Hello...I have subscribed because I wanted to watch your move. I retired at 58, and have not regretted it at all. It has been 26 years this past June and I was able to have 18 years in retirement with my husband before he passed. I am so happy you have the ability to do this now. Only God knows how long we have on this earth, so to be able to have retirement when you still have the ability to enjoy doing things together is a wonderful thing. Maybe your parents could be with you as well during the coldest part of the year in NH. Looking forward to updates as you post them. Have a Blessed day.
Thank you for watching and sharing! We love hearing these types of stories and it gives us more encouragement to keep pushing for retirement as early as possible. Your words are impactful to us and we thank you for that!

@@JustDonnaMaria You can’t relate to the cold weather than. 🙂 TN climate is different depending where on the state you are. We are very excited for the change! Thank you for watching and sharing.
Retirement is definitely the dream . I am 58 and recently disabled after double lumbar spine fusion after an incredible 38 year high end auto body painting career . Luckily we had been saving for retirement since we were 24 . And paid off our house three years ago .
Thank you for watching and sharing Dave! We cannot wait to make it there. We love our employers and still motivated by our work. We just want every day to feel like a vacation day. Can't blame anyone for wanting that. Sorry to hear about the disability! You were smart to be saving your entire live. We have been contributing to our 401k since 22yrs old. We should have done it all differently back then, but it is what it is. We learned a lot financially the past 4+ years.

Hi from NC. Three days in from retiring and moving from Massachusetts for similar reasons. NC has Half price taxes, quality of life, great health care, and best of weather. Winter was brutal for me in Mass. Lots of community here in NC and hiking and biking and kayaking to do. Thank goodness for planes, trains, and automobiles.
@@marilynbrooks2767 Oh my gosh, congratulations!!! NH has become MA over the past few decades. There aren’t many we know here that have migrated so it’s good to know we aren’t the only ones! We have been to NC a few times scouting areas in the Blue ridge mountain area. We loved lake James, it was just too remote for us.
Congratulations! We close on our home in middle TN in about a month! Looking forward to our move and retirement. Our journey is about is a bit less than 1000 Miles, closer to 720.

