    Hitting a headshot on a squishy and not getting a pick is not just unsatisfying, it's aggravating and somewhat tilting. Like I would honestly feel better if I missed completely than hearing a dink and not getting the elimination.

    I really really hate how assassin Hanzo is gone, my fondest memories are all dumb flanks and hiding spots. Give him a oneshot on a cool down will probably be enough for assassin to be playable without being too oneshotty.

      they should make his arrows noticeable (like storm arrows) and make bullet size drastically smaller but give back one shot so it feels less random

      @@passerby4507 This is honestly a solid idea. Like bind right click for an empowered arrow on a cooldown but if you land a kill with headshot it resets like genji's dash. This way you get the sense of agency back with securing kills from one-shots but it has to be intentional rather than luck-based.

    I stopped flanking because it wasn't worth the risk anymore. I have lost a lot of duels where I land the headshot, but don't have enough time to get the second shot in simply because they shoot faster than me (Sojourn, Venture, Genji, Cassidy). I can still play Hanzo, but I have to work much more harder for that kill and doesn't feel rewarding, especially up against flying characters or pocketed ones. I find myself playing Cassidy again due to the consistency or practicing with widow for that important pick to go in.
    Fighting Hanzos is also easier because I can simply run him down, especially since it's easy to dodge the arrows most of the time.
    I appreciate your guides though, they were helpful when I was learning Hanzo last year.

      you can literally go up close and melee to finish them off if u did land the headshot or press e and obliterate anything that's not a transformed bastion or mei/reaper with their get out of jail free card. from anything thats not arrge elo, hanzo dominates just as easily if not more because landing shot is easier

      @@aegislight5996 The headshot is what helped Hanzo in higher Elo's though? Without it he is forced to follow up, therefore losing a ton of value without a pocket.

      most deadly combo is pharra, mercy, echo, or replace either of those dps with sombra. I'm still having fun this season but im having to switch off Hanzo more frequently or work harder as him for less results.

      @@curie1420 seems like you misunderstood me there, or my way of writing. If so I'm sorry for that but I stand with parties that agrees with Hanzo one shot, being a sniper character hitting that juicy headshot and all you hear is that headshot dink and enemy doesn't die is frustrating. I'm a Hanzo main myself and hate the change.

      As a silver player, it’s true. He is good in silver, but despite how well I can play him at my rank, I can’t rank up, I always go down. Honestly considering swapping to a more impactful character until Hanzo is more rewarding to play.

      @@TayyabTVnot really, he’s had one shot since launch. If widow gets to have it he should too. They can make it so that his projectile size remains pre-season 9 so he’s high effort-high reward.

      @@TayyabTV well, im sorta 50/50 on that, sure no more one shots means no more luck, but now hanzo is pretty much useless, unless you have like 1000 hours on him to hit consistent shots. And no one will be playing him in lower rank. Hanzo is now a terrible character, and it wont be changed.

