  • Some folks have the luxury of doing permaculture in a rural setting, with ample space to dedicate to zones 4 and 5. But the majority of humans live in urban spaces, where access to nature can be limited.
What does it mean to practice permaculture in the city when it comes to Zones 4 and 5? How do we as humans in the city conserve, protect, and enjoy our urban ecology? What does "Earth Care" look like here? Let's take a look at the Columbia Slough Watershed here in Portland as an example.

once again your videos are very insightful and incredibly pleasant. Your efforts are such a boon to me personally in helping me keep my hope, especially when it feels like the political climate is rapidly devolving. the reminder that people are working to make things better is such an important and welcome one. Thank you so much!

Fair share? What does this mean to you? To the rich it means "keep as much as I can" and let the little guy pay the most percentage wise!

I've never thought of the word slough as having a negative connotation. I've just always thought it was another backwater place to be explored. Good on you for helping to clean up. Unfortunately, with people around it's a never ending job.

Last week I was visiting Portland and was staying nearby Tanner’s Park, a public park with a reconstructed native riparian ecosystem. It’s just one city block, surrounded by huge buildings. Some of the park infrastructure is made from reclaimed historic materials. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. I’m sure there’s volunteer opportunities too (I saw someone weeding one morning)

Love that you and other people care enough to take time out of your lives to clean up these spaces. I wish there was more of this in the world ❤

Hi. I’m gonna try posting (again) and see if RUclips (or someone) deletes this comment.
I just read an article that I thought you’d like. In la times. I won’t send link in case that’s why my comment gets deleted.
It’s about a gal who has a business growing flowers in her neighbors yards. Most of them are elderly or disabled so it’s a win win. She grows flowers to sell and her neighbors enjoy beauty even if they can’t physically garden anymore.
Anyway it’s psalter farm flowers. Once again not linking in case that’s why my comment gets deleted.
Anyway hope this is of interest and thanks for your content plus letting me use this post to test how not to get deleted. Thanks again.
Ps. This replaces earlier comment that RUclips deleted…I guess bc I had links???

I think YT often automatically deletes comments with links bc it think they are spam. I can’t find your original comment, so YT must have yanked it. Thanks for sharing, I will look them up!

If you want a really sad name for a wetland, compare it to the Great Dismal Swamp. :)

Unhoused and homeless. Unhoused are those who have lost their homes. Homeless are those who don't want to do anything and "expect" a handout.

What a cruel and ignorant comment.
