- Chicago, 1968. As the city and the nation are poised on the brink of political upheaval, suburban housewife Joy (Elizabeth Banks) leads an ordinary life with her husband and daughter. When Joy’s pregnancy leads to a life-threatening heart condition, she must navigate an all-male medical establishment unwilling to terminate her pregnancy in order to save her life. Her journey for a solution leads her to Virginia (Sigourney Weaver), an independent visionary fiercely committed to women’s health, and Gwen (Wunmi Mosaku), an activist who dreams of a day when all women will have access to abortion, regardless of their ability to pay. Joy is so inspired by their work, she decides to join forces with them, putting every aspect of her life on the line.
Inspired by true events, Nagy’s film captures the essence of late-Sixties social change via one woman’s quest to get a safe and legal abortion. - Кино
I don't know about the movie, but the comments were to die for! LOL!
The military can drop this movie on the enemy now that it's officially a bomb.
That bomb will hit harder than Little Boy and Fat Man.

Can’t believe we ended up back here again.
same. Makes me sad.
Because women let men decide what they can do or don’t. There will be no humanity without women, yet men treat women like women belongs to men. Men can’t stand women having a say over their bodies, their economic situation, religion, status in a society.
Men refuse to compite at an equal level with women.

I loved this movie. I think Elizabeth Banks is very pretty and also this is an important movie to watch considering the times we are living in right now.
All the negative comments are from salivating right wingers who can't wait to make abortion completely illegal in the US.

Who cares. This movie depicts events that happened over 50 years ago. Exemplifies the crisis women in this nation were in. And the bottom line is this. The USSR got one thing right. Legalized abortion access was available as early as 1920. That is the way is should be.

I truly don't know how some of the women here can be proud of that what the movie shows.
Women's power? Please. I call it being stupid not power. What ypu have power over? Your body? And Then do you have power over your mind when all of it comes back to you over years and you dream about your child being 20 years old now. ...but is not here because you wanted successful life.😢

@@OlafLesniak The coldblooded contempt and hatred directed at a pregnant woman who may die by men who care about NOTHING but "a healthy child" is so chilling. The scene where they use suction to take a pregnancy out of the uterus was deeply emotional and inspiring. Call Jane, movie of the year written all over it!
What are you talking about,,,,,movie of all time!
Suction out a pregnancy? No -suction out a baby who had just been torn to pieces alive . Yes . Must have been very inspiring and emotional. It is a shame the whole process cannot be heard properly as the baby in the womb can’t cry. Would have added to the thrill . What a shame! Right? There is a video on an actual suction by an abortionist who repented and came to his senses - I think it is called ‘silent cry’. Shows a baby showing pain and trying to escape the abortionist just before it was shred to pieces by the suction tube of an abortionist. You might want to watch it to feel more inspired.

So glad this movie bombed in theaters
@@shawnac9289 that they did.
Well it bombed in theaters-- $250,000 out of over 1000 theaters. That's more than a black eye. The reviewer on IMBD described at "rather average." Of course, the point was just to rally the troops.
Sorry, it's gonna be a red wave, cause people don't want to be poor
I wish this movie was paced like Hidden Figures. It should have been great, but it dragged. I guess it needed more material. I think it also could have had more humour. Maybe it could have had the chronological order jump and show events, then go back and reveal how that happened. For eg, when the blonde became a second doctor figure, she could have appeared doing the procedure, and then we would see how that unfolded, looking back. That would have added to the humour, pacing, and still fill in everything in a more entertaining and poignant way. Same with the multiplying of the doctor figures. They also could have appeared behind the sheet doing the procedure, surprising us after the blonde is gardening and swearing she's quit the business. Interchange that with "but we're not doctors", etc. And how did the fake doctor learn? And how did they get the equipment? Could have been hilariously enterprising. I was expecting the blonde's daughter to need an abortion, but that never happened. Or the cop who really needed the service. I thought that was it. They were tricked. They should have played that out more. What about the fake doctor? He was losing a lot of cash. That's a huge liability. He should have been kept on the roster alongside the others. I'm really surprised nothing came of that.
I came for the ratio! 1.3K likes - 7.4K dislikes 😂😂🤡🤡
I liked the part where when the abortion was over the doctor pulls a mask off and it's the devil and he winks at her!