Thanks for watching and sharing Libby! We are rounding out summer here and the best season, Fall, is upon us. We are going to soak it all in as its our last. We are absolutely dreading the winter as its only a bit over 2 months away from starting. Cold and snow starts here at the end of Oct into beginning of Nov.
@@OurRetireEarlyJourneyI lived in Laconia. Was a great place pre 80s. So much has changed. If I could go back in time. Property taxes keep me from even looking. TN is also the way for me, and NH is a great place to visit to avoid TN summer humidity. All the Best.
Interesting conversation. We are at the age that we will need to make similar decisions soon. I had two falls in the past month slipping on wet surfaces or mud. I can imagine ice would be worse. The community sounds so attractive! ❤❤
Thank you for watching and sharing! Sorry to hear about your falls. Falls can be crazy life changing events. It made us really take stock of where we lived and where we wanted to spend the rest of our lives.
Wow, that's great. We are in the same exact boat. We no longer have any living room or dining furniture. We are trying to move very very little and plan on just repurchasing everything. Thanks for watching and sharing.
It truly is. We are moving within a close distance of Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga so there is plenty of work opportunities for them. In NH the closest real opportunities are near Boston. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Such an interesting video! Your new home looks beautiful and so does your lot. That lake view is incredible. You forgot to mention another plus about TN: no income tax! 🎉 You’ll be our neighbors. I’m from GA. Tennessee is an amazing state though ❤
Thank you for watching and sharing! We did look at GA as well to move to. We looked at the northeast side and every lake that was there. Beautiful area! You are correct about the no income tax! We are beyond excited for this next chapter. Just have to get through 1 more winter here in NH.
Great video, I’ve been looking forward to seeing this. The new house is beautiful! I get what you’re saying about the sense of community. Our primary home is in the country and we don’t see our neighbors much. Most of them are busy working. Our mountain home is the opposite. We have a much smaller lot and it’s easy to just walk around the neighborhood and visit the neighbors. Everyone is here to relax and we are arranging last minute pot luck dinners every couple of weeks. We also support all of the local community fundraisers by either volunteering or just attending. Super fun.
Thanks for watching and commenting Failure! We should have given you a shoutout on this video as you were the push we needed to put this one out. It's a bit scary sometimes putting these types of honest commentary out there as you never know the backlash. Our NH video has received a lot of attention and not all positive so you just never know. We are glad you found that sense of community. It's so high on our list as we are both social people and really want that in our lives.
We moved from Wisconsin to Florida, I also fell 3Xs on the Wisconsin ice, it’s a real hazard living in colder climates. Congratulations on your move and early retirement plan…SO exciting! The neighborhood sounds gorgeous 🏡❤
Thank you for watching and sharing! Ice is not a friend of ours at all. We can't wait to limit our exposure to it. We just have to get through 1 more winter here. Heading to your channel.
Congrats on the transition so far!! Giving up Hawaii for Jamaica was a leap, but been an interesting adventure so far thats for sure. Look forward to hearing how it goes. Enjoy the journey.😎🤙
Thanks for watching and sharing! We are excited for sure. We are looking at this as an adventure as well. Change is scary for some, for us its an opportunity to grow.
I love NH. I grew up in MA and used to vacation in the Weirs Beach area of Lake Winnipesaukee. I was just up there a couple months ago as well for a visit. I agree about the cold and snow. Keep us updated.
Thanks for watching and sharing. We don't live too far from that area believe it or not. Weirs beach has been run down for decades, its too bad. It used to be such a nice area. Lake Winni is one of NH's treasures! We will still visit annually, just don't want to live it year round any more!
That community sounds like a paradise. They should have you do promos for them 😊 Having a community of people is going to help a lot with the transition. My coworkers and interaction during the day is one of the things I do miss about work life.
We hope the community is everything we hope it to be! People seem really nice and all are there for the same reason. We should fit in fine. We are a bit younger than most of the average demographic there but its not bad being the puppies once in a while. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching and for sharing. It helps dramatically that we are both goal oriented and driving towards the same path. Not sure how it would work out if we weren't so aligned.
Wow! Sounds like really an early retirement plan. Just seeing your house over seeing the lake is a dream cone true. My husband and I want to retire in Hawaii where I can have tropical fruits and going to the beach every day. Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for watching and sharing! Hawaii sounds amazing. We are lake people, but we do love a great ocean beach. We try to visit the Caribbean yearly to soak in the sun and warm water. Wishing you the best of luck in making your dreams come true!
I think you'll find a great joy once this huge transition is behind you. What an experience! Plus, you'll be in a neighboring state as I am in Kentucky!
We hope you are correct. We aren't finding much of it stressful. Just very time consuming trying to get our house ready for hopefully a quick sale! We are finding the joy in building our home. Guys this is a great idea and very interesting, shame about the falls that you have had in snow and ice by just walking 😯 Tenessee sounds amazing and does sound like a great move with a great community with a lot to do at the resort community and sounds like you won't be getting injuries hiking as there is not much snow and ice ! Love the look of the progress on your house, its going to be beautiful when its finished especially having that lake there :) So good that the builders are not rushing you to get it all done and wise to sell your stuff instead of the cost of moving it. Its brilliant that your kids are going with you too. Why not persuade your parents to join you ? So good ~ Anna
Thanks Anna for watching and sharing! Our parents do not want to leave the area, it's all they know. Both sets of our parents aren't great with change. There are actually a bunch of communities in TN that are resort type communities with similar amenities. You can find them online through web searches. We haven't given the name of ours out publicly as we do not want people to locate us. Thank you for watching!
Hi Jim/Cherie, great video. We are in Maine so we can understand your perspective well. We have made one trip to the Knoxville area and looking in the same region as you are. Would you share the location as we are planning our next trip now. Enjoy the transition.
Thank you for watching and the feedback. Maine's climate is the same and the more north you go can be even worse than we get. We aren't comfortable providing the actual location as it would be easy to locate us. We hope you understand. It's always a little weird putting all this out here in general. We will say there are a bunch of communities within all of TN that are similar. They do have some near the Knoxville area. We do love Knoxville a bit more than Nashville, we will be in there again in a few months. The temperatures on the eastern side of the state are much more moderate than in the middle and western side of the state due to the Smokies & Plateau.
LOL I 100% agree with you, the DMV (DC) area is the same way. Cannot wait to move, TN is on our top list for sure. I am so happy for you both. ❤❤❤❤❤ LOL Half-Backs is a new term for me
Thanks for watching and sharing Tiger! TN is very retirement friendly, it's actually one of the top economically friendly states to retire too. The state is very wide and has various different climates, due to the changes in elevations, unlike most states. Depending on the weather you prefer, you could easily find a perfect landing spot.
My husband and I relocated to Florida when we retired, but we regret it. We're originally from WA State, so it is a long way from family and ours stayed in WA. The cost of living wasn't as big of a difference as we originally thought. We didn't do enough research when we did it though. We should have investigated better. Great video, I enjoyed it in full. Like 88, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching and sharing. We have probably "over researched", but we wanted to make sure we knew what we were getting into before uprooting our lives here in NH.
Grandkids and elderly mil are keeping us in this area but we may need to move to downsize expenses and maintenance. Hubby has already been through one cancer fight. Still recovering from radical surgery. So much depends on having good health and energy!
You are so right about health and energy. Sorry to hear about the cancer battle. Most people stay grounded where they are because of kids, grandkids and parents. It's a tough decision for sure.
It's better to move before something happens. Ice is definitely not our friend. We find it harder and harder to get used to the cold that comes each year as well.
Thanks for watching and the question. We chose a resort community because we are social people and as we age we generally become more isolated and did not want to be in the woods alone forever. We wanted to be around other people that are social as well and have "built in" activities in a master built community such as hiking trails, gym, pools, lakes, golf courses, tennis, racquet ball, etc. We love that the entire community is manicured and looks beautiful. It's very strict, but we actually like that. Lastly, we like that we have our own police, fire, churches, grocery store, restaurants, assisted living facilities ect all accessible within minutes.
Thank you for watching and the feedback! We would rather not provide the details of the community we are moving to as its a small community and would be relatively easy to pin point us. We hope you understand. There are many communities in this entire region (Southern Appalachia) which are active communities with tons of amenities and offerings. There are not 2 alike which makes it great for you to find the right one for you. What we can assure you of is if you live in an expensive area of the country, you will definitely safe money if you migrated to this region.
Hi, we’re looking to retire in a few years and also looking at Tennessee. We are from NH also. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the name of the resort. It sounds really nice. Also what are you doing about medical insurance seeing your retiring so early. I will need to look for options for this.
Thank you for watching and sharing. We have not provided the actual community as its small and would be easy to find us. It's always weird putting yourself out here online as you never know who is watching. We will say there are a lot of communities in TN that are all very similar. If you do a search on google for these type of communities you will get a list of 7-10 of them. The great thing about TN is the climate is different throughout the state. If you want really hot summers you can find a community that is in the middle or western part of the state. If you want more mild summers, the eastern side is where you would need to look.
Good discussion. I am in NJ and can retire in 10 months, but will likely hang in 18 months till I am 58--TN & SC are on my short list. New subscriber...If I missed it sorry but 3 questions --What town in TN did you build in? Will you have an HOA to pay, I hope not? Since you are so pleased and impressed with the builder, can you share your builder's company name? Rich
Appreciate you watching, subscribing and sharing Rich. We would rather not give our location as you never know putting that information out there online. I hope you can relate that you don't want people knowing exactly where you are. We will say there are a bunch of resort communities in eastern TN that you can easily find online. They all do have an HOA, but honestly we like that. We like that all the homes are nice and lawns are manicured. Everyone there takes the same pride in the appearance. It's not for everyone, but its high on our list for a retirement destination. The HOA is in the low $100s, which is nothing. Our parents live in a community here in NH and pay nearly $700 a month for their HOA and all they do is cut their grass and plow/shovel their snow. It's outrageous. Our HOA will cover our sewer, water, garbage and provides access to all amenities in the community for close to $100 a month. We pay for garbage, septic and water here in NH, so the monthly lift for us is only $20! And if something goes wrong with our septic or leach field here in NH, all that costs are on us.
Cherie & Jim, It sounds like you're going to be moving to an amazing place, you get to build your dream house, and WOOHOO to shaving 7 YEARS (!!!!) off your retirement wait! I bet you are going to love your new home and community! Yay for you!!!!
We are so very excited! 7 years is a crazy amount of time. We are looking forward to a reboot and can't wait to see where this new adventure takes us! Thanks for watching and sharing!

