This post speaks to me on a deeper level. I built a pretty good video content agency in Australia over the past eight years, with solid clients, but I felt like I plateaued in my business and there were no more challenges. So, I decided to pack my bags and head to Dubai. I've been here for four months now, and to be honest, it's been a tough journey so far. But the amount of lessons I'm learning every day, both personally and professionally, is amazing. Every day I wake up not knowing if this is going to work, but I'm pumped at the same time. By the way, I'm hitting 40 next month.

Your videos are helping a lot. I will turn 40 next year. Me and my wife have 5 kids. I have very comfortable corporate job with Furtune 100 company as attorney. My real dream is to build my own firm and I never have time for this. Takind clients on the side is not helping.

Great Video Chris! I've recently made some life changes, but sometimes I feel insecure that the changes are not substantial enough.
One of my biggest problems has been trying to work towards all my goals at once and overwhelming myself. Eventually, I would succumb to analysis paralysis and procrastination. A few months ago I finally became aware enough of this pattern to try a different approach by prioritizing.
I've now been learning motion design every day since early April. My progress has been steady, and I'm getting into it. However, there is a sense of discomfort I feel by purposely focusing on less. While im enjoying it now, it's still only a piece of the puzzle for my vision.
On Monday I'm starting a new position as a waiter. It's a great opportunity to hone my people skills and give myself the chance to earn more money with similar hours through tips. I'm excited to see what connections I can make, and I think the change in environment will benefit my mental health & creativity.
I'm going to see how these decisions play out, but I often struggle to believe that they are enough for now.

I just left my previous job as a creative director at a Streetwear Store.
My relationship is on the cusp of coming to an end.
And I’m feeling a sense of paralysis from all the potential directions my career can go.
I’m a multifaceted artist with a lot of ideas and talents so picking a specific niche moving forward has been a challenge.
I’m currently freelancing I want to make big changes for this next decade.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

I would rather do creative work in exchange for ownership in the company, problem with capitalism is that once’s someone gets a foothold of power it becomes a matter of survival to prevent innovation

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  5 месяцев назад

Then do the creative work. "Capitalism" is all about innovation. The more you can innovate, the more money you can make and differentiate yourself in the market. I would recommend looking into your mindset and why you feel this way about this topic.

@@thefutur just pointing to the fact capitalism is highly insecure and seeks to crush competing elements, for instance ‘the CIA is the strongman of capitalism’ 💪 its goal is not to make the world a better place, rather to maintain power structures.
I do creative work for an hourly wage, my point is that I would rather do it for ownership without the minimum wage restriction that prevents small businesses from gaining market share - reflecting Thomas Sowell view on corporate capitalism here
I once applied for a photography job at Peter Nygard’s clothing company knowing full well that it was thriving because of sweatshops in 3rd world countries .. this is capitalism, gaining a foothold and than maintaining through avoiding accountability. Nygard was able to operate for ages through the exploitation of creatives masking his exploits .. Oprah Winfrey even gave him her seal of approval by featuring his “capitalistic success” on her show, glamorizing the benefits of slave labour I guess, good luck finding evidence of it tho .. capitalism knows how to cover its tracks
I worked for a winery that was fined for running a derelict operation that caused mold to spread to the neighbouring vineyards (something symbolic about this) anyhow it was owned by Mike Weir and Bob McCowan two very wealthy individuals who couldn’t agree on who would contribute money to running the business and that allowed it to degrade all the businesses around. It was eventually sold by the bank, which originally allowed the operation to get a foothold the first place because of their relationships with said guys (the visa partnership being a key factor). Find it interesting that my role was to mask all this from the public .. creatively of course