    I actually made a concept over on Twitter for what changes they could make to Hanzo to add one-shot back while also raising his skill ceiling. The changes also aimed to hopefully reduce the appeal of spam, and reward carefully aimed shots. I know the changes look a little scary at first, but don't worry. I'm no "Game Balance Expert", but I tried my best.
    I'm sure you can find the original post if you search with the BUFFHANZO hastag
    Storm Bow
    - Maximum Damage reduced to 110 (220 on headshot)
    - Maximum Projectile Speed reduced to 100 m/s (from 110 m/s)
    - After an arrow has been fully drawn for 0.2 seconds, the arrow will become ‘supercharged’, and will have its damage increased to 130 (260 on crit), and its projectile speed is increased to 125 m/s.
    - Charge Time decreased to 0.632 (from 0.732 seconds)
    - Recovery Time increased to 0.6 seconds (from 0.5 seconds)
    - Projectile Radius decreased to 0.125 meters (from 0.175)
    - (Potential addition) Now has up to 30% damage fall-off, starting at 40 meters, and reaching max fall-off at 50 meters.
    - Added a visual indicator around the reticle that gradually fills as the arrow becomes charged. The indicator turns orange when your arrow becomes supercharged
    - When Hanzo's arrows become supercharged, there is a subtle shimmer effect and sound (on top of the already existing subtle draw sound) See Hanzo’s Storm Bow ability in Heroes of the Storm for reference.
    - Note
    These are a huge array of changes to how Hanzo’s Bow works. There is now a sharp increase to how fast and powerful Hanzo’s arrows after the bow has been fully charged, encouraging players to take their time. Along with this, the projectile size has been changed to reward accurate and carefully aimed shots. Noticeably, 0.1 seconds of the charge time has been shaved off and added to the recovery time. This adjustment aims (no pun intended) to reduce the overall appeal of spamming, and make Hanzo more reactive with how he can use his weapon. Hanzo is a marksman-style hero with a single shot weapon, so landing your hits should be rewarded.
    Originally, these values were swapped (charge time being 0.1 sec longer, recovery time being 0.1 sec shorter), but I didn’t think it would work well to reduce spam. I kept bouncing back and forth between such ideas, but I’ll settle for this direction for now. To hopefully have the best of both worlds, I added the small 0.2 second delay before an arrow becomes supercharged. That way you can have more options on how to use the weapon depending on the threat and situation
    One excuse of why Widowmaker is sometimes exempt from one-shot gate is that she’s a hitscan, so shots either hit or miss (allegedly, there’s less of a luck factor and more skill involved). With this logic in mind, if Hanzo’s arrows were much faster, there would be “less time” for them to travel, and as such, less time for some poor sap to walk around a corner and be served a delicious arrow.
    Storm Arrows
    - Damage decreased to 65 (from 75)
    - Cooldown increased to 10 seconds (from 8)
    - For each arrow not fired, Storm Arrow's cooldown is decreased by 2 seconds. (Not firing any arrows will not incur it's cooldown)
    Note
    In Season 9, Hanzo’s Storm Arrow ability was buffed to compensate for his one-shot being dumpstered. However, now that his one-shot on 250 HP heroes (The new norm) has returned, he won’t really need these changes anymore, especially since spamming is something not even Hanzo players like doing.
    Wall Climb
    (Should really affect all Wall-Climbing Heroes)
    - Wall Climbing is now a fixed 8 meters per second, regardless of movement speed. (For Hanzo, this is an Increase of 0.85 m/s. For Genji, this is an Increase of 0.2 m/s)
    - Wall Climb can be used again if you get off the wall while you still have duration left.
    - Added a gauge to show how much of Wall Climb’s duration has been used, which will immediately refill upon touching the ground like normal.
    Lunge
    - Restores up to 0.5 seconds of Hanzo’s Wall Climb when used (can’t exceed the cap of 1 second).
    - Has a little more upward impulse.
    - During Lunge’s initial dash, Hanzo will now slide up incoming inclines instead of getting stuck. Now working similarly to how other similar abilities work.
    Note
    Lunge now has a new effect of restoring a small duration of Hanzo’s wall-climb. Lunge and Wall Climb are often used together, and this new mechanic will give Hanzo players more potential with their roll-outs and raise the skill expression of how both abilities can be used. Just imagine seeing Hanzo start doing wall jumps.
    Lunge will now work similarly to other lunge-type abilities to decrease the chance of getting stuck on small upward inclines, and give more freedom to how this ability works with the environment.
    Dragonstrike
    - Cast time reduced to 0.85 seconds (was 0.91)
    - Arrow travel distance before dragons appear reduced to 8 meters (was 10)
    - Dragonstrike length increased to 50 meters (from 40)
    - Dragon speed increased to 50 m/s (from 40)
    - Damage per dragon increased to 175 (from 150)
    - Dragonstrike’s damage ignores damage resistances.
    - Can now damage constructs (I.E. Turrets, Immortality Field)
    - Cost increased to 2000 (from 1850 (For reference, the same as Cassidy’s Deadeye))
    Note
    Dragonstrike has always been a lackluster ultimate, ever since Overwatch 2 especially. It has always felt like more of a normal ability. The only real use it sees is as an area denial tool, but it’s not really good at that either.
    The cast time and distance before the dragons appear being reduced is a small but potentially big change to the pacing of the ultimate itself, as before, the effective cast time of Dragonstrike was about 1.41 seconds (0.91 sec cast time + 0.5 second delay before dragons appear). Now, it’s only 1.25 seconds.
    The length increase makes Dragonstrike a tad bit better as an area denial tool (which is what the ultimate is supposed to be good at). It’s worth mentioning that while the speed means it reaches areas quicker, it also means it passes faster as well. With the change to both the length and speed, the time it spends in one area is roughly the same with the bonus of reaching it's area faster.
    The flat damage was increased to bring it in line with Season 9’s health changes, and the introduction of ignoring damage resistances makes this ultimate better against tank-y compositions without having to scale the damage incredibly high.

