My favorite version of Emma. Characters are as I imagined as I read novel. Great acting all around, particularly Mr Woodhouse. I watch this version about three times a year and have never tired of it. Tnx for posting.
Thank you very much for posting this excellent version, so much truer to the spirit and the plot of the book than later versions! John Carson is perfect as Mr. Knightley, as if he stepped right out of the book, and Donald Eccles as Mr. Wodehouse, and Fiona Walker as Mrs. Elton are a hoot to watch. Jane Austen would probably like this adaptation and the performances! I bought the DVDs and watch this at least once a year, but this great-quality upload gives them a break from being worn out.
I love this version. I rented it off Netflix ages ago when they were still sending out the little red envelopes. :-) I thought I'd never find it again. Now that I know what to look for, going on to Amazon and order the series... Thanks so much for uploading this. :-)
It won't appeal to those young ladies first attracted to Austen by a certain Mr Darcy plunging into his lake fully clothed. I suspect it's the version most true to Austen but the actors aren't very appealing so...
My favorite film/TV version of Emma. The title music would drive my ex-boyfriend insane when I fell asleep watching it, leaving it to play over and over again all night. 😂😂
The missunderstanding between Elton/Emma/ Harriet is well protrayed here. Elton more interested in Emma and Emma not seeing that because she's into her matching game😀😂
I know this is an old comment, but in case anyone watching has the same question, Knightley is nearly 40 years old in the book. He's 16 years older than Emma. Hence, the casting.
I love this version of Emma! True to the book, and the cast is perfect! Love this Harriet!
Yes I quite agree my dear! It is the very best version. I am in Yorkshire...so near to Mrs Churchill....
I do enjoy watching these old BBC adaptations. This one features the perfect Mr. Woodhouse.
Best Emma. The actress is really talented.

Exactly. I wanted to shake Emma all the book long because the mess she made ...
I totally agree
Обалденная экранизация. Единственная настоящая, в отличие от последующих поделок. Just love it!
I love that music in starting!!
this Emma movie 1972 is my fever.i love it!!!

I actually like this version. Everybody looks normal. Like real people. Not Hollywood A List actors or actresses picked just because they look good.
British drama was like that, it still is to an extent compared to the US.
+Rosalina 90 true

🤣🤣The theme tune is the only thing I don't like about it!
This is a delightful novel by one of my favorite writers. Richard Shaw is the author of Writing As Consolation (Audible.com)
I like it v much

The first one minute was torture, and I look forward to suffering through the whole thing some day.
Patty Sherwood It’s a fantastic serious. Definitely worth the time it takes to watch.
BBC has come a long way since this....just saying. :)
+Eleazar Bendixen A very long way. Of course P&P 1995 gave them a lot more to work with.
Eleazar, yes, BBC has come a long way since this - all downhill.
I've uploaded the series in 480p /w optional English subtitles from DVD. There's a playlist for the whole series on my channel.
thanks so much
Emma;s portrayal could be Glenda the Good Witch of the North ,,,,,
У этой Эммы постоянно вытаращенные глаза.
да, она имеет лицо очень на любителя. но посмотреть интересно для сравнения с остальными версиями. несомненно у каждого любимая версия своя
40:00 nooo miss wood house is wrong🙈
I thought as much @ lopez
👀☕🍰
Why is Knightley a 45 year old man? Awful casting.

@@sinivarmirako9161Thank you. Interesting.

I don't like this Emma, but it's better than the latest version
