There are several questions about the power that I add to the varnish that will make the varnish dull, with no shine. It is a product from J C Licht (Wood Coating Division). The product number is (OK412 Flatting). As I recall the cost is about $50 a gallon of powder (light as a feather). The amount I add to the varnish depends on the amount of shine or not. There is a tradeoff of durability because the more powder reduces the UV protection. If the finished product needs exterior protection I do not add as much as if it will be interior. I mix up just enough to finish the job I'm working on, adding enough to make the varnish look milky. the more powder added the more it will hide the grain so I still want the varnish to have some transparency to it.

You say you "add a powder" to the Helsman Urethane varnish to make the finish a "Flat finish", What is the "powder" do you add to the urethane? - It will be helpful for all of us to know. Would appreciate an answer, ( Urethane generally adds too much gloss even if a "satin finish" is used. ) ALSO, please add a link to purchace the specific product you use....
Thank you. Nice work... Clear Video, I suscribed to your channel!

I would also like to know what the powder is that you use in the varnish to make a flat finish.
