    Ok nice lil loop you got there, but altough you got it in the ball park, what really makes Villalobos and good minimal producers standout is the ARRANGEMENT.
    The way you develop your track from start to finish using less stuff but keeping your listener engaged and not getting boring.
    This loop you have there for instance could be arranged into a full track easilly. The question is could you get there without sounding boring and predictable?
    For me its safe to say most people interested in minimalistic music can get some pretty decent loops but they cant develop the loop into a finished song.

    • @caioteixeira1541
      @caioteixeira1541 5 лет назад +3

      Arranging this kindas of tracks can be a little intimidating but its all about "micro sequencing".
      break up your loops, shift them around a bit to create interesting rythm changes and create movement by using delay, panning and other types of automation.
      Also, keep in mind that since you dont have a lot of elements pretty much anything you change will be perceived by the listener.
      So chopping up your hi hats, using some delay or some oddly sequenced snares, shifting one perc element by 1/4 step here and there goes a long way.
      Try playing whit your own stuff as well, like lets say those texture synth he has... Make one big note out of those, throw some reverb and delay and record it.
      Now you got yourself a good unorthodox "Crash" or "hit" to go on a break or play into a 1st beat on a 8 bar change and you have a nice sweep if you use it reversed.
      You could also use it as a atmo for the song automating the pitch so it moves a bit but doenst get out of the song key, make it a new percussive element by using a gate and the list goes on...
      Use your limitation to get creative with what you have. Hope this tips helped a bit.

    • @audiokern
      @audiokern 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the answer.
      Could it be that these micro sequencing things are generated by the modular system? And I suspect that every element will be recorded in a live jam. This is a bit awkward with the mouse on the computer.@@caioteixeira1541

    • @caioteixeira1541
      @caioteixeira1541 5 лет назад

      @@audiokern yeap it is a bit awkward using daw to make this but ableton has tons of midi sequencing fx that can be combined and controlled to achieve this unique live recorded vibe. You could also, if you don't want it to change dynamically through the entire track, record a section of the free running sequencing / modulation and loop it

    • @DannyVDub
      @DannyVDub 5 лет назад +2

      Think modular synth: sequencing your sequencer, using gates to trigger shift registers, sending gates from a clock divider through a mixer to create a melodic sequence, etc. These elements can be left to run on their own. Essentially the synth plays itself, or with you and vice versa. These elements could be created in Max for Live.

      I think you´re right but Í can´t expliain HOW!!! hahaha i know a lot of people that speak like this 2 guys saying that "you dont need analog gear to get there" but you know something...NO ONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD can achieve his sound, so now a days i really think that only with that gears he can get that sound. I´m an analog lover and only produce with analog synth, but i can´t afford analog gear to mix like him. So yes i agree with you
