I LOVE how we both cut the wire to exact length the same "professional" way!!
Would also love much finer tweezers than everything available. If I can see the tip without microscope, too thick.

Louis Rossmann 37:31 I am cursing watching this and I am not even the one doing this. At one point my hands were moving as if I was the one doing this. I had to remind myself, this is just a video, you are sitting at a restaurant not trying to separate wires with magnetic pieces of metal, relax...

This has to be one of the most amazing repair videos I've ever seen. Being able to repair damage like that is simply outstanding, huge kudos for showing us how it's done. My regular soldering skills are decent, but maybe someday I'll be able to come and take a microsoldering course from you - troubleshooting and repairing something like that looks like so much fun!

i realise this is an older video , but you mentioned filling down your micro pencil, !! I would love to hear more about what type of file ie diamond ones or just any type also how much did you file down ...?? I have only used mine twice and ( un filed ) but all the tinned tip has gone black and it refuses to take any solder , also have same trouble with my 2023 tweezers but those tips where secondhand , but would filing these tips not remove all the pre tinned tips completely !!! Another great video by the way 👍🦄

For fucks sake, who puts that many traces under a screw hole? It's common sense that you don't put any trace where it can get damaged by a screw. You have to admit, they are pretty creative in the ways they make servicing their products a nightmare.

On the topic of tweezers and needing to find a new pair....
I saw in one of Louis' rants a short bit about Hakko tweezers are worth the money, currently I've got a conglomeration of various ifixit tweezers, some that our boss bought, and other inexpensive ones I've turned up. Do the Hakko or other high end tweezers hold up better? I've probably got only one curved pair that meet at their point right and don't look like something from a dr suess book under the scope. Same goes for my picks, is it worth spending the money for the higher end tools or am I just going to ruin $15 tweezers and picks instead of $2 tools?

Yes--but there is no substitute for a ton of practice. We have student project boards to simulate trace repair. You'll get to try placing microjumpers for traces and you can take it home for more practice. Trace repair takes a lot of time --more than 5 days--to offer it professionally

Hello Dear, I am a follower and admirer of his work, actually im starting to repair my iphone 5s.
I have a binocular like yours but I have a doubt about the working "distance/zoom" of the oculars and auxiliary lens on it.
How many magnification are you using when soldering? Can I know your microscope configuration?
My microscope are 4.5x - 45x (with 10x oculars), the working distance for this magnification are 10 cm but with 45x is not sufficient to work in the traces, I bought an auxiliary lens 2x which make the microscope 9x - 90x but this had reduced my working distance to 3 cm(no way to work on the traces), so this is my big doubt....
Can you help me? I would be so grateful.
    Thanks in advance :)

Hello, nice video))) i have a question:
you repaired one right cut through screw damage, but you've told before that both of them can be damaged and they lead to different malfunctions, please can you tell what are they, cuz i just got a 5s with both of them OFF, will dig through in the right one and fix it, but are there traces below the left one too??? THis phone has common sympthome, it shows apple ons start, then goes not blue but black... will be recognised by itunes and even makes softwareupdate, but then same thing...apple logo and black screen))) i guess this is same malfunction, but would be interesting to know that the left broken screw usually affect. THANK YOU)))

Hello! Wow I am surprised to see your video. I got stuck on the apple logo too, but not a blue screen, just the apple logo and then automatically resets. Could that be also long screw damage?

no--that's more likely corrupt software, if there is a hardware cause it could be bad usb handshake chip Tristar from gas station charger usage
