    I’ve just come across this series & I couldn’t be more happy. Today, March 24th 2020 - the day after Boris Johnson announced we *all* must self isolate for a minimum of 3 weeks & only leave when absolutely necessary (& I have to self isolate for 12+ weeks).. It’s been an eery & difficult day. Knowing there’s a plethora of period dramas to watch on RUclips has somewhat helped my mood; I’m sure it’ll soon pass.
    As for people saying they’re glad times like this are over.. we’ve learnt so much from these times, let’s not be so hasty to shove it in the background.
    Thank you so much for the upload! Especially at a time like this. Much appreciated & I hope all that may read this are staying safe & well x

    I love this show,…especially right now when I have been feeling so terribly depressed. It’s on of the series that comforts me temporarily somehow. My Primary Care doctor yelled at me and snapped angrily at me for bursting into tears when talking about how seriously depressed I am and I don’t know how to handle this. I thought maybe THIS show would take my mind off of that horrible experience for a bit.

      SPOILER ALERT: It is a mix of conditions. I watched to the end too, and I disagree with you. Lydia flourishes and will likely have a very happy life. Mattie works it out eventually and assuming the time in Africa is not too dangerous, she'll marry Ned
      and have children. He'll find the right work for himself easily. Hannah will have a cloud over her always, and her future seems quite perilous. She should have left Billy with Mrs B and tried to find another way to save him from typhus.The crazy thing is now she is chained to Isabel and her nasty husband who will probably have his way with her or drive her out. And when Billy is sent off to school, dear God. Mrs Sinjin's husband will pretend the baby is his and they will go on. Constance and the peer will be solid into the sunset.

    Just started watching this. I’m struck again at how some parents place entertaining above parenting. Sadly, it still goes on today. I raised 6 great well behaved good children and managed regular dates with my husband and friends , but I never left the raising of them to day care.

    • @fionnaheller1873
      @fionnaheller1873 8 месяцев назад

      I agree - and I raised 7.

    • @fionnaheller1873
      @fionnaheller1873 7 месяцев назад +1

      @peacenow42 It isn't, I think, about judging those who use daycare so much as a comment upon the way things are nowadays. Times have changed beyond recognition. Even iIn my early adult years it was possible for a family to manage very respectably on one wage, leaving a parent, usually the mother, at home with the children and attending to the care of the family on various levels. Part time work was often supported by family [grandparents] living close by. I knew women who worked, had careers and relied upon daycare, but those were very few and far between. More often than not, the older generations of family would take care of the children. i preferred to create work that could be done with the children around, so I was always there and they always took precedence. Honestly, I think the old ways were far better although I do appreciate all the arguments I've heard supporting the ''new ones''. I'm still unconvinced. Seems to me that modern parents have a hard time of it and I feel sure the children don't benefit as much as claimed.

    • @justines8160
      @justines8160 7 месяцев назад +2

      Well, not everybody is lucky to stay at home and raise their kids. I assume you took care of them everyday, cooked from scratch, scrubbed the house from the bottom to the top with no help whatsoever, no cleaning ladies and of course you had still plenty energy to go on dates with your husband. Yeah, sure

    • @fionnaheller1873
      @fionnaheller1873 7 месяцев назад

      @@justines8160 Yes I had 7 children, mostly born at home, and am still working from 4am or so most days, certainly in winter, but regard it more as a way of life that suits me perfectly because I'm happiest when doing something, especially if it is a something i enjoy. Mostly outdoors, almost always physical so scrubbing the odd floor is a nothing task. I do grow our own food, always have, and am so hopeless with packet stuff I find it easier to cook, though will freely admit that I am not sorry my baking everything days are over. I just do bread and the usual stuff now, like jams etc, for family and friends. And you are right - it is really sad that women are fiscally forced to work all hours away from home if they would rather not but then, for some, its something that suits them. And no, I have never had and would never want a cleaning lady. I am not sure what I said that would give rise to that idea?

      People did you know! How do you think the human race got to this point! And they did without the appliances we take for granted -no hoover no dishwasher. And they pumped water, scrubbed doorsteps,blacked their own grates and hand sewed a lot of their clothing. They got up at dawn and worked hard until they had no light. Women took pride in their work at home, even those who had to also work outside it. And men appreciated a woman's touch.

    My imagination runs away with me when I see the period costume and the year 1902. I imagine I see my grandmother aged 14 at that time walking down the street with the same long dress and hat upon her head. One day she told me she saw Queen Victoria in her carriage....I feel strange that I was close to a family member who lived during this time in the same area of London....Please excuse my silliness...I have a large imagination, however the one thing my Grandma and I had in common was art inherited from her, she has passed by I continue on with this legacy.....Thank you for the upload most kind of you and Cheers from Australia.

    B/Square is, hands down, one of the best Canadian/British TV collaborations EVER. I rented this years ago on DVD; loved it so much I immediately purchased the series....then invited some of my best buds to watch it early one Friday evening - and I had to kick 'em out during the wee hours Saturday morning. They simply do NOT make television like this anymore. Each character is unique ("Maddie" is the most similar to me, my friends say) and I could not imagine this mini-series being as successful as it is without ANY one of these three principal characters. I love them all. (And yes....I DO think Lydia and her butler ended up happily ever after!!) ♥ ♥ ♥

      Hello from America. I was going to ask where you were from because we use degrees not Celsius. Here on 8-12-19.

    • @reneelarsen8414
      @reneelarsen8414 5 лет назад +2

      @@shananalexander9789 You mean you are from the "United States of America" (as the entire America is a rather large continent that contains 34 other nations). Incidentally, when you said "degrees" you referred to the use of the "Farenheit" scale, correct? Because FYI the Celsius scale is also measured in "degrees". Greetings from Norway.

      Me too. I was just thinking the same thing. They seem to be a little grittier than now, but more meaningful. And I feel like the actors are too good looking. Characters aren't meant to be models, beautiful yes, but not this model type stuff - think Persuasion 1996 and Mansfield Park - the leading ladies weren't models but still real and beautiful.

    EXCELLENT series. I bought the series after having seen it on YT. Such a shame they don't allow some movies/series to be shown here. I would NEVER purchase anything I had not viewed before. Most films today are trash, but this series is FANTASTIC and worth every penny!

Furthermore, I'm away from home in hospital and Im grateful this comfort is available to me still on YT because I can't access my copy from where I am.

    Well it's December 2018, and I've been waiting 8 months for the next episode on Downton Abbey to come on PBS. Last one I saw Lady Mary's husband died in a car crash she had just had their baby boy too. So sad. I never cry watchin movies let me tell ya the tears we're fallen. Lol. They are one of my favorites. No cussing, decent movies are hard to come by. So in January 2019 PBS is going to start showing the rest of the series. I can hardly wait for my Sunday evenings. Lol. So if I enjoy those so much I know I am bound to like this. Only hope that I can find the complete set. Thanks guys for uploading these outstanding videos for all us U Tubers. Lol.🤜🤛

    My daughter was a nanny for 3 children, one was deaf. And thats how she got the job. She took special education abd asl for 3 years.
    She has her own family now, but celebrates christmas and birthdays with them. Or a summer vacation for a few days. Nice family. Flies her wherever they are.
    She also met The King from Morocco. He was dressed as a regular citizen. She was surprised because she wasn't told ahead of time.
