male lions are noted as best fathers of the animal kingdom actually. they are the only big cat that helps raise the cubs with the female and risks his life for his cubs. lioness does the same making her a best mother.

he is a cub in his heart haha even his cubs are wondering what is he doingggg playing around like a kitty :PPP they really seem confused :P they 'd expect him to be more grumpy I suppose !! no fun in that for the little ones hahaha ( Luke is also adorable !! )
That is probably because he was raised in zoo or such ever since he was a cub. So it happens something that mail lions don't fully develop their dominated pride leader instinct.
FireEmber345 That was stupid of you. This is especially impressive because lions are typically very "hands off" fathers. In the wild especially, males take very little interest in their young, often avoiding them. So to see a male being patient and playful with his cubs is really nice and adorable!!

Salto DelPuma "sport hunting" exists because a villager has their crops destroyed or animals killed by a predator or wild animal. being the poor farmer they are, they will gladly be payed thousands of dollars for a foreigner to come remove the animal from attacking them or their crops, and they don't have much use for the dead animal anyways. it isn't reducing the amount of animals there are, it's population control. poaching is the real crime, and they should be caged, however sport hunting only kills the animal that is the problem to the land owner, therefore allowing them to live there in peace, get some money for someone to rid of ONE animal, and still preserving animals by taking out those that are the problem. take that away, and you get more and more confrontations with these predators and it becomes a real problem. i do agree, partially in the same aspect, poachers are fucking dumb and greedy, and should be caged. (i'm not hunter, i just see both sides of the conflict. buddhism has taught me from an early age very good aspects in life :) )
Pieman6711 I do not agree with you about the trophy hunting, but I sure do about the poaching! The hunters and their powerful lobby groups do a lot of mental manipulating to try to convince the world their is benefit to their sick activity. They are not helping that poor landowner, rather they are helping to keep him that way. Anyone could shoot a lion, a wealthy foreigner does not need to be brought in to do the the job. In Zimbabwe, for example, only 2 % of the money generated by the hunting business goes to "the people" or conservation. Almost all of it lines the pockets of corrupt businessmen and government officials... the government which is responsible for Zimbabwe sliding further and further into poverty and famine while a select few live largely. As the hunting industry flourishes, poverty worsens, wildlife population decreases. It does more harm than good. That said, I believe you are correct in that poaching is an even bigger problem, just that it doesn't make the hunting right or good. Hunters also use this argument to try to manipulate people. "Wildlife populations have decreased in countries where hunting has been banned". What they want of course, is for people to therefore assume it is the lack of hunting that is responsible, when that is not the case at all. The opposite, "hunting" is rampant in the form of illegal poaching.. that is what is responsible for the decline. There is such a lack of resources, financial and physical to combat poaching. People are struggling to eat, to survive. Governments are unstable and corrupt. There is lack of healthcare, education, basic human needs.... All of that needs to be addressed for huge problems like poaching to be tackled. There aren't resources to prosecute and legally go after poachers, let alone physically prevent them. I think "sport hunting" not only doesn't help, but contributes to the problems. Also I practice Buddhism therefore try to not have malice toward any beings, but it is a struggle for me with the trophy hunters and poachers :). Not a popular view, but I think they should be sentanced to working on a real conservation program, or perhaps working to hand out food aid, or guard the crops of poor farmers.... have them help remedy the problems they have created. It wouldn't work, there is not the money to create such program or enforce it.. but I like the idea :)

+Pieman6711 OK. Humans: 7.5 billion and growing exponentially. Lions: 20,000 or LESS in the wild and dropping all the time. Because of US. You do realize that lions, for example, are on the verge of extinction and DO NOT need population control - in fact they need the very opposite..? Humans are breeding every one else out of existence. We breed incessantly, irresponsibly and without any regard whatsoever for the environment OR other species who have just as much right to live here as we do. Do you realize that there are over a billion people in Africa and maybe 4 billion by the end of the century? I think what is needed is some serious BIRTH CONTROL there, or there will be no wild animals left. Lions are set to become extinct by 2050 or earlier if things don't change, and elephants by 2025. You need to think about what you're saying. And you don't seem like much of a buddhist if you advocate this treatment of animals. I understand the human poverty and suffering in Africa, believe me. But we can't go ignoring the broader issue here. We are pushing EVERYONE else out and leaving them with NOTHING. They are entitled to be here JUST as much as we are. What I can't wrap my head around is WHY these poor Africans continue perpetuating the cycle of poverty by having so many bloody KIDS - what they need is education and BIRTH CONTROL. This is madness.
