Caffeinated drinks is just so cheap to produced, once you get the marketing right, it's just insane profitability. Almost as cheap as water but you can sell it at a very high price.
Not to speak of actual addiction
Sugarrrrrrre
Yes😊
Its all about marketing. Like ice tea, and lemonade.
It could also be luck if you do what jay z has done in rap which is stay relevant without being number 1, at any given year then in time you have less enemies and are able to conquer more for less
I like how you just said "he went to his family and raised $6M" so casually....
Yeah wtf
Becoming a millionaire is easy just raise 6m from your closest friends and family
Must be easy to become a billionaire if you can causally ask your friends and family for $6,000,000 in the 80s 😂
Not even close to easy.
Sachs. He's Tribe. You'll find them wherever there is profit by peddling poison. (See: Alcohol, See: Pharma, See: Opium Wars)
The Tribe is sitting on centuries of stolen wealth --- that's how they control the world.
@finnmcginn9931 well you could have just put into monster stock that would have been easy lol
There’s an exponential differential in probability.
Dude.. i could watch these business stories all day, there is unbelievable lessons and high stakes drama that is untold and needs to be!
Aka, they give you hope?

I work as an account manager for Red Bull
The mark up of these products is insane
Marketing is our biggest expense and the amount of units will sell is wild
We were close to selling a billion cans in the UK alone last year
If we assume each of them had a mark up price of let's say around 40-60p it really adds up!
1.5-2.5 a can in greece.
Beautiful
Wish me and my friends could just casually raise 6 million to start/buy a business.
Have you even tried?
You’re probably what people like this call a pheasant
Lol "6 million". Funny considering that Monster's logo is "666" in hebrew. The owner is Jwish.
You do know that if you have an actual business plan from head to toe you can raise money for whatever… the problem is People don’t even do the plan but prefer complaining.
If you get rejected your plan is trash, make a new one.

Discoveing your channel is the best thing that happened today. And it all began as a search about the rise and fall of the YEN. Now, I'll be tuning in on your podcast. And as a Celsius shareholder, I would hope for even a modicom of the long term success Monster has enjoyed.
Great productions! Cheers.
That's an hell of a video mate! Keep up the good work ,fell in love with your work just watching this. Cheers John!
The legal background of the founder finally makes sense why they're suing the heck out of everyone for any mentioning of "monster" in their products, stories, titles, or anything else in that realm. They want to own that word completely.
The algorithm must not like this guy as much as I do. How do such good videos get so little views? Great work keep it up I'm rooting for the success of you and this channel :)
“Just a guy who practiced corporate tax law arguably one of the most uncool areas for someone to work in” as a CPA that one hurt a little bit lol 😂
Just found your channel. This deep dive was freaking awesome
Man, F**** great videos tbh. It's interesting all the way. Keep up the good work. Loved this episode and will follow for more content. Hope rest is just as good!
The quality of this video is insane, I whouldnt be suprised if it hits a million views soon.
Keep pumping more John ❤
As a ugandan i always wanted to drink monster when i was young...found it years later in a supermarket when i was older and immediately bought it even if it was 5x the price of soda 😂 fell for their "cool" marketing
i drink them or other like ghosts, c4 and reign on an almost daily basis I love Energy drinks
Mine is mountain dew. I'm 28 now and I' not sure I have tasted it yet. I have to go find it.
I'd love to watch a video from you explaining the life cycle of a startup! ❤️
For some reason a can of redbull costs more than monster, tastes worse and has only half as much in it.
How is redbull not going bankrupt?
Becuse REDbull is sellling veeeery GOD
jägerbomb and vodka redbull
That's good. Do more series about this type of businesses
Great story telling, John!
Thank you for the break down. this was inspirational!!!
Man you are killing it in last few videos🎉
Idk who you are but this is a well produced video. Great job.
Super solid work John, just smashed the subscribe button ✊
Im enjoying your content mate. Very good.
Brilliant Documentation.
I like how you gave cultural references to set the time. Indiana jones, Super Bowl, Berlin Wall. I like that.
as a european man... ive never heard of celsius.... never seen it in stores... never seen it online in any video EVER... didnt know it existed, where BANG is something that ive seen since like 2015 from the old ''FaZe'' Videos... back when they were still alright.
Confused on a side-tangent: Are the Tango orange drinks not in the USA if Monster was able to make a drink of the same name?
I was thinking they might have taken a licence agreement and then just cancelled it.
Its amazing how much details you were able get about the founder considering he doesn't keep a high profile
very interesting competitor analysis. More!
Cool video. Looking forward to checking out more of yours
Hey I've Been Watching Your Channel For A Long Time Though Not Regularly I Still Watch It ❤️ Can You Make A Video On How To Run An RUclips Channel And Do Case Study Of Famous RUclips Channels??
Another fantastic story told.
Hey John, nice shirt! 😎Sol Reader?
one of the best marketing campaigns in world history
"all roads lead to a coke distributor" mmm really. thanks for the infoo!
One of the best channel in RUclips
you uploaded a new video just in the span of 4 days a new record
Rodney went to his friends and family and raise 6 million.... WHAT lol to have friends and family like that
I like the Seth godin quote snuck in about Nike and Hyatt
Thanks for this - never heard of this guy but have seen the product out in South Africa - never thought much of it as I am more of a red bull type of guy. But as a business person, I respect them. And on top of that other south Africans are also coming like Mofaya from a South African called SBU - which is also borrowing lessons from Monstor.
Thanks to this video I now fully understand what branding is in plain English
20:26 They filed for chapter 11 'bangkruptcy'
I'm watching this while working at a Monster manufacturer, kinda cool
The best I can get from my family if I ever asked for money is “stay in college “
Monster sued Celcius, took thier money, then bought them. Genius. I'm taking notes.
What did they sue dhem for?
Monster said Celcius was fond of false advertising@@markushoffsten
Great job brother, had no idea of the history....
So this man is praised for how much money he and other caffeine drinks makers and not the harm they cause to young people. 🤔
Hansen's stock was dirt cheap in 2003, I had never heard of Monster at that point; sadly it quadrupled and I thought I missed the move lol. Went up 100x or so from when I saw it.
"I started with Nothing. NOTHING! When I started this company I only had this pen, a dream and 6 million dollars"

