  • WALKING IN SORRENTO, ITALY: This walk was filmed on May 19th, 2018. Sorrento, also known as the Gateway to the Amalfi Coast, sits high up on the mountainous Sorrentine peninsula and looks out over the Bay of Naples. Take a walk through its ancient streets, past boutiques, and limoncello stands and then down to the old fishing quarter, Marina Grande. From there you'll see amazing views out over the bay as you walk down the cliff face to the beach clubs below. There you will see Marina Piccola, Sorrento's main port where you can catch a ferry to the surrounding islands including Capri, Ischia and Procida. Finally you'll walk up a winding road and end up looking out over old ruins in the Valley of the Mills. 🎧For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones and listen in 3D audio. ================================================================================

    Unlike other travel videos with young people talking nonsense over it, constant selfies, bad camera work & annoying music, this is one of the best travel videos ever! No chat, it does exactly what it says, we get the sense of what it's like in Sorrento. Fantastic! 🎊🎉

    My wife and I have holidayed here for two weeks for the last 3 years. It is the most romantic place, with wonderful people and excellent little restaurants. The boat trip to Positano is not to be missed. We shall be going again in 2020. This video shows why. Brilliantly produced.

    My wife and I are planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast of Italy, as well as Venice. Our feelings at first was that Venice would be the highlight, and a coastal community was somewhat an afterthought just to add to Venice. But after reading about the Amalfi Coast, looking at online pictures, and watching your wonderful video, we are going to try to stay at the Hotel Prestige in Sorrento, and explore the stunning beauty of the region. Your video has convinced us that we must go at all costs. From Sorrento to Amalfi to Capri to all of the other beautiful places to visit, it convinces me evermore that our friends who spend their vacations lying on a beach for a week are wasting their lives when there are beautiful places in the world like Sorrento just waiting to be discovered. Thank you again for such a varied and beautiful walk. These are the kinds of videos I love to watch on RUclips!

    Watched it from start to finish because we hope to spend our 50th wedding anniversary there next September (2019). We are still fit and walking these streets would not be a problem for us. We live on the Isle of Wight and some of the steep climbs from town to beach are no more than they are at Ventnor, so they wouldn't phase us. The trouble is, after watching this video we feel we have already been there, so may actually choose somewhere else along the Amalfi coast now. But you never know.

    • @ProWalks
      @ProWalks  6 лет назад +1

      Congrats on your upcoming 50th anniversary! I was wondering if this would happen for anyone...watch the video and then think they no longer need to go. :) Sorrento is a nice place to base your trip though. Pompeii and Napoli are just around the corner and the rest of the Amalfi coast is close. Sorrento has plenty of parking and hotels...the other towns are pretty small.

      Capri is a definite full day or overnight excursion. There is a beach area to the right just off the marina when you depart the ferry. I usually take the funiculare up, but if time allows, walk down. There are two paths that bring you down to opposite sides of the port. Be sure to make the walk to the Augustine Gardens. It's a trek, but the view will never be forgotten. I prefer that to the trip to the Blue Grotto. There is a great hotel up there adjacent (Hotel Krupp) worth an overnight. Yeah, it was a perfect day. I actually went the weekend before too but I didn't like the way the video came out so I went back again and it turned out much better. What do you want to see next? Today I went to Sermoneta and the Garden of Ninfa. I went to Florence yesterday but it was way too crowded....and too bright out to make a good video so I came back.

      ProWalks Would it be possible for you to do the Isle of capri,my dream walk would be Tuscany and the etruscans tombs,hope it's not too out of the way for you.

    • @ProWalks
      @ProWalks  6 лет назад +1

      Hey, yeah Capri is up next on my list. I actually haven't been there before so it's a little harder to plan the walk. I'll probably head over there the week after next and check it out and the hopefully get the walk in before I head back to the states for a bit. And yes, I went up and hiked some of the Etruscan trails and bought a book and mapped out all the trails I want to hike. ...but..there is only so much time. There are a bit of a drive from me. It is on my list for sure though. The book I bought is called The Etruscans and the Hollow Paths. It is pretty good.

    • @davenix604
      @davenix604 6 лет назад

      ProWalks I will definitely get the book,I am so fascinated by the etruscans, all we know about them is through their art and what the Romans tell us,and yeah you are right,you can do as much within your schedule,I love Sorrento so much,that deep gorge in the beginning and the colours throughout are mindblowing,also the picture quality is supreme..if you could do Capri that would be great,your walks are like a treasure trove,my favourite is the colosseum, got to see all the 4 levels and Herculaneum which is so well preseverved.

      Please go back to Florence. We are going this year. We went to Sorrento 2 and 3 years ago and this video brought back so many memories. Also you showed us a new route down to Marina Grande that we didn't know existed. Bravo for a superb video.

    An absolute delight! Thank you for this wonderful experience! Exquisite little shops with lovely, sunny lighting and tastefully exhibited merchandise, such a wealth of beauty, trees, flowers, ocean. Wisely done so that people can walk easily (and stay in good shape!). So much history, if those stones could talk! Clean sidewalks, breathtaking vistas, environmentally friendly. (Only the graffiti seems inescapable), but a thoroughly life-affirming experience. We need it very much at this difficult time (Coronavirus 2020), and we shall make it through this as we've made it through all sorts of extreme times. Love, peace and light to all. Thank God for this
    beautiful world!

    I would suggest that you book the excursion to Capri through your hotel. The mini bus will collect you with the guide and others to take the Ferry to Capri. The guide will give you some free time and later on in the day you will board another boat that takes you around the island of Capri. It’s fascinating.

      Hi Paul, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I would like to bring value to the viewer beyond these videos so I have a question for you, if you don't mind. After seeing my video and knowing that you'll be in Sorrento in a few days, is there anything more you would like to see included with this video? Say I had a website, would you want to see maps, hotels, restaurants, more pictures, more commentary about the location, things to do or not do, etc. Thanks!!

      @Paul-gk9hc 5 лет назад

      ProWalks personally I like the little facts that you add when you get to a point of interest, it would be good if you could expand on them a bit more. And maybe a list of your favourite restaurants in the area?

    The harbour side was not so built up in the 1990s and usually at the Marina Piccolo there were only a few fishermen mending nets. Sorrento is a very picturesque place. The video shows the main features of the town and it nice to go shopping late in the evenings.
