This is the work of students at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. The story talks about The Khom King built the Shivalinga to worship the gods. with Nang Apara dancing in offering Aphra is Sanskrit from the Hindu religion of India. Therefore there are statues carved in Khom castles. In Thailand, there are many Khom castles, such as Prasart Hin Phimai.Prasart Khao Phanom Rung , Prasart Muang Tum etc. The costumes and dance moves were taken from carved images mixed with the director's imagination.
The rhythm of the song and the step dance are newly composed by a group of students at Khonkaen university and the copyright is belong to Khonkaen university. The music is using Thaiand’s north-eastern musical instruments, so it is undeniable that it is 100% Thai original. The 6-700 years old Ancient Khom culture had been completely lost, only some still steps position are graving on stones but no one knows the real step dance. This lost, sadly, in the form of the changes, staring from the change of domestic ruler/ruler dominant in the early ancient time period, wars within the region (the land has been concurred and ruled by more than 3-4 dominant cultures, ranging from neighboring countries to Western colony. The loss is continue to the modern wold due to Vietnam war and internal Khmer Rouge war, which killed millions of people. So the loss is very profound. Therefore, this step dance and any other Thai apsara dances are newly composed using/based-on the imagination and combination of current southern India step dance, step continuity/transition of cultural Thai dance and pause steps position of the remain engraved khom statues. Thus, Thai apsara dance is original 100% Thai dance and not be confused with current Cambodia apsara dance which dress as the ancient engraved khom statue but shows no pause step position of the old. Instead, the Cambodia apsara dance adopts Thai tradition dance as their step continuity.