I am excited 😊 my life has totally changed. I have been benefiting $10,250 from my $4,000 investment every 14days
I heard a lot of investing with Mr Ricky wen and how good he is, please how safe are the profit?
After watching so many RUclips tutorial videos on trading, I was still making losses until Mr. Ricky wen started managing my investment. Now I make $6,800 weekly. God bless Mr. Ricky wen as he has a blessing to my family.
I've seen a lot of recommendation about Mr Ricky wen, Please can I have his info? I want to invest 2,000usd with him.
His on te legram
im surprised rockstar is still on the shelf, next to redbull and monster, and bang
I love your videos but why are the views on these previous ones including this one so low? You used to get 100-300 thousand, what did RUclips’s algorithm do to you?
My only two migraine headaches were from Monster drinks
hansens...... i havnt heard of that name in awhile!!
Monster had the BFC- the Big F%&*ing Can... Because Murica!

i bought bunch of monster share during 2003 im now millionaire and retiring off of it. have some left but still holding. i think next celsius will be the big thing
Lol...more look at the trajectory and leadership and market fatigue if you think it will be the next thing. It's what creates the next billion stocks...not sitting on your laurels...but I wish you the best
great video man! start making more vids like this. dont get me wrong, i love all your science and tech videos, but i believe if you make more videos like this, your channel will grow massively. most people arent interested in tech, politics, or science, which is what most of your videos are on
Yeah I agree with this! No offence Ben, but in some of the tech company showcases you've done in the past you are a bit too hyped about the military industrial complex. Call me old fashioned but sometimes I like to just see some simple business success story without all the military/political agenda.
That's amazing I never thought an elderly person could profit off of anything
Why ounce every says stocked that rose a lot and summ it up quickly using apply and Amazon, bit never domino's.
this is awesome
Funny thing 😂 I'm actually badly allergic to monster.
Me watching this while Drinking a Monster Drink
Wow that was really interesting. BTW what is your view on Shark/Ninja?

