able to get it up and running again!
Yeah better to just buy another one. Damn it sucks cause I just bought one(used) and it recently got dead pixels, and every time i turn it on, there’s more. Eventually the whole screen will be black.
@@TheFixTech Thanks for this. I still currently have the broken DS. I couldn't replace it because of the pandemic. My consoles is like more than 10 years old already, hehe. Thanks.

not exactly easy, whole thing needs taking apart and need special driver bit and solder and a new screen, easier to buy a decent 2nd hand one on ebay for 15 to 20, good vid none the less!

Some screens need to be calibrated on the ds lite. Next to the battery slot are tiny screw heads built into the motherboard, one for top screen the other for bottom. Find the one for the top and slightly turn the screw until the screen clears up.
I’m trying to repair the top screen on my DS lite, and the tri-wing screws won’t budge. I’m using the correct screwdriver. Any ideas? I really want to fix it.
Wow really helpful. My DS top screen turns white if i open it too much but it works just fine if the hinge doesnt' click. The problem is the ribbon cable right ?

Once you disconnect the battery the ds lite will reset to factory mode, no need to worry about your save game files as they are stored on the game cartridge.

Does anyone knows how do you remove the glass from the lcd (top or bottom). I read it on some web where it says, it needs to be heated to separate the glass from the lcd.
No need for that, the adhesive is soft enough. Just use a thin plastic tool or a playing card to start the separation. Once you can lift with your finger you can pry off.

It will be slightly harder to solder as flux wire is just better, the flux helps adhere to the pads. You can buy flux separately for cheap if you already have standard solder, or try soldering without flux but at that point youre making things more difficult for yourself

You don't need that copper strip on the backside of the screen?