Thank you for watching and sharing! We will be not that far away from you. We've been to Florida a bunch of times. It's a nice state, just a little to "hot" for us.
Nice plans!! TN is nice area, I live in AL and fairly close to several cities there.
We can't wait to be there. We have never been to AL, but looking forward to exploring all around the area once we are settled.

Hi my new friend, thanks for sharing your video 👍💐💐💐
Thank you for watching.
I’m originally from MA, and have lived in NH. My husband and I have looked at TN. We’ve lived so many places with the military. I’m excited for you! ❤😊

@@OurRetireEarlyJourney A big part of our dream was being consistent we both stayed at our jobs for a very long time . And both went to school for what we did for careers . My wife still works at the company she's been out for 35 years . Which is Big because if one of you work then you can at least have good insurance . Plus I was very good add playing the real estate market at the right time when you could .

Wow, that's great. We are in the same exact boat. We no longer have any living room or dining furniture. We are trying to move very very little and plan on just repurchasing everything. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Congrats with your decision and new home in Tennessee. It is huge the kids want to come with you! Good luck in your new digs!

You’ll be our neighbors.
Good morning!
Thank you for watching!
@@OurRetireEarlyJourney I get that but hater’s are gonna hate, it’s what they do. I know it’s rough sometimes though.
We moved from Wisconsin to Florida, I also fell 3Xs on the Wisconsin ice, it’s a real hazard living in colder climates. Congratulations on your move and early retirement plan…SO exciting! The neighborhood sounds gorgeous 🏡❤

We don't want promos. The locals are sick of the blue state in vaders

Hi 👋 my friend 😊

Thank you for watching!
Why a resort community? I would love to see a video on a breakdown of the community you chose, costs, etc.
Wow excellent sharing thanks for this wonderful content and beautiful video ❤❤❤please stay connected ❤ 17:48

Great information video! Can you share to community? Looks amazing!

I relocated from Maryland to Alabama to retire early. It is 30% less to live here
You got it! It's crazy how much cheaper it is to live in other parts of the country. Thanks for watching and sharing!
