- Hey everyone, this is a longer video of Spellbound-Lutea hybrid tree peony in my garden this Spring for your guys to have a look closer this variety. Spellbound is a magnificent unique tree peony which I had a chance to plant it in my garden. It is vigorous and growing pretty fast. The flowers are very eye-catching and always spellbind anyone from the first sign. Hope you guys enjoy it! Thanks for your watching! Cheers!
Thanks, actually it depends on the roots you bought, if you buy the own root from well known vendors by the second and third year you already see some dramatic growing on those trees, but if you buy one-year old grafted roots from big box stores ( which is popular in North American market aka Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe…or in some nurseries), those roots were imported from China or Japan with just colour tags with no names, and will take longer time to establish and to be mature (maybe 3-5 years to see some growing)
Beautiful Peonies in your garden ❤ Could you tell me what is the pale pink one next to to the Spellbound please? I would like to get it for my garden 😁 Thank you 🙏
@@andriewhisson5717 In case it is not available, there are couple options for you as pale pink tree peonies, you can’t go wrong with these: Seidai, Hanakisoi, Shimano Fuji, Yatchio Tsubaki…
For peonies I don’t use much fertilizer, normally I just fertilize once or twice per year, first one in early Spring with fertilizer such as 4-6-8, or 6-12-12, 7-14-14…or bulb fertilizer, second is fall when I cut down herbaceous, Itoh peonies and defoliate tree peonies, this time I will use the bone meal, sometimes I skip fall fertilizer, if I see they grew well with a lot of stems/branches, very big/fine foliage in the last season.
@@trishslater5443 as long as you are above zone 4b, then I think it’s all good for tree peonies, and if you are planting in the ground then I don’t think there is any problem at all, I know someone even grows tree peonies in zone 3 and having some protection in the winter and they are successful as well (but definitely more work for sure)
@@svcruz Actually no, this tree peony is the rare one, I bought this one from New Zealand 3 years ago and shipped to Canada with very expensive cost (Unfortunately the grower of this one retired last year) so I don’t know if it is available somewhere in North America now or not. But if it is, I guess it would be very expensive!
@@smallbackyardfun thanks for the info, I did find a seller in the east coast of Canada but they are asking about $525 is that too expensive or about what you paid for
Wow, such an eye-catching one, thanks for sharing!
Stunning tree peony, your garden is looking beautiful!🌺🍃🌸
Thank you! It is really gorgeous now! I should upload the update of my garden soon!
