  • First Look At The NEW 2025 Dodge Charger!
The last Dodge Charger with a Hemi V8 engine rolled off the production line in 2023, but it’s not the end of the road for the famous nameplate. Dodge has recently released the first photos of a pre-production next-gen Charger, which looks a lot like the Charger Daytona SRT EV Concept they presented almost 2 years ago.
Yes, the Dodge Charger goes electric! But will it also be available with a gas-fed engine? Let’s find out!
How it looks - latest images
A few weeks ago, Dodge surprised everybody by releasing a few photos on their social media accounts showing off a pre-production Charger. The post read: “No cameras or recording devices permitted. Pre-production model shown. Available late 2024”
In the photos you could see a dark gray version of a Dodge Charger from several angles without camouflage. It looks very much like the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept debuted back in 2022. The word “DAYTONA” is embossed into plastic on the rear bumper, hinting at Dodge’s intention of retaining the name for the electric 2025 Charger.
In the front, narrow headlights flank an open front clip with a spoiler that directs the airflow over the hood. In the center, there’s an illuminated Fratzog logo, that’s also been featured in the presentation Dodge gave for their Charger Daytona SRT concept.
The images also provide a glimpse of the new Charger’s body sides and tires of different widths. Moreover, on the driver’s side rear fender you could also see what is a charging port or perhaps a cover for the gas tank filler neck.
Moreover, the bulky backside looks very similar to the Daytona SRT concept.
What could we find under the hood?
Well, back in 2022 when they presented the Daytona SRT concept, Dodge proclaimed they were done making big, supercharged V8 muscle cars. The announcement came as a big blow, and it surely raised some eyebrows. I mean, you’re Dodge, you’ve been building and selling over two million Challengers and Chargers and you want to stop just like that?
As it turns out, they won’t. Or at least that’s what rumors say. According to various reports in the market, the 2025 Dodge Charger will offer both a full-electric version and a gas-powered one. The big bet is on the 3.0-liter Stellantis Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engine to continue the Charger’s gas-fed legacy. This 3.0 inline-six new power unit is set to pump out V8-level power figures with fewer emissions. It’s currently powering the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and it will also come with the 2025 Ram 1500.
In its current applications, the engine can make 468 lb-ft of torque, with either 420 or 540 horsepower. But apparently this new aluminum inline-six is capable of a lot more than that. There are talks about a version of this engine with a completely forged bottom end that could hit the 1,000-horsepower mark. But still, will it have the same zing as a V8?
According to unofficial reports, the 2025 Charger will be built on a new LB platform, and it will be equipped with a GME-T6 Hurricane inline-six engine in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. The power will be sent to the wheels via a Stellantis Gen 4 transmission, which is a new version of the old classic eight-speed automatic. Sadly, no one is saying anything about a manual.
Now, these are only rumors. The company’s official statement is that the 2025 Charger will be propelled by electric power only. But then the CEO Tim Kuniskis goes on and says that the STLA Large platform underpinning the new Dodge car could potentially accommodate both electric and gas powertrains…and then there are the rumors about the Stellantis engine…so, there is still hope! Some cynic commentators say that Dodge’s frantic denials about a future gas engine were meant to pump up the hype around the Charger Daytona SRT concept and the EV.
After all, they can’t let the Mustang rule supreme over the Muscle car segment.
But aren’t you curious to find out about the EV as well?
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept
Let’s take a step back and look at that EV concept that Dodge proposed to us some time ago. They called it “the future of electrified muscle”. The Daytona SRT concept was presented as an electric performance coupe ready to carry the torch of its outgoing growling V8 sibling.

No matter the EPA regulations, the only way to keep this car from criticism is to offer it with a V8 and a supercharged version. The demand for such engines will always remain incredibly high because it won’t be a proper American muscle car without them.

Nobody was asking for an EV Charger. This EV thing will sell a few at first, but that will be it. The Hurricane version, if it comes, still is shady. I think the Hurricane is going to have severe reliability/durability problems. The Hemis sound so good and v8s are just part of American culture that I don’t think it will do near as well as the Hemi Challenger/Charger.

Godlike that is a reach! It is only a car at the end of day. The muscle era is not going to die it is just going to be reimagined. Look at what was considered a muscle cars back from 1974 - 2004 all of those years of crap that could not even touch the numbers that this has stock as a low trim model.

The car looks amazing.I hope they offer some kind of V8.The silly electric motors are for lawnmowers. Not offering a V8 engine even if it was a dohc V8 would be like making it front wheel drive with a four cylinder engine..👍😋
