I've watched all of your videos. I distilled them into 5 key lessons for saving my life: Lesson 1: You are the worst judge of your ability. People always overrate their own skill level.
Lesson 2: Invest in yourself, not your bike. What good is an additional 100bhp when you’ve done no skills courses for a year.
Lesson 3: Never ride above your ability. If you think you will lose your group, then lose them.
Lesson 4: Going fast and straight is easy. Coming to a stop quickly is much harder.
Lesson 5: If you can master control of your bike in slow tight turns then you can near-dammit do anything!

    Mr Jitsu/ Moto Sensei
I just bought the Triumph Tiger 1200! I was going to buy the Tracer GT because I love the bike but they cut me a deal on the Tiger with the factory panniers and made it a no brainer. Since I already have all the Triumph Gear, it works even better for me. The Tiger was originally $21,000 and they gave it to me for $14000 because I have purchased so many bikes from them in the past 40 years. It was more than the Tracer but not by much. Enjoy the Tracer! It's called the "Hooligan" adventure bike because of it's MT09 blood and the super suspension setup. My 2018 Thruxton R with the Cafe fairing is great for short trips. I sold my 2017 Rocket III because it was painful to ride on trips more than 2 hours. I need a bike that I can ride for 14 hours in a relaxed position because like you, I want to se all of the USA on a bike.
Another fantastic video Sir Motorcycle Sensei! 👍✌

Hi Greg, I'm sure you hear it often, but I'm a fan, it's just the way it is... and this since I happened to stumble upon a video of yours last year while I was trying to get my motorcycle license... at 37 years of age...😊 I've never rode a motorcycle before I've started my "adventure" last year, I've learned a lot and I got tons I still have to learn, but I'm getting there... ✌🏼😅😉 ... and I have to say you've helped me a lot, and want to thank you for it.
Now, back to the topic, I just want to congratulate you on the new bike, you well deserve it! Take care of yourself my friend (if I may call you that, although we obviously don't know each other), stay safe and sane in these crazy times, and wish you millions of wonderful miles on your bike! Love and respect from Austria! 🍀

Bike looks great. Nice choice. Welcome to the Yamaha brand :) Couple of tips..On the side cases (same fastening as on my FJR) make sure you always double check they are locked correctly in place and an issue on the locks themselves is.. the 2 tiny security torx bolts come loose and the lock falls off then the case departs the bike. I used thread lock on mine and tightened them up.

  • @Grahamvfr

Fantastic bike, my friend joins me on European trips and I often try it. Fast comfy very economical, but remember fuel gauges often measure level not volume, therefore the volume will be greater in the top of the tank because of shape.
Turns quickly also which surprised me. 👍

@@MotoJitsu Can you share a few key points why you traded Duke 1290 for Tracer GT? I was looking at MT09 (which is basically sporty Tracer) and then started to go towards Duke 790 and recently 1290GT. One of triggers to look 1290GT was your 1290R choice. So, without lengthy description - can you share few key points?
I did a test ride on all of them (MT09SP 2018, 790 2019, 1290GT 2020) so have some of my personal view. Just today 1290GT and ... I've started to think of MT09 again for few reasons. One of them - city (somewhat crowded) ride on 1290 in 26 degrees of C (79F) and after 20mins feels like my balls are boiled ;) Before I saw your new clip on YT :) Never tried Tracer900/900GT. But will think of it now.

@@m.b.5345 The Tracer 900 is not much less sporty than the MT-09. The Tracer 900 GT is still one of my favourite bikes (still don't own one though) because it's a sweet balance of sporty and comfy.

Good for you, bro! Looks like a fun and comfortable bike! Really enjoy your content! You'll have to make a post or video if you ever find yourself up around my way (near Zion National Park) to do some riding. I think it'd be awesome to meet up with ya! I can't go too far on my bike to meet up with you in Vegas or anything, since it's only a 250 Rally and I'd rather avoid long highway jaunts on it. But I've definitely learned a lot from your videos and as a newer rider, your instruction has been invaluable!

Hey man, congrats on the bike! I myself ride a 2020 fz09 and love the sound and performance of the triple. Few things I can say to you: the gas gage showing full for the first 60-70 miles is very ‘normal’, but then it goes down rapidly after that. Also, I can recommend B mode- less snatchy throttle but still full performance (it used to be less hp before, in the older models). I don’t think A mode is more ‘full power’ than the rest, it’s just super sensitive almost on/off throttle.
With a full system and a flash you get around 117 whp.
Enjoy it buddy! Thanks for all the amazing tips and videos.
    Regards from Copenhagen

Wow! Congrats man! Great choice! Love it, one of my favourite in Yamaha’s current model range, the only big minus in my market for this bike is insane insurance costs, guess you don’t have these issue, good luck and looking forward to hear more of your feelings about it!

MotoJitsu® glad for you, I am sure that this insurance issue is only on our market and I have even told about it to Yamaha dealership but don’t think that it will change. Basically they classify tracer and mt9 as the same bike despite the fact that these two are bought for different purposes and are ridden by different type of riders. Basically in Finland mt9 riders ride their naked bike to the posts/trees and commuting tracer riders shares the insurance costs, sad but true 😃

Man, your voice is so nice to hear... Great naration and video also. Subscribed. And yes, I think I finally found the ONE bike for me "BMW S1000XR" which I ordered after trying recently. It would have been Tracer long time ago but I felt like 3 cylinder isn't what I really want (comparing with my beloved Fazer from the past). I hope Yamaha remakes Fazer though. Ride safe, enjoy. 👍

I recently purchased an old school 2005 Yamaha FZ1 gen1 which looks like it is the predecessors to the the Tracer. I got back into riding after an accident, a 20 year pause and living in the north. I love FZ1 for the same reasons. It looks like the Tracer and FZ1 are similar; sport bike handling but in a comfortable upright riding position. One might say the FZ1 has too much power but your videos have taught me how to be a much better and safer rider. Thank you! I didn't buy the FZ1 for the power, I have no desire to do a wheelie, I bought it for the riding dynamics. My bike has a top case and bags as well. Congratulations on the new bike and thank you for these videos! Since my bike is similar, can't wait to see you do the black belt test or some track days with it :-)

I bought the predecessor of this bike in 2015, the FJ-09. Still like the balance, smooth usable power and handling on the twisties. After 5 years it still puts a smile on my face everytime I ride! Unfortunately didn't have the option for factory heated grips and cruise control at the time.

I sold a Tuono 1100 and got a MT09 for pretty much the same reasons. Fitted it out with full Givi luggage etc. Very happy with it. Got it flashed and got better fuel economy along with more power. I coach Advanced riding and its pretty much the perfect platform for it. Dave Moss was here in New Zealand and he was developing a Nitron shock for it along sorting the forks on his Tracer GT. He could be worth an ask on suspension set up.
