    Everyday except Tuesdays I feed my betta a combination of New Life Spectrum Betta Formula pellets and Omega One Super Colour pellets. I usually feed him around 2-3 pellets every morning. Then depending on the day of the week, I feed him Hikari Freeze-dried daphnia or bloodworms. I also want to start feeding him frozen foods, like brine shrimp and bloodworms, but my family is not too keen on letting me keep frozen fish food in our freezer.

    Beautiful rainbows. I know you might not own betta fish or know much about them but I was wondering if you had any potential videos on betta fish care and feeding. I have one in a dorm and the hard water is making his fins curl and break. I also have a hard time feeding him because he's very picky

    Hi Mike.. I seldom feed flakes. Not sure why but I'll get some. I do like giving my fish a wonderful variety of fresh, frozen and pellets. I think it's important as well. Excellent information. BTW.. when I feed my fish I share with my cats.. Finn is crazy for the bring shrimp freeze dried cubes. lol I"m sure it's good for him too!

    I have a 55 gal with 2 large goldfish, 3 dojo loaches, 7 cory cats, a school of 7 white clouds, a school of 7 golden or rosy minnows and 7 golden mystery snails. My fish all LOVE hard boiled egg yolk. My dojo loaches gobble it down so fast that it comes out of their gills. They literally go nuts and all of the other fish love it too. Yet I never see it recommended. I also take the can that water packed tuna comes in and rinse it in the fish tank to get all of the little bits in the creases at the bottom of the can, after removing the tuna. All the fish love the little bits of tuna. I also throw in a few pieces of dry cat food once or twice a week. The dojo loaches will even go to the top of the tank to nibble on the pellets while they are floating. My goldfish will literally jump out of the tank attacking the floating bits. And of course all the fish polish them off once they get waterlogged and sink. I also make sure that there is leaf lettuce or spinach floating in the tank for the goldfish and golden mystery snails and after it breaks down a bit, the rosy minnows will have a nibble. They get flake food, shrimp and algae pellets, but they seem to enjoy the fresher foods more.

    Okay so for my tropical tank, I actually have a little jar where I have the flakes, worms and brine shrimp mixed, as I've noticed some of my fish in community tank either love or hate just worms and shrimp, and I'll feed that 2 to 3x a week, usually flakes otherwise

    I've been having issues with some guppies not liking sinking food so I got some FD Bloodworms. After the first feeding they seemed to like them more than frozen but I have recently read freeze dried food can cause bloating. There weren't a lot of first hand accounts but I was curious after seeing this video if you have noticed any issues with the FD foods.

    So, why didn't you cover frozen foods? omega one and hikari are often known as the better pellets (I hate the flakes, blech, but that's personal preference) but frozen foods are the freshest and contain the highest amount of nutrients. just came over here from aquarium coop, your videos are pretty great and I'll be adopting a version of your dwarf cichlid tank for my rams, just honestly wondering why you don't use frozen!

    Wardley is NASTY. NLS flake is a MUCH better choice, and cheaper or equal in price. Hikari also doesn't do it for me, unless we're talking about frozen or freeze dried. North Fin, Omega One and NLS are my go to brands for processed foods, personally. Read the ingredients, and don't pick crap with soy and rice etc... Also, skinned frozen peas, blanched zuchinni, cucumber and, carrot, greens, banana...

    • @Qyu1000
      @Qyu1000 6 лет назад

      Tyler P But NLS and OMEGA uses whole fish which is bad. If it's the 1st ingerdient it will move down and end up as 6th or 7th ingredient because whole fish includes everything(bones,guts,water weight) If it's whole fish meal(whole fish processed and dried) and it's the 1st ingredient it will be the 1st. Hard to explain i don't speak english.

    just a consideration-Omega One makes a really high quality cichlid food, Aqueon kinda sucks (has corn, unnamed fish meal, and other fillers that aren't really good for fish) Omega One uses lots of different kinds of fish and high quality spirulina and kelp in their foods

    • @Airhawk360
      @Airhawk360 7 лет назад

      yea, I've found that too. I've heard some people can have difficulty getting their fish to eat Omega One though. Some of mine will eat it, but some people have difficulties with some fish in that regard. HIkari is often a good second behind that. Of course, Repashy and NLS are up there in quality too.

    I have cichlids, mainly peacocks an small haps. And when I see that some of the main ingredients are wheat? Hikari cichlid staple I'm looking at you. You know it's a low quality fish food. Some sort of fish meal or whole fish at the least should be the first ingredient and you should not see a lot of wheat or soy. After watching some other videos and dealing with bloat I'm being very picky about my fish food now.

      I'm new to all this. The most I ever got into with aquariums was a start up tank and a few goldfish and plecos. I was interested to see you said you had issues with bloat. I had dealt with bloat in my goats during spring (lol) but didn't realize fish could suffer from them. As it is now I am in the process of getting 60 gallon tanks and starting my first attempt at planted tanks. Thank for posting this. it gives me something to read on to be sure I know what I am doing.

    Just to add, Hikari brand fish food is not very good to feed to fish as it contains lacking nutrition. See for yourself by reading the ingredients. This would not kill ur fish but would decrease their lifespan like it did to mine.