Holy shit Monster is the top? I've never literally had a drop, but damn I wish I was an eqrly investor.
I'm drinking a can of monster right now
Shoutout South Africa
Very interesting 😎
I wish they would come out with an energy drink that just tastes like Coke or Pepsi or sprite that would be nice. But I gotta say Reign is still reining champion as far as energy drinks go for me
Monster hunter with the dutch marines
We know where the logo stands for.... -so most likely he is not a random dude with random rich friends.
Soooo monster goes and sure Bang, bang then also gets sued by Pepsi co whom they were working with, and then in the end monster comes back and buys the company ? Dam business really is ruthless lmao
Its amazing that so many people will drink these poisons willingly
Wouldn't they be all dead if that were actually true?
@@msw7021 Does smoking gives you instant lung cancer? Coffee is scam. You might even say they are antidepressant like. It's just expensive caffeineited water with sugar. Dirt cheap. I don't care about the taste realy, only the price point. Pure caffeine does it for me.
Its the ginseng this time!
Dont forget they're making alc% Drinks now too
3:46 I so much had hoped that the same Marketing model would be applied by SA Energy Drink "Mofaya" market placing it as a Gin Mixer in night clubs....Then for the Streets after. But now everyone is drinking energy drinks in SA their main reason Pepsi and Coke are just too damn expensive for 500ML compared to Energy Drinks....But can't understand why Red Bull(ZAR30.00) and Monster(ZAR20.00) (Big Fan of their Cool Sporting Investments) is so expansive and SA brands average ZAR 10.00....Its been years and these questions keep bugging my mind everytime I engage In a Taurine Boost....And will Coke and Pepsi ever start buying some of these Brands....As they are taking up our generations Fizzy Drink Market. Our Parents Drink Pepsi and Cola not these generations
He went to see few mates and family relatives and they borrowed 6 mil...If I gather my whole family and half of the country I would able to rise 100 K
He's going to give back what he stole too.
Why did bang have to pay Monster and Pepsi and not, somehow, the consumer?…
Well well well. Sachs huh?
Making billions from an energy drink, wow!
Rodney raised $6,000,000.00 from friends and family in 1987 …. Wow that’s so easy 🙄
Can you please look into the Rand manipulation which was done by banks
Celsius
I would like to thank you for this great video as my uncle had been disabled for 20 years and he suddenly walked after watching your video. He walked over disconnect the wifi and smash the router.
Truly a monster
Nah this is a dope video with great info. Idk but recently Monster has been the only energy drink I can consume. The others no longer taste good and I happen to drink it daily for the past 2 years, thankfully I've stopped now. But still, it tastes better than the rest, luckily I usually crave large amounts of water after drinking such levels of sugar content.
bro try ghost, reign or even c4. I love monster but other brands also have good flavours
@@user-pg1ns1tf3o thanks fam, will try them out, not even sure we have them in South Africa. Its a crazy market ever since the success of Redbull and Monster, everyone wants a cut, way too many brands here with great flavours too. Just that I outgrew them, but would still love to find some others more tolerable.
Switch to the zero sugar varieties of Monster, imho they taste even better than the sugar ones. I actually attribute their succes to how good their zero sugar varieties are.
@@KubeSquared thanks, will check them out. Only had the white one so far and I don't remember quite well why I didn't stick to it. But it wasn't bad that's for sure.
FDA dropped the ball. These trash products shouldnt exist.
He is smart
So energy drink industry has basically similar profit margins as the classic drug business.
I believe it. I spend around $400 a month on monsters consistently the last 10 years
@@thatdetailguywaltsanders2451 did you buy a pack every day or something😭
As someone who likes energy drinks, Monster is something I do drink but I also know it's not healthy, so I drink it only on weekends (especially since caffeine works better if you don't consume it every day)...still, anything can be harmful in too great a dose! You can die of water poisoning (!) - yes, only water, in huge quantities, no extra ingredients needed! If you consume 6 liters (for a 70 KG - yes kilogram, we don't use stupid measurements here in Europe anymore! - adult man) in a very short time, you can die!
I think you mean he's proving low cost American Healthcare.
I stay away from caffeinated drinks. Period.
Caffeine is addictive, effects diminish with time, and this race to put in more and more caffeine in drinks isn't healthy imo
In India monster was relaunched in 2018 and they tied up with CocaCola India and used their distribution network.
When you make your logo the mark of the beast in Hebrew 666. Of course it will sell
