As a Functional Medicine practitioner using his protocols I can speak to the effectiveness of his approach. I work with a group of about 50 other doctors and collectively we are seeing a success rate of over 90 percent. Success being defined by cognitive decline/dementia/early Alzheimer's patients arresting their decline and regaining cognitive function. These gains are measured objectively as well. To date there are thousands who have been helped by what Dr. Bredesen has discovered.

Mark Shane I am in the Pittsburgh Pa area. My father has been placed in a personal care home. He knows of his own cognitive decline and will tell you himself that he can’t reason things through or that his brain is shrinking. I keep reading about things like folate and CoQ 10 and huperzine A and NAC ALCAR, Ginko, PS Alpha Lipoic Acid etc. oh yes......Fisetin. Are these things helpful and why doesn’t anyone know of these things ? They just want to put him away because my mother can’t care for him. It is 24/7. Cleveland clinic is close and has the first functional medicine facility from Mark Hyman. What to do?

Alzheimer's is a short circuit of the nerves due to the myelin sheath depleting over time. Rebuild myelin with 'good' cholesterol. Plant based or animal. Hemp oil. Seeds. Some nuts. Oils cold-pressed (NEVER HEATED / NEVER FRIED). Alzheimer's is also partly a Selinium and vitamine E deficiency. You can rebuild mylin like you can rebuild cartillage ..so long as blood can still flow to the area..

Great video and presentation. For me as a patient with ME/CFS it's a reminder that what's good for the brain is also good for the body, and vice versa. Way too much money and time is spent in medicine on Allopathic cures. Many of the complex auto immune disorders can be properly addressed within the confines of a medical paradigm similar to this. It's never just "one thing". Unfortunately so many resources are going down the amyloid rabbit hole. Thank you Dr Bredesen for your work and sharing of this information.

@@stevehutch in another podcast with Dr. David Perlmutter he discusses reversing ALZ/stopping the acceleration of ALZ. I’m a child of an ALZ parent who was also a carer. It’s not a simple fix but improving health & gut microbiohome is a start. It’s more info than I had 10-15 yrs ago.

I share your frustration. There is nothing concrete that he ever says that you can definitively process as an actionable treatment to reverse dementia and I’ve listened to him drone on for hours in videos.
Everything he suggests is common sense and largely ineffective. Exercise, reduced carb intake, Keto diet, plenty of sleep, Lion’s Mane, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Coconut Oil, MCT, Infrared light, etc.
My mom does it all and none of it has worked.

If there was a way to help improve a dementia patients condition would you try it? Please take an eyebrow tweezers and remove the hair and/or hair follicles from the hands and feet. The treatment is easy and the results will be immediate. This also works on Alzheimer's.

Maybe I'm cynical, but if this approach really worked, I feel like we'd be seeing major publications in medical or public health journals -- trumpeting this guys successes. Please prove me wrong, but this looks like a way for a guy to make money rather than a proven scientific cure for a tragic disease.

There isn’t much money to be made from a diet and supplements though. There is no money in cures. And I’m not saying this is the cure, but it seems to be a lot more effective than the drugs out there used to “treat it.”

He has published papers on it. Now it's my turn to be cynical: there is not much money in treating people with lifestyle changes and a bunch of supplements that cannot be patented. There is, however, a lot of money in coming up with single-pill "cures" that are supposed to fix years of neglect, lack of physical activity and a diet littered with junk foods.
By the way, I wonder if the use of many drugs doesn't do more harm than good because it absolves people from making real changes to fix the first cause of their disease. For example, someone taking a ton of meds for heart disease, but not dealing with his obesity. Yes, he knows he should, but because he takes his meds, he sees it as optional. In reality, it should be the other way around: first a diet, then meds as an option. I seriously think that we would see better outcomes if lifestyle changes were REQUIRED for meds to be prescribed. No weight loss, no meds. I'm aware of the ethical issues it creates and I'm not sure if I would support it, but it's good to think about, even if only as a thought experiment.

Keith Beyerle, Read his book ‘The end of Alzheimer’s’ which explains everything very clearly if you want to follow it on your own. There are many other very informative (albeit with much more technical jargon) interviews of him on RUclips. This theory makes so much sense as currently there is no hope whatsoever for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Watched my father go through it and now my mother starting to as well. So I was extremely interested in his theory and read his book, now I hope that I may be able to keep myself from getting Alzheimer’s one day.
