  • Sinti jazz violinist Schnuckenack Reinhardt at the 2001 International Gypsy Festival in Strasbourg, France. He opens with a short Gypsy piece and then launches into After Youve Gone.

    I don't believe he was a direct relative of Django but he was a Sinti violinist who played both traditional Gypsy music and swing, helping to popularize "Gypsy jazz" through the 60's and 70's, especially in Germany. He died a few years ago.

      He was Django's cousin. There's a documentary (La ballade de Schnuckenack) and a Wikipedia article on him. He was the first Sinti musician I ever heard in the early 1970s on German tv when I was a child. Quite some influence on my musical taste till today. Thanks for sharing.