      @@thestranger1164 I actually had an idea that was kind of like that. Sonic Arrow had a shorter base duration, but if it directly hit an enemy, its duration was increased.
      I decided against it, because I think Sonic Arrow is fine the way it is.

    Think my worst experience was hitting that perfect headshot on a Genji right as he bladed and dashed into my backline only for him to survive, smack my supports, and then deflect so all I can do is look at him and realize he should have been dead... just as when we were boys.

    It sounds like what the devs actually want from Hanzo is a character who waits for targets who are less than full health. So either you take out enemies who push to far forward or when focusing on a target with your allies
    This doesn't sound like a bad idea, just a completely different playstyle than what a majority of Hanzo players are used to

    This video is why I stopped playing overwatch as much they nerfed Honzo, Junkrat and Rien to near unplayble levels and they didn't decide to buff any of them this season

      @@kingofgrim4761 the problem with removing the junkrat combo by making it no longer kill, is that the only playstyle left is being the spam junkrat
      I played mostly Hanzo, but when I didn't want to have to aim as much I'd always pick junkrat and play to pick the backline, now it's much more unreliable and it's better to just spam

    I get the big damage numbers in stat every game but it still feels boring overall, cant get over the fact that a headshot never kills anyone. Makes me wonder why do I even try to go for them in the first place.

    I’m curious if they could instead do a charge mechanic for him where after 1 second of max charge you get a power shot that you can fire that does about 30 more damage. That way you can still ohko every squishy besides bastion/armored 300 hp squishies, and you can’t just spam one arrow after another and have to take breaks in between shots to get a one shot. This also would have Hanzo play more of a playstyle where you’re looking to time that perfect arrow for a kill

    hanzo is not a dps anymore his a support now.Hanzo just there to reveal enemy with sonic arrow and tickle enemy with so many shots for team to get the kill.

    they should give hanzo a sweet spot like battlefield 1. where for example between 30 to 40 meters his arrows one shot to the head. so as hanzo you always have to place yourself in that sweet spot to get the value from it.

    5:42 IMO, Without Mercy, Hanzo is vulnerable against enemies more than ever. There are no longer need to be shoot through head for easy kill, it feels me like I'm useless. like you said, you have to flanking. Because of that, if your team haven't Mercy (or Kiriko) I don't want to be play as Hanzo , even I choose him in early game, I feel like that I have to change. Since then, I've enjoying w Venture most of time now.

    Arrge getting the "Superman II" Hanzo experience that I get every game. I don't land headshots often or much at all, so people don't get one-shot. I'm used to having to hit them more than once. :)

    post nerf no pocket hanzo is a constant blueball. I can't even begin to tell how many times Mercy and Ana survived with 10 hp or how many times I headshot a genji blade dashing towards me but still died because he has 10 hp left.

    I'm playing Hanzo on flank but it's very hard to be stealthy and have a good positioning. I feel like we have to take more risks.
    There other way is to play with your supports behind the tank and just annoys the other team supports.
    And headshot don't feel satisfying anymore, when I headshot someone I'm just like "huh... Ok next time..." The only opponents it's satisfying is against tracer and widow.

    Hanzo needs an overcharge ability. Overcharge to do extra damage, hold it for too long you’d lose accuracy.
    And then they need ragdoll pin for arrow kills. Makes hanzo 100x funner.

    They should definitely bring one shot back, the issue with the arrows was that they were too big compared to the rest of the dps heroes which explains the "random" head shots that people complained about. So, bring one shot back, but reduce the size of the arrows to the size of hitscan bullets, and add more noise and visual indicator to them. There, problem solved. Everyone's happy.

