I don't know who all needs to know this, but if you click on the settings button and turn off "Stable Volume" then ASMR videos sound 100 times better. Like the brush sounded like it was on my brain.

I think people will fall for the punchier version of having SV turned on, but the reality is, if you turn it off and simply turn the volume up, the fidelity of what is happening next to the mic is dramatically increased, while the room sound is reduced substantially, which is pretty much what you want in the ASMR context. Ironically, the function of the feature is supposed to be the opposite, lol. Instead, the compression seems to be lumping everything together and boosting it as one sound. Interestingly (according to YT), Stable Volume "doesn't affect music", which is why it's grayed out on music videos.
yeah it's essentially a compressor, which can be good for just watching videos where you don't want drastic changes in volume, but with ASMR you miss all the dynamics and nuances of the sounds that make them so tingly!
