Could you compare Neo 3 Link vs Quest 3? I'm mostly interested in PCVR and i have Pico, so is it worth upgrading to Quest 3?

  • @iiiiiiiii3529

Is it worth buying this headset if I am completely new to VR and have never used a similar device (and are there similar devices)? I'm attracted to the uncompressed DP connection in this device, and the compression in Quest 2 scares me a bit. And from what I understand, the Pico Neo 3 Link is the only hybrid device on the consumer market that is a standalone device and has a DP connection.

Great video. I have only 2 question please......
    1) do the controllers have capacitive touch (just touching the buttons without pressing them, useful for things like VR Chat and some games)?
    2) Does the DP cable bypass the battery system thus not having to worry about the battery running low when using it for PCVR like the Quest-2 over link cable? (still drains the battery but slower drain, if battery is dead, you are out of luck)
Depending on the answer to these questions, I could be interested in replacing my Quest-2 with this thing (when it becomes available in Canada) since I bought my Quest-2 as a PCVR HMD and I can honestly say the compression of the Quest-2 is annoying.
    Thank you. :)

Is the IPD slider the same as quest 2, whereby you can go in between the numbers ie 1.5 and 2.5? I’m interested in this headset, but my IPD is 66 and on setting two on the quest 2 I get eye strain, but 2.5 on the slider was perfect for me.

If you have the Quest 2 I don’t think there’s a reason to get the Pico for wired gameplay. You can get the Reverb G2 for slightly more on sale ($450 sale was on Memorial Day)

@@robertweekes5783 I race in a discord group and the amount of times the guys who have reverbs have crashed because their reverb lost connection is ridiculous and that put me off along with no headphone jack. All racers in my league have ditched their reverbs and only use when racing off line. I’m hoping the pico comes good and be my new sim racing headset. Quest 2 and link cable for sim racing is horrible. I still use my rift s for sim racing. I’ll take rift s sde over the link compression any day, especially in fast moving racing games.

@@voodoodevr-en can you actually answer the question though?
and you not seeing a difference is fine, but there's absolutely a noticeable difference in purely input latency from 90 to 120 to 144hz.
Also what most people forget is that displays have variable input latency depending on the refresh rate so the perceptible latency increase as the refresh rate goes down.

I went in to know the Resolution, FOV and the difference from PICO 3 to Quest 2, but nothing was said about it; I still don't know. Resolution, FOV and Herts are the most important things to say.

    • @melvinest
      @melvinest 2 года назад +1

Resolution is the same, FOV is very comparable (maybe 1-3° difference both horizontal and vertical, also depends on IPD) and both are 72-120Hz depending on setup and games. I assume it wasn't mentioned because it wasn't really relevant to compare since they're practically identical. Could have mentioned at least that though.

@@shojo8708 The visuals are crazy. Minimal godrays (compared to cv1 I would say non existent). when projecting white on black I can see them if looking for it (also see concentric rings if at the "right" angle ) when not gaming snd just looking for flaws. Baiscally set pitch black background and moved controller in front of my face to see them and they are there as a slight halo. On my cv1 it was the most disturbing thing to me(i could live with the low resolution back then, but now i wonder how i would feel :) ). Theres ocasional frame drops (i think...its very apparent that it skips a few frames) regardless if i run alyx on ultra or low, so need to dig deeper on that.

@Lukas Salomon Besides, if people speak about quest 2 compress/decompress being a good way to go, they should have experienced quest cv1 over non USB3.1 or higher.
ONLY decompressing beacons headset positional data (that is also monochrome) loaded the CPU TONS. So just imagine what a 4K compress colour image at 72-90 fps makes for the PC CPU and in the other end on the XR2 CPU to decompress.
Just another reason why quest 2 over USB will never become as good as Pico over DP.
I have an old i7 + GTX 1080 and PICO was my salvation. Good rez but no com/decom due to pure DP, less load on CPU. 4K really being on the edge, but it works pretty well on the 1080 over DP i must say. I'm very early in setup and i have ocasional stutter (seems like a single feame drop) but haven't even started looking into reprojection or my msx limits. HL Slyx showed the exact same issue on ULTRA as on LOW so it's either that Halflife doesn't update on the fly (pretty sure that game would say so on prompt if thst was the case) or some other driver or likewise bug.
Im glad I didn't have to try tons of USB3 cards lile i had to do on roft cv1 (after carefull studying which component base worked and didnt work for cv1) so i think that with some additional input from other users and a few patches from pico, this will run VERY LEAN being the 4K it is. And cant wait for desktop ..havent tried Wifi yet butbheard it sucks pretty much. Only have WiFi5 router (Asus 2900) either way behind a door but can add an Asus AP easy if I want but old WiFi5 standard pre AC so doubt it will do any good.
Better ping likely but less bandwidth.
