Very well-explained technique! It inspires me to give it another try! Thanks so much for the shout-out in the video description. I really appreciate it. :D
Thank you so much for watching! I feel like senpai has just noticed me. I really enjoy your videos, even if I don’t do pattern weaving very often, and you’re my go-to recommendation for people looking to start learning tablet weaving.
Advice from a tatter. If your hands are very dry plastic tatting shuttles will simply slip right out of your hand (or in my case Launch). There are several ways to deal with this. The cheapest and least destructive method is a bit of painters tape on the outside of the shuttle where you grip it. I personally rub my fingertips on a lump of beeswax which gives me that tiny bit of grip I need without creating the snag hazard tape can cause.
This 👀 like so much fun ~ I can do what I call “normal tablet weaving” ~ but have never tried this ~ now seeing your video ~ I’m willing to give it a go!
Thank you! I have long watched people do this at events, but gotten totally confused trying to figure out what the cards do, etc. This crash course answered a lot of my questions. Maybe I will have to look further into it! I appreciate you kick starting me by putting it into CoSy!
Combo of backstrap and my right foot for my first round of tablet weaving. I have an inkle now, much easier to disengage if the cats start fighting or puking. lol
There are a lot of different types of patterns that can be put to this, it’s great! Any type of two-color pattern could be reworked. My only recommendation would be to make sure you don’t have top-side floats that go more than five cards, for the same reason you don’t want long backside floats in knitting. If you do try it out send me pictures on Instagram. I’d love to see it!
Fascinating. I have an inkle loom and I probably have some thread I could use for warp and weft and there's plenty of cardboard about to make cards with - time to put these things together and see if I can actually weave on my inkle loom - the last time I tried it didn't go well and I wasn't even trying to card weave with it as I didn't know that was a thing you could do with an inkle loom.
I’ve done a little bit of inkle/heddle weaving on my loom, but I mostly use it for tablet weaving. I like that it’s all self-contained and I can put my project down and walk away from it without needing to worry about tangling or the tension loosening. Weaving is one of those activities that gets easier as you build up muscle memory too, especially with heddle weaving, but also with tablet weaving as well. Tablet weaving just has a couple other steps beyond up or down. I hope your next try with the inkle loom goes better!
Thank you! How do you deal with twist build up in patterns where individual cards get turned in uneven numbers? I use the back tie method. It's a nightmare of untangling more than weaving! I love your work! Inta is my name.❤💐
Question regarding weaving backwards to decrease twisted yarn do you weave complete pattern backwards what was going forward goes backwards and what was going backward goes forward? In the midst of huge tangle help
So…I have a question. With this technique is it possible to then do a double face brocade with a triple shed (normal, lower and upper)? This video demonstrates the shed being divided into two separate sheds resulting in a brocaded design only on one side by utilizing only the upper portion of the shed as the secondary shed. Can’t the lower portion of the shed also be used for a similar result? Obviously it would be more time consuming, but wouldn’t it also almost eliminate the “running stitch” of the brocade as it distributed between sides? Also, it would be pretty cool to have a single or even a secondary brocade design on the reverse side
I use a couple different methods to deal with twist buildup! When I’m making headbands/fillet bands I will generally weave to the halfway point, and then reverse my turning direction, which does cause a visible change right at that center line. Otherwise, if I don’t want to have that visible line there, I put fishing swivels at the far end of my weaving, so that I can work the twist out as I go, generally whenever I pause to move the weaving forward on my loom.
I personally make head bands / fillet bands because that’s the length I can manage with my small inkle loom, but this can also be used for belts, trim, any kind of decoration, really. There are a lot of different applications.

Thank you so much for this lovely tutorial!! I’ve always wanted to know how the brocade was weaved
Thank you so much for watching! I like to think that it's something that looks complicated, but is actually pretty easy to pick up the technique.

Thank you! I just found your twist build up video. Much appreciated! ❤💐 Inta

This was an excellent tutorial. Thank you!
birka 22 is gorgious :D 😍😍😍😍
Hey! I made your craddle loom! Awesome video
That is so cool! Gonna have to try this!
I find it a nice, low-key project that I can do while watching TV, or if I'm at an event, I can still talk while working on it.
Now I understand! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Beautiful. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for watching!
Oooh... I just found you, based on the plus size panel .... AND I just bought an inkle loom for tablet weaving!! Consider me subscribed!
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'll be putting out a video on how to make cards for tablet weaving next Wednesday. so be sure to check it out!
So, what I got from this is: I can use the double knit patterns I made forever ago to make cute trim.
I need a loom.

Glad you enjoyed it

Since you always rotate the cards in one direction, how do you manage the built up twist behind your cards?

What were these tapes used for? You mentioned headbands. Would this type of tape also be used to decorate garments?
I personally make head bands / fillet bands because that’s the length I can manage with my small inkle loom, but this can also be used for belts, trim, any kind of decoration, really. There are a lot of different applications.
Where did you get your cradle loom? I’m looking for one and can’t seem to find one anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Sorry, found your link and ordered! Had a “duh” moment. Can’t wait to try brocade. Thanks for the great video
