How to play this classic Johnny Cash tune in the style of Luther Perkins, his original guitar picker. Demonstration of the tune then I cover the solos, intro riff and bass strum picking patterns. EASY!
If you want to play along with the record, you'll need a capo at the first fret or tune up half a step.

I learned the first part of this solo on my brother's guitar back in 1972 when I was 12 years old. Here it is 51 years later and I finally learned the rest! Never too late to learn as long as you're still breathing. Thanks for posting this.
You're welcome Jeff - it's a great solo!

@@paulwhiting1648 Hi Paul, I don't see a request from you. Can you try again please.
I really enjoy and learn much from your lessons. Is that a Chet Atkins Tennesse Rose? Nice Guitar. I ask because I have a Tennesse Rose Chet Atkins. First time i played it I could not believe how different the fretboard felt compared to other guitars I own.
Hello there. it's a G6122 country classic. Great guitar - a bit battered but still plays great. A TR is a fantastic guitar too. Glad you like the lessons! :-)
@@rockabillyrevolution mine is a 6119T 62 vintage select I bought from Wild Wood Guitars in Colorado. Yours sounds crystal clear mate.
@@konjunto2477 sounds like an awesome guitar 🎸 👍
what are your setting on for your amp. ?
everything at 12 o clock usually and volume set to suit the occassion
If you could speed it up a bit, and add more twang, I think it would soumd better, !
Gotta have tha country "twang" in there to make it sound good, tuning guitar would be good too,!!!
Thank you for the sage advice
Should start with tuning your guitar
agreed
Agreed, !! Song should be played with more feeling, and sung with more country vibe, !
Its called Folsom Prison "Blues". Forget that hillbilly country beat, slow it way down and play it as a blues tune. Put some real lead guitar to it. Try it - you'll like it. I saw a blues band do it that way and it was amazing.
You young man, are not playing the B7 chord right! You don't strike the E string in the B7 mode! You alternate BASS string A to D while you play the B7 chord . If your going to teach it, teach it right mate!
if you play the second fret on the E string I think you will find you are playing an F# - try it you will discover it works.
You even okay it the wrong Key. STOP calling ya Channel Rockabilly If you are no Rockabilly!!!
stick a capo on fret one my friend
