Raced a nitrous sprayed hemi for years (1800 hp) and switched to 7.14 aluminum rods after the 1st season. Never had a problem with the aluminum ones. Glad everyone is in one piece.
You guys made it there and showed off that beautiful Canadian CUDA. It's a shame what happened, but you'll be back ! Thanks for representing Canada guys.
Running steel rods in a boat is a whole different animal compared to the shock load on the motor when you let go of the button and have to spin those giant back tires and get all that weight up and moving. The driver walked away unhurt which is great, check book not feeling too good.❤
So glad that beautiful Canadian Cuda can be repaired. I believe all the high horsepower drag ad drive cars run aluminum rods successfully. Thanks for the update. Please keep us informed as to the progress on this .
Thanks for taking us on your journey. So Sorry about your beautiful car that definitely could’ve been worse. Glad you’ll be able to fix it. Can’t wait to see you at the next one. We sure missed seeing the goat but totally cool that you rolled with your buddy.
I remember a Top Fuel guy asking the question, do you want to hit your crank shaft with an aluminum hammer or a steel hammer? Well you are making the right decision to go to aluminum rods. Good luck, I hope to see more updates and hope to see you back next year.
Sucks about the rod failing. Guess a learning experience as well. But really sucks! Have a safe trip home guys. Been snowing here at work in Fort Mac for 2 days now. -35 to -37 temps. Be good to see the car back together
It’s sad to see something that someone put so much time and effort into crash but in the end as long as you are safe….its just a car ! Have a safe trip home !!
Richard I'm about half deaf so you got to get a good mic for next truck interview, all I could hear was the rumbling of the pickup lol. I'll have to watch again and turn TV up way high because I want to hear what your buddy said.
Sucks that all this happened. I’ m intrigued by the engine combo. Is it Chrysler deck height, bore spacing etc… Can’t wait to see it all come back together and what it can do. #builditback
@@fredg6607 5” bore space, deck hight is taller, bellhousing has Chrysler and Chevy bolt pattern. Heads are loosely based on Hemi 99. 4.72 bore 4.75 stroke 652 cubes
That’s too bad, is that ECU set up for oil and water pressure safeties? I would send the rods to your own metallurgy testing to get the results. Jeff Lutz had a problem with his rods also, maybe detonation?
Yes oil pressure safety. Bearing didn’t show signs of detonation, looks like a rod failure and we are going to send the rods for analysis…. Might just be too much for this beefy steel rod
HI ALL DAM this sux how about making a hoodie or shirt so ppl can help ya get it back and follow the car ? Have a chat to old man Bill he could give you some advice on it thx
People have made 4000hp with Oliver rods for lots of hits! 3000hp on the same rods 500 runs! Lots of tire shake when they didn’t know what they were doing!
Thank you for giving us an update and diagnosis of what happened. Glad to hear it's looking repairable!
Thanks for the update Richard. The engine didn't look horrible, it's quite the piece of engineering. Stay warm.✌🏻
I love how there is no drama and no whining. Sad that it ended the way it did, but so much respect for the way you handled it.
No one was hurt that's all that matters
Love following along. Way to rep Alberta. Travel safe
That was such a gorgeous car and it hurt me to see it damaged like that, and I hope to see it resurrected and in a drag n drive again.
Thank you for letting us know this stuff.

I’m sorry your sick week experience sucked, such a long way to go to be disappointed….. Back better and stronger next year!!!

@@dougmclean8328 I lived there for 8’years as well…. Won’t need the shorts for a while I guess!
@Canadianchucknorris69 haha.. true! I just work up here, live by Red Deer. Be safe
I thought the Cuda was going to be a contender for sure.

This whole issue hurt my heart, this is such a nice car. I hope you guys can get it back together for a future race!
Go with GRP the MGP rods are having some breaking problems lately.

Should have taken the GTO…..seems like it’s way more reliable…..🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Well if hour lucky, everything went out through the pan.
Easy fix on body. I’ve put hundreds of quarters on. I own 7 cudas. Sad to see this get hurt
Put a cylinder out and fill it up with fuel....???

Definitely sucks but could have been SOOOO much worse.
Steal Rods? LOL
Last making 3000~ HP in a boat application for hours on end, if you mean Steel rods....
