This song reflects the times of my youth in 1975, I'm 49 now and feel like crying knowing how happy I was when in the 70's, I also used to dress up like Donnie, this is my favourite from Donnie & Marie....THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
My mother bought a 45 rpm vinyl record of this song in 1974. I am so glad I can remember that and I experienced the greatest historical period of music: the 1970's!😁💖💖💖
@@MultiElegantman I like Simon because he is REALISTIC!! If you cannot sing....than you CANNOT be in the music biz OR AT LEAST, SHOULD NOT be in the music business. These days, if someone says "you do not have the talent," than people cry and get foolish.
What a wonderful time in our lives!! Broke my heart to hear Donny talk of all the pain he endured during his career..So glad he came full circle and realized that the ones who loved him in the beginning are the ones who love him still, after all these years :)
Hi,I just read your comment and I feel the same. Takes me back to my youth and how happy I was to dress up like Marie Osmond and sing the Osmond hits. I want to cry too for lost youth and the innocence that the Osmonds reflected in their songs
Ah, the age of innocence of Donny & Marie! This has always been a favorite of mine from their first LP in 1975, when I wasn't even a teenager just yet. Amazing how many years later when you haven't heard this song, that you can still remember the words (without looking at them above in the description box). Still a wonderful and pure song sung by them, and what an absolutely beautiful video.
I liked this song even before I knew the Osmonds were Mormons. But now my thoughts are, no matter your faith or the Osmond's faith, this music is much better than so many music of today..
I must admit I was more of a Led Zep/deep purple fan in the '70's but my best mate in high school adored them. The Osmonds was all she talked about...for a long time!! I didn't dislike them but was more into rock. Thanks to the Tube many years later, its like I have started really appreciating their refreshing songs. And yes, I do recall they were pretty good role models. Thumbs up to them.
You had to be a teenager growing up in the 1970s to fully appreciate the popularity of Donny and Marie Osmond, as I did back then. I did have a little crushy crush on Marie, and Donny was my late wife’s favorite Singer of Singers. You kids are stuck with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, and i am shaking my head. Neither one of them will sing a song as beautiful as this. It’s certain.
Oh the fantastic seventies......This is a beautiful song, had a lot of time for The Osmonds, they made some great songs..Marie was stunning as well...takes me back to my High School days....thank you for posting osmondgal
Donny and Marie Show was very popular in our country. It occupied the Prime Time Slot on Sunday Evening. What memories this video brings, reliving those days free from problems and stress.
All these years later, and I hadn't thought of this song for such a long time, but this morning, it was going through my mind for some reason. So I listened to it again, and it was just as lovely as it was 50 or so, years ago.
Wao!! 1975, I was 15, this song was very popular in El Salvador, my country; Donny and Marie Show was very popular in El Salvador, it was on tv Sunday NIght; reminds me of my youth....good memories!
This song always takes me back to the 70s when I wanted to be Marie Osmond. I have always loved the Osmond family and think they are the perfect family and a role model to all of us.
There was a girl There was a boy There was a girl, there was a boy If they had met they might have found a world of joy But he lived on the morning side of the mountain And she lived on the twilight side of the hill They never met, they never kissed They will never know what happiness they've missed 'Cause he lived on the morning side of the mountain And she lived on the twilight side of the hill For love's a rose that never grows Without the kiss of the morning dew And every Jack must have a Jill To know the thrill of a dream that comes true And you and I are just like they For all we know our love is just a kiss away But you are on the morning side of the mountain And you are on the twilight side of the hill And you and I are just like they For all we know our love is just a kiss away But you are on the morning side of the mountain And you are on the twilight side of the hill There was a girl There was a boy
I was 14 or 15 (depending on what time of year) this song came out. Marie had already had her smash hit "Paper Roses". Normally I hate country music, but I loved that song. I was a big Osmonds fan, so I loved it when Donnie & Marie started doing duets together.
Esta es mi cancion favorita de Donnie y Marie, me regresa a mi edad de 15 anyos en 1975......yo queria ser Donnie y cantar con Marie....jajajajajaj....que tiempos los 70's
I can't imagine a world without with the Osmonds. They have brought so much Happiness to all the their Fans who still Love Appreciate them for what they are. A Family with Deep Faith and aren't afraid to stand for the convictions. Thank you so much for being a part of my life. I'll be a Fan forever.

This is my alltime favourite Donny and Marie song. I remember back then I wanted to look like Marie Osmond and I wanted to marry Donny Osmond. I also wanted to be Mormon like them. Both have not lost their good looks and charm through the years as evidenced by their appearance on "Dancing with the Stars". Will always love them and listen to my old records of two of the greatest people in the show business.
Listening to this a teenager, I loved it but never realized how great their vocals were, I'm on a trip down memory lane this morning, just heard Marie singing Paper Roses, one of her very first hits I believe.
I always had a crush on this womans smile. In the 70's watching the Jackson's, we sometimes look at the osmonds, when they came on tv. This white woman has one of the prettiest smiles i ever seen. I thought Farrah had a nice smile, but she was very tooth-e. To this day at Marie's age, I look at her smile. Why didn't she do a tooth paste commercial? I'm sure it would've sold.
I had their first album way back in the day when I was a teenager. Played that sucker over & over till my mom was like, PLEASE play something else for awhile! 😊
I would totally put Donny in the same category as that generation of singers. TOTALLLY would! and Marie too!!!!! I guess I find myself thinking this isn't the duo that's biggest success was that they were "cute" together. They actually can sing seriously as well. Tell me that you wouldn't (even if they weren't Osmond family members) put Donny/Marie in the top 24 of their generation along with most soulful and smooth singers.
OMG, I remember this song as well and singing it with a classmate in front of a school congregation when I was about 12 or 13. Great song for memories.

mis favoritos Donny y Mary Osmond.
What a song!
What a duet!
There was a girl
There was a boy
There was a girl, there was a boy
If they had met they might have found a world of joy
But he lived on the morning side of the mountain
And she lived on the twilight side of the hill
They never met, they never kissed
They will never know what happiness they've missed
'Cause he lived on the morning side of the mountain
And she lived on the twilight side of the hill
For love's a rose that never grows
Without the kiss of the morning dew
And every Jack must have a Jill
To know the thrill of a dream that comes true
And you and I are just like they
For all we know our love is just a kiss away
But you are on the morning side of the mountain
And you are on the twilight side of the hill
And you and I are just like they
For all we know our love is just a kiss away
But you are on the morning side of the mountain
And you are on the twilight side of the hill
There was a girl
There was a boy
