This goes to show that it is not about equipment, but it is about the player. Great review, thank you so much. You have helped me greatly with my purchase decision.
I don't think we've seen you have this much fun on a keyboard before, lol. I'm glad your editor kept in the dance music. I grew up with a PSR-47 and I spent hours and hours goofing off on that thing. There's something special about cheap, small keyboards with simple action and tons of buttons and features to get lost in.
I enjoyed this video waaay too much, I never thought I'd see such high level playing and analysis of a piano like this. Great stuff though, pleasure to see you take it seriously... Nearly cracked at 12:26 though... which was actually followed by a killer solo! I mean, is it even a proper review if you don't bicep curl the piano at some point!? Great stuff!
I've had mine for a few years and play for enjoyment. If I wanted to become a student or even semi-pro I agree it has sound issues (guess because it's spring loaded) I'm not a professional. For the money though, it has been a great purchase. I took lessons as a child, but never stuck with it, this keyboard has rekindled my interest in playing music. Great review, I never noticed the difference between spring loaded and weight! Thanks for explaining and playing-
I use keyboards like this all the time, the lack of touch sensitivity is perfect for loud music, as a matter of fact, 95% of pro level boards come with a touch sensitivity toggle feature, you don't have to hit the keys as hard to get the full volume, extending the life of your keyboard, I'll never understand why keyboards like this are viewed as inferior instruments, any musician worth their salt can play just as effortlessly on unweighted, non touch sensitive keyboards, the guy in this video did it, Kris Nicholson has done it, Rich Formadoni has done it, and I've been doing it for 15 years

@@wyntermckenzietv9408 I’ve had mine for at least a year now and everything still works fine no problems at all just that it not having touch sensitivity can be a bit frustrating depending on what your playing
I've had instruments like this in the past and enjoyed them. I'd like to see you do a whole series on these mini keyboards and how they compare to one another. I'm a fan of the instruments with 3/4 size keys. Are they still sold?
Great overview. I have the 2500 model from way before and it has 85% same features and almost identical interface. I call these portable E KEYBOARD. The 2500 must be well less than $100 these days. Mine was eBay and the box had no cushioning. Came through. Very toughly built.
I was never interested in the piano, but half a year ago I was fooling around in the tablet and decided to learn the melody from the game. I was very hooked then, but I put it on the back burner. Now my choice fell on this device. I'll probably buy it.
I got problem with this keyboard. When I press keys especially in a chord, extra notes are playing and that make the chord sound incorrectly. I'm so frustrated with it. Thought of using hair dryer to fix the problem that may be caused by humidity and even disassembled it to directly air the circuit board, it is just fixed temporarily but the problem this goes back quickly. I'm so fruatrated because I can't afford to buy a new one huhuhu. Hope there will be a deeper tutorial to solve it.
My son just bought one in new condition for 15.00 at good will he’s lucky like that he bought a beautiful Alvarez acoustic guitar fro 12.00 at a thrift store only had 2 strings on it home run.
What makes it a toy? The fact that it lacks touch sensitivity? All midrange and pro boards have a touch sensitivity toggle feature, non touch sensitive keyboards are perfect for loud music, you dont have to beat the keys as hard to get the full volume, I have over 30 acoustic pianos, digital pianos and keyboards, and when I'm playing hard rock or fusion, I use keyboards like this one
What’s the best way to learn those jazz style chords and solos?,I strictly play by ear,I like Diana kralls jazz style on piano,I just don’t have a clue how to get started on this stuff.
I'm planning to buy a piano keyboard as i want to really learn. It seems theres an issue here with casio ctk 2550 because its not weighted and no touch sensitivty? What keyboard could best help me though if im on a budget? If anybody knows the song Bellas Lullaby thats the first i really wanna learn. 🥺
I would recommend the Alesis Recital. It has a really good sound for the $250 price and comes with touch sensitive, semi-weighted keys. You could also get the pro version which has fully weighted keys if you're willing to spend an extra hundred dollars.
How can I record my own song on it without an external device? Does it have the capability to store songs on it? Because I have been looking on all my settings and can’t find out how to record on it someone help
So basically you would need to record your music using the 6.5 mm jack provided in the keyboard, then once you're done recording from your device, go to a online mp3 to midi converter and once you get a midi file get the casio chordana play app from play store or app store , connect your piano to your device using auxiliary cable 3.5mm , and link your keyboard by long pressing the function button to go to app mode. Then select the midi file you converted go to settings click sound transfer and yeah it will say recieving on your piano, once that's done, yank out the aux cable and wallah play the song using the song bank
It has a 3.5mm audio jack - primarily for connecting your phone to the piano if you wanna use the app to transfer midi files, but you can use it for connecting microphones, using the piano speakers to play the audio from your phone. 6.5mm audio jack : for recording the piano or to connect headphones. If you do not have a cable you might need to purchase adapter Sustain Pedal jack: get any sustain pedal from casio and plug it in the keyboard.. And thats all the inputs and outputs
I think this is good for players of every level, depending on style of music. Learning classical piano would be difficult on an instrument like this (not impossible), but I found this to be fun for sure!
I have watched so many videos on casio keyboards today. Why does every single person doing these videos just focus on the piano sounds and not the organ or any other sound? All I want is to find one with a good organ sound but every single person plays all the different piano sounds and then moves on the the rhythm section.
Very disappointed in this review. A piano player spent less than a third of the video demoing a dozen out of 400 voices (not even one organ voice) and then over half the video on what is a glorified drum machine.
This is actually pretty good for beginners and on a tight budget like myself.
Your piano solo at 12:30 is impeccable!! 😂🙏🏿 thank u for sharing!

Right right the value of technology is to disperse cheap usable musical possibilities to the people. Still at least touch sensitivity would be useful.
Not if you play loud music.....

It does not sound good. The reverb even set at 10, it feels like there is no reverb. Also piano tunes from 1-15 does not sound good enough. Agree?

When you play chords on the left by playing one note, it assumes major chord. It’s that not the case?

Which is better
Casio ct s200
Or
Casio ctk 2550

It is certainly an option, but I feel like you could get a far superior drum sound through VST plug-ins and other drum sample libraries.
