Have you cut a really large portulacaria afra and rooted into a new plant? I have a really big one (2 meters tall and about maybe 10 - 15cm in diameter for the trunk) and thinking to sacrifice it to produce several bonsai.
Enjoyed the update, Nigel. We just had a passing rain shower so I came back indoors to watch your video. Going back out to work on some orchids. Have repotting to get done.
Really love the ratchet pruners, beggars belief what they'll go through! Also found they are excellent at trimming plastic mouldings too! Thanks as always for the videos, so useful to see the work I need to do to my trees :)
Hi Nigel, I did some hard pruning on my money tree a few months back. I used that silver HVAC tape to cover the wound, it healed so well that you couldn’t tell there was a branch there. It was about a 1” diameter
Love the money tree! I can't manage to keep one alive, lol! I was thinking, with the scale problem, maybe it would be a good idea to let the greenhouse lie fallow the rest of the summer...?
First time I've disagreed with you! I wouldn't have done that big cut on the money tree. But there you go. Love the blue scissors/ Walter Pall method of deciduous summer pruning. Need to get some, but will other colours work as well?
I just got a money tree bonsai as my first ever bonsai and I’m very excited but nervous it is just one trunk with some green branching into leaves like yours I’m assuming you envision the stems as it would age and prune harder in areas you want less growth? Would love some advice from any fellow bonsai lovers
Can I get help ..how long in leaves or length cm ect do I let new leaders grow before prunning ....to create a new leader and also busher ficus...atm my ficus has 4 main leaders at the top of classic s-bend bonsai..with 2 leaders comming of one branch...3 leaders comming of another branch...and 2 leaders comming remain 2 branch's. .thanks all
Sir Nigel, if you can take the pump apart, there's the possibility of replacing the motor. It would be a shame to spend that much for it to die already. Also, as new as it is, I figured it would be under warranty.
Your money tree is quite nice and looks healthy. Am little worried about some of the elms though, something seem to be eaten at the leaves and some discoloured spots.
American elm tend to have multiple trunks, they are reaching in all directions! The second elm you worked on is beautiful!! I can see a couple branches in there that could be nice trunks!! Dutch elm is terrible!! I had a big old one outside the shop I work in. It came out in full leaf, and by July it had dropped all of its leaves and died…. The same season!!! So disappointed ! I know Dutch elm kills fast… On a more positive note! Beautiful trees Nigel!!! You should stick some chop sticks in your hair!!!
I wonder. I have seen some information that these plants can be started from a single leaf. I do know that it is possible for a leaf to root and not necessarily give you a plant. Have you ever tried it from just a leaf?
hey Nigel , i love your videos its very informative and we share the same hobbie BUT I have got to ask you ...is that your real hair ? (dont mean to be rude)
Nice video Nigel! Did the Spruce tree you dug up from the front yard back in 2017 live? I ask because I have a similar one I was thinking about doing the same thing to. Here is the link to that one. ruclips.net/video/TxGv2AGDor8/видео.html
Hair style is phenomenal
Ya gotta love the “big cut” braveness!! That’s a cool tree the money tree.

You're like the Bob Ross of gardening. Happy little trees.
Wow, thanks!!!
Hard to believe I been following your trees for 3 years now! Keep up the good work Nigel
I watch your videos just for your hair. Fantastic!

Money Tree is in good hands with Dr. Saunders. Nice trunk.
That T shirt would be perfect for disappearing into in a grove of young red maples!
Nice to see those trees up close!!!
Money tree are very popular here no matter on the sidewalk or bonsai issue, and the maple tree are so beautiful, I want one too^^
The trunk looks like someone holding the leaves up on the red maple.
Very cool.
The money looks good, it would be better if they fruited money or gold lol
Agreed! Xin, if you ever manage to get such a tree, can I please have a cutting? 🥺
@@sbragaglia I will start my research on how to develop a tree which fruits gold then cuttings for everyone!!!
I love those American elms - very jealous :)
Howdy from a toasty Boston evening☀️☀️☀️
Red Maple. Nice looking tree.
I'm also excited to see how your elm develops. I really love the character of the trunk. Cool to see some shoots.
Love that money tree. Simplistic and nice base. I love unconventional species
Very nice! You make us all more brave with those crazy big cuts!
Cool Elm!
Wonderful parade of trees, Nigel! Thanks for sharing! Really enjoyed the selection and the pruning!

Cool trunk on Elm 2.
Amazing makover! Love it! 😍
Maybe mixing in just the tiniest bit of soap into Mr Mister once a week would keep the bugs away. Thanks for another great video!
Interesting, it might just work!

Nice, great tip!
hi, let's listen to my friend, I'm a bonsai hobbyist from Indonesia, greetings to a bonsai hobby
love the t-shirt !
makes it look like you have a green beard lol
💚
Your money tree kind of reminds me of a palm tree 🙂
Lovely tree. My money tree is going crazy this summer. I have two trunks as well but I’d be so scared to prune it back so severely!
Love the money tree! I can't manage to keep one alive, lol! I was thinking, with the scale problem, maybe it would be a good idea to let the greenhouse lie fallow the rest of the summer...?
Nigel how is your juniper from the store doing ? Not sure if I missed an update on that .
First time I've disagreed with you! I wouldn't have done that big cut on the money tree. But there you go. Love the blue scissors/ Walter Pall method of deciduous summer pruning. Need to get some, but will other colours work as well?
It's nice seeing a more natural pachira. Not a fan of the braided trunks you can get at stores. That trunk has some chonk to it.
Can you release Lady Bugs in the green house to wage war on the bad-bugs? Or is that available in your area?
Hey Nigel, is there any work on your big yew coming up this summer? Greetings
I think the big yew died; I hope I’m wrong.
How does the roots of the Money Tree feel after its hard root prune in January?? Greetz
what a nice tree you have. quick question i wanna ask how to grow a trunk like yours, what do i need to use ?
Time and some hard pruning!!

The money tree would look good in a glazed pot.

BUT
I have got to ask you ...is that your real hair ? (dont mean to be rude)
Yes it is, it's very curly, almost like an afro!
