I wasn't serious about no boy will ever be good enough because I do not want my angel to be mad or hate me she was 2 weeks old when I heard this song so if u can imagine all the emotions that went threw my head. Sometimes learning lessons can be hard. For instance, imagine a child was born and the other person ditched the woman because of financial stress or something of that nature. That is a lifelong lesson that could be detrimental to both mother or child. Men should be able to support themselves first and then others if they want to be making a family.

Getting an approval is important too. You would want your family and even your friends to like who you're marrying. You can get married anyway without their blessing, but your significant other disliking your friends/family, or vice versa can be a problem in your relationship down the road. Your parents just wants the best for you. And just because you're fully grown, doesn't mean you will always make the best choices. I've seen fully grown people have kids when they don't even have a job nor a stable living condition for the child. And it has nothing to do with how your parents raised you. Your surroundings will influence your choices in life, and if you messed up, it doesn't always mean it was your parents fault. At this point in your life, you have no one else to blame but yourself. Your age is just a number, it doesn't define your ability to make good decisions. =D

Your singing talents (and those of your wife) are great, and I commend you for writing a well-written parody of "Rude". However, while I'm not a fan of the original song either, I have to respectfully disagree with the message of the song.
While I respect that parents always want what's best for their children (including who they decide to marry), the fact is that after a certain age -- say... the age of majority -- what a parent *thinks* is best for their child may not necessarily be exactly what IS best for their child. So, yeah, in all this, my main thought is, "What does the daughter want? Are any of her own wishes and desires in this whole deal actually getting addressed by either of these men?" And you know what? If she decides to marry him anyway, despite the fact that her dad said, no, do you really think that killing him (or even threatening to), even if that is thrown in for giggles, is going to endear you to her?
I know I should just take the song for what it is, and see that he's just having a laugh... (and yeah, seriously, the original song is a total blick-fest too) but everything about what this parody says just rubs me the wrong way. Still kudos for writing it. Not many people can do a good song parody, and you managed to nail that.

I at least respect this song for being specific, which Magic! did not.
1. This is the first time the dad has ever seen this guy.
2. The guy drives a Ford Pinto, which was produced from 1971 to 1980. It has a reputation of bursting into flames from rear-end collisions due to lax safety standards for American cars at the time. Not a car to be taking someone on a ride...
3. The guy only has a job in fast food. Minimum wage. And he's 28.
4. The guy still lives in his mother's basement.
5. The guy called the dad "rude" simply for saying no.
6. The guy threatened to run away with the daughter.
I don't know about any one of you, but if THIS guy wanted to marry my daughter, then I would not approve either. I wouldn't threaten to punch his face or put him at the bottom of a lake, but I can understand why someone would. Think about it. This is your daughter, someone you took care of up to their early 20s, someone you love more than anyone else in the world. Although she has her freedom, whatever happens to her will indirectly affect you emotionally (and financially if the husband cannot support her). That is a scary thought.