    I understand most of the issues spoken here , as metal rank player (EU) i feel already that the pressure made by hanzo arrows are pretty non existent since most teams just turn to you and start shooting without having no regards for expecting to be killed, most times if my flank hanzo is getting kills is most likely cause i am hitting around 50% more of the shots which make it a lot harder to actually do something with the hero in a short spam of time and they are still using the heroes the arrow can one shot like tracer or widow, the moment they swap from those heroes or start contesting me my value drops to nothing since we need insane more aim to finish the kills faster that they can sustain or flee from.

    If blizz are that worried about Hanzo having a one-shot. They could have a high-damage cooldown arrow. Think something like Sojourn's rail, maybe it resets on a kill like genji's dash, idk. Or they could just make him normal again

    Remove the dash and put an ability in right click to throw a supercharged arrow dealing 260 dmg on headshot with a 6 sec cooldown. This ensures no spam arrows hit strong, but a precise one, rewarding the skilled hanzo for the precise head shot with an elimination

    after ow 1, this games kills me every time i play it! Op heale und tank charakters + no oneshots makes it hard to go on with your love for ow.. and i have 2kh Hanzo playtime and want more, but atm its not more this fun it was anytime :(

    i kinda like that people dont pay attention to me this season but its so infuriating that i feel like i have to use my storm arrow to ensure a kill at times. It definitely feels like im tanking because im always keeping up with the other DPS and tank in damage but not necessarily having more kills because im just pushing them back and making space. Sometimes i randomly get a pocket mercy and then its like god mode has been unlocked.

    Arrge, how do you get your sensitivity to be 1.875? I can't seem to do that, the game interface won't accept more than 2 decimals and rounds it to 1.88 whenever i try it

    Lucio so loud with footsteps it actually gives me a headache lol. Idk why though but all sounds in game sound like it comes from opposite side. Like i would hear something in right ear but they are coming from left, idk if its my hearing or headphones, and no they arent on backwards.

    got thousands of hours myself on hanzo, i get their intention for the change, but I don't enjoy how much it relies on teammates for the supplementary damage to determine if the fight is won or not

    Hanzo needs a lower dmg per bow shot and higher firerate it would fix him , like 200 dmg instead of 240 and 100 instead of 120 and then faster firerate so u still have to land same amount of shots

    Well in metal ranks where i am i have bootleg one shots thanks to moira always throwing damage orbs, i don't think the one shot removal is really thaaaaaat bad, it can also force cooldowns they could need for team battles or even force some ults, so is not a full waste there

    And dont forget, Venture can two shot like hanzo, except they dont need headshots in order to do it! And the combo is super fast with cc so you can't easily escape it! Seriously. It's such a shame Arrge, because I can see the difference in your playstyle as an adaptation to the change. It's more frantic and less calculated.

    Its whack because uts fine when widow head shot kills, but when hanzo does it it's annoying. It just sucks that the Devs benefit the people that complain about the likes of Hanzo and heck even Genji. If players get good with theze characters, they get nerfed and their enjoyment gets sacrificed for the enjoyment of everyone else.

    I kind of wish they'd give Hanzo Kiriko's triple headshot modifier on his arrows so he could oneshot again, and then nerf his bodyshot damage. That would feel way more rewarding to play him solo without turning him into a dps monster.

    enemies can just hard push in your face knowing they won’t be punished for it and it’s so tilting, feels like any 1v1 is a loss if u don’t have storm arrows

    Man i was really enjoying the game by playing the way you played, as an assassin. They took it from us, there's no reason to play hanzo anymore. I usually play some cs2 when i'm bored of ow, but now i can't do that neither cuz of cheaters. What are they doing to my games man

    It feels so meh to play Hanzo now it's crazy. I get nothing out of it. My face looks as dead as yours. You really feel like you're just shooting arrows vs before when you felt like a trained special character who is a member of Overwatch.

    If Blizzard wants this new style for Hanzo he has to have a better ultimate. That's how other characters who just spam damage for have trouble cleaning up are built around.