I live in Texas & this is so powerful. I am so grateful so many people are putting art together to help teach the history that we are being forced to now relive in some parts of our country. It’s hard to process that doctors are being told to not administer healthcare to women & girls in the ER with unviable pregnancies until they are at death’s door. It’s hard to process that republicans here are not releasing the data on maternal death rates in Texas until after the midterms. I’m with a lot of people here living in the most populated red county in the nation & we are on the frontlines here. Thank Heavens so many are taking on those trying to take us back.

Every woman needs to watch this movie and think about it when voting.
I agree, it's vile that 50% of the people in the US have lost access to healthcare.
@@alicedeen720 Yeah it is so unfortunate. I hope the right things keeps happening, in the meantime I shall continue to weep with millions of dead babies forgotten
@@darth_santos1137 Do you mean the 'dead babies' that never make it to even become considered a pregnancy?
You know the numbers that don't get that far don't you?
Also, the term 'babies' is not correct, collections of cells are more descript.
I take it you are a pro-life - 'f' the mother sort of person then?
@@alicedeen720 What is vile is your attempt to frame abortion as a healthcare issue. The same as this vile movie does, because, you know, every abortion involves a mother who is likely to die in childbirth, not.
@@matrixdecoded4226 The right to choose is actually healthcare, that simple.
It is the woman's body and her choice, my friend.
A ball of cells or the woman's entire life down the pan. Who picks then - you - your deity - who? It's a lifelong commitment affecting all her days to come.
Some hideous states protect the rapist's ball of cells, forcing the woman to carry it to term.
This law will hopefully be soon removed when people start to wake from the mindless religious terror that attacks the US. While that happens women will go to back street butchers to stop the cells from dividing more. Women will die doing that, but I guess you are happy about that.
You are wrong, it's a really good film, you should know the science and real life stories.
Most women from a poor background suffer in poverty and so does that child.
Forcing a woman to bring a baby to term is vile if she does not want to. It changed her body forever and is not always a good process for everyone.
Why should we force a woman to do this?
You cannot force a brother to give his kidney to his sister to save her life, can you?
Nowhere else is a person forced against their will in body matters.
Let's see, so the script was written in 2017 when no one cared about this topic, In October 2020 they announced the cast and began filming in May 2021. Is this a freaking coincidence that on May 19th, 2021 Gov. Greg Abbott signed controversial abortion law? So they were ready, once the law was signed, the propaganda ministry dropped the flag and screamed: FILMING, FILMING, ASAP!!!
Best movie of the year, Elizabeth should have got an Oscar, but wasn't nominated of course I truly can't praise this movie enough 10/10

The cast, storyline, cinematography is beautiful.
when ever someone say there pro life, i always ask who life, the mother or the childs?
Yes, because a mother's convenience and ease is in life is superior to a child's right to live. Or are you saying abortions are only performed in circumstances where the mother would otherwise die in child birth?
@@matrixdecoded4226 the mother's life is always at stake. there is always a risk of death or physical and psychological harm when it comes to pregnancy and birth. pregnancy changes your body forever. it's not out of inconvenience that people choose not to carry on with a pregnancy. maybe, if you actually ever talked to a woman who had to go through that kind of thing and actually listened to what they had to say, you'd understand
@@IlkaWaffy "maybe, if you actually ever talked to a woman who had to go through that kind of thing and actually listened to what they had to say, you'd understand". Talk about hubris. You really must not be very bright if you think the odds of me having talked to a woman who went through pregnancy is remote. Really I am flabbergasted that you have the audacity to presume this. I guess it is an example of the sort of careful thought you give to your utterances.
" the mother's life is always at stake. there is always a risk of death". as is everyone's. The risk of dying in childbirth are lower than the risk of dying in a car accident. Do you advocate for the abolition of cars? You are at risk every time you walk out your front door. Do you cower inside? Best not you can die in the home as well.
" pregnancy changes your body forever". What a revelation! So does puberty. So does growing old. But if it really bothers you that much don't get pregnant.
"it's not out of inconvenience that people choose not to carry on with a pregnancy". Really? Not wanting to lose your figure sure sounds like a matter of convenience. Not wanting the responsibility of caring for a child sure sounds like a matter of convenience. wanting to go to college sounds like a matter of convenience.
Do you even know how few abortions are performed on the basis the pregnancy might put the mother in physical danger? About 1 in 6,000. So please stop putting it forward as though it is the dominant reason women have abortions. Convenience is the dominant reason.
Women have had this knowledge since ancient times.
