    Most of my projects are powered with a single 18650 cell, a TP4056 battery charger/protection board and a MT3608 based boost converter. Battery lasts far longer than a 9 volt and it's rechargeable!

      18650s are most versatile cells i ever used and they can be easily charged from any 5V usb device, capacity is superb when compared to alkalines, i use 2S instead of 9V cell and it gets me 4-5 times more capacity but i have to use external charger

    What is the largest boost converter you came across? I'd like to go from 12v to 30-32v at 40amps to charge my 29.4v battery bank. When there is no sun to charge it. I would maybe like to build one. With a ability to charge lithium battery. Basically a large version of the mppts 1072 charger. It's only 10 amps. And a boosting solar charge controller. That also can be just a battery charger . powered by other means. I'm trying to build a emergency charger . to charge from a car alternator mounted to a engine. And use it to charge a lithium battery bank. Great video.

    There's a neat terminal block device you can buy on ebay for around $7 that takes the 24 pin output fron an ATX power supply and splits it to 3.3v 5v and 12v on screw terminals, with fuse protection on each. I'm going to add a booster to 24v and that's me sorted for a bench power supply.

    Never saw the boost converter you were using. New or old model? I'm sure it came by slow boat but do you have a link to seller? I have a weakness for boost and buck converters. Thanks...

      James Williams Lots on Ebay, Aliexpress, Amazon etc. Search for "12V CONVERTOR".

    Let's get Started! I made a 24v(28.8v actually) scooter battery pack. Used an LM2596 adjustable step down power. supply to power my frankenstein rc motor setup.

    Ok, so it won't turn over a car starter motor, but could a charged USB power bank be modified to trickle charge a 12v car battery? bork bork bork!

    Nice one!
    Just check how much A your battery can provide and put load that want draw more A, or in best case it will just stop working.
    I try to drive too long led strip 12 V (1.2 A)/meter from just 1 18650 and 1 meter is max, after I done my maths dc-dc step up is 2 A max so it cant provide enough W to led strip, and battery can give 1 A max (shitty ones). Wanted to share my failure to help others save some time and waiting for new pieces from China.

    The trouble is that you draw 4x the current at the low end. Eventually, you need cucumber-sized wire to drive your electric moped at 36V. If you want to go completely nuts with the boost idea, I think you got to invert to AC, then transform to high voltage, then transform back into DC.
    You do seem to have those mischievous Swedish Chef hands!

      That's why I put "it won't start your car" in the thumb and then went over the first law of thermodynamics and then said we were trading current for voltage. Should I add an end card as well?

    • @GnuReligion
      @GnuReligion 6 лет назад

      Like your content, am not trolling. My ADP eats some annotations, so do not see the thumb. Surely, you recognize the drawbacks of boosting from the Robert Heinlein reference! A project that I play with here at home, is re-arranging cells from parallel to series with mosfets, in order to create voltage gain.