    For a while I've been trying to think of ways to fix new Hanzo without going back to the one-shot, since it's pretty clear Blizzard doesn't want to. Things like better projectile speed/fire rate, more flexible movement, etc. Watching this video, though, I had a new thought.
    You mention how Hanzo is only really good for dueling Widow now, even though Widow herself is better at it. Well, imagine if more heroes than just Widow had stayed at 200HP. I have a few in mind but it doesn't really matter who. Just having that small pool of characters who Hanzo is more effective against I think would have gone a long way to making him feel like a niche yet impactful Hero. I doubt Blizzard would ever do targeted HP reversions - it's probably less likely than a Hanzo buff - but it's interesting to think about the hypothetical

      you mean the whole support role..? while widow can just deny one of the supports, they have to back up after 1 kill so hanzo should be able to do the same because they're snipers
      the point of snipers in ow is to deal with the abundant of healing, 2 pocket healer? kill them rightaway with a headshot, zen ult? kill them with another headshot, the list go on...

      Certainly not the whole role, but definitely a few of them. Kirko, Ana, Mercy, maybe Illari. But I was also thinking characters like Sombra, Genji, maybe some like Sojourn and Echo, and y'know - even Hanzo himself (but only if you buff his movement). Do it mainly to high mobility and long range characters, to emphasize the high risk high reward playstyle of the former, and make the latter more punishable when they're out of position

      @@geminimaxxim yea it could work to some extend like you said, but it still turn into the sombra versus ball situation (pick and counter pick) and it's probably not very good anymore
      if the game revolve around hard counter then it's still introduce a lot of problem to both hanzo himself and other characters that get countered by his 1 shot.
      and, even though the game is designed with the counter swap in mind, doing it to the extreme would just makes people rage quit, and i think if you spend enough time with 1 hero you need to be able to deal with every single character to some extend.
      also, changing any of the heroes hp will essentially make said heroes weak against all other heroes and not just hanzo himself

    So at first i kinda enjoyed the different play style. But now when I lose fights i should’ve won purely based on other dps that are just better suited at doing their job. I have 200+ hours on Hanzo and it’s really sad to see him get nerfed because it completely changed the feeling of the hero

    All in all, ever since they added storm arrows they didn't want hanzo to be a oneshot hero anymore, since you're basically able to secure at least 1 kill with the ability itself, every 8 seconds. There's no reason to chase after the instant gratification of a headshot since most heroes don't oneshot anymore, welp unless you're hardscoping on a widowmaker. But headshot on widow does take more aim and is less unforgiving than the arrow itself. We've seen this path solidifying for a long time and personally I don't think it's worth chasing a dream, that is obviously avoided by developers. They want to make this game appealing to everyone and dying from a certain direction with one projectile or stun is not part of it anymore. But maybe I'm wrong and they'll change their mind again.

    New Hanzo
    Pros: people stopped whining about spamzo or saying lucky, you can still do your thing if your teammates work with you, you're not threatening so you can take advantage of their lack of attention
    Cons: you need storm arrow to solo kill or a teammate to follow up, you're essentially a riskier less consistent sojourn, you're not threatening so they run you over
    I never had a problem with one-shot, but any buff they give him to get one (like, shooting while lunging or holding the bow full draw longer or something) is gonna make people complain. I dunno man.

    I just miss your old assassin playstyle....you had more strategic moves and patience... now it is more spam dmg
    without the one-shot hanzo doesn't make sense...and storm arrows is a pathetic ability compared to what others have....
    let's not forget that they also removed the ability to climb and shoot with fully charged arrows...so 2 nerfs
    bliz never showed the same love to hanzo as they do for other heroes...it's sad....
    it get's even sadder when most supports can easily 1v1 hanzo and they don't even try to avoid or fear....just straight up 1v1 and 90% win

    i think hanzo isn't as fun anymore, but i think his storm arrow is really reliable still, especially with discord. This is why i play other heroes and i don't one trick hanzo.

    It's kind of funny though, the only game I really do well with Hanzo anymore is when the enemy respects me. Without that, there is really nothing stopping them from dogpiling you. If they don't want to bring back the one shot they should at least give him more movement to compensate for the lack of damage.

    I have over 2k hours on hanzo as GM and for me there is no point in picking him anymore. It is just boring to play him and as you mentioned the impactloss is considerable
