Felix said while standing on top of the world, "I know the whole world is watching now and I wish the world could see what I see. And Sometimes you have to go up really high to understand how small you are."
his jump was a science experiment to see if a human can withstand breaking the speed of sound and survive...so he really did push the human species forward in our understanding the limits of the human body...
"I'd love to give a special one finger salute to all those who said he was going to come apart when he went supersonic!" -Joe Kittinger That made my day. And I think Felix is absolutely amazing! Great job!
Well, there's no doubt that Felix really loves himself and quite frankly, why the fuck shouldn't he!! The guy is an exceptional human being; it should be no surprise to anyone that even impresses himself. Lol.
Congratulations to you Felix, you're done someone, you show that the human being can do great things, thank you to you for making us live such a moment, it is thanks to people like you that we appreciate the advantage this life again congratulations on your achievement, your parcour was already amazing but then you have arrived at the top of your art, the perfection, you're all for you, everything you touch, you into gold, another hats off for your achievement, respect from belgium
i hope i meet him one day...that picure would have a very special place in my home...he epitomizes the human race: fearless, unbelievable, humble, special...no wonder God created us like this....only a very few are capable of comparing themselves to Felix: i'm not one of them, but it makes me super happy to be living in the time of his time...you're unbelievable, Felix! well done!!!
when you applaud with other people as they applaud you its kind of thanking them (as if applauding back to them for their applause), or lowering yourself to their same level in a humble gesture of sorts. much like bowing down to the same height of another person who bows down to you etc...
Unbelievable!!!!! Man that wad BadAss!!!!!! I couldn't even imagine the feeling of stepping out of that capsule and seeing our Beautiful Planet like that!!!!!!!!!
lol "Please God don't let me die but if you are standing in His Son's arm nothing can go wrong."-Brother! that's the Gospel in one sentence-Well done sir!

Without any noice, the humble 57 year old office worker Alan Eustace jumped from a height of 41 km, 2 km higher than Mr. Baumgartner off, Chapeau! Austrians have been known for big words for decades ... Still respect!
Dry air @ 20 degrees C, the speed of sound is 343.2 metres per second (1,126 ft/s). This is 1,236 kilometres per hour (768 mph), or about one kilometer in three seconds or approximately one mile in five seconds....AKA pretty damn fast! Seriously, those of you who think this was just "another day at the office" give it shot! Waiting....
Felix did a few things that have never been done before by any human before him. It wasn't a "daredevil stunt", it was an extremely calculated and well rehearsed act. This event alone gave knowledge to the human people that never existed before. My question to you is why do you think the human species wasn't advanced in knowledge that day?
Just before he jumped he could have dedicated the jump to N Armstrong. Talk about one giant leap for mankind...That would have been very POIGNANT. However it was fun to watch.
Felix, you're my HERO! & Joe Kittinger! I watched all of the mission - it was amazing! Loved the salut before Felix jumped & the whole mission. Can't believe it's over - hope, though, that Felix'll - sooner or later - return! :) There're still things to jump from. xD PS. I watched it LIVE, but it stopped at the same point as here. But was the conference actually finished, or was it the 30 mins gone that they were talkng about at the start?
"we spend all this money and there is nothing to drink" redbull sponsor no redbull cans just water in a solo cup lol .......... no good communication between the ground and felix despite that Felix did it the must exiting part when he jumped I remember seen this life 5 years ago
Joe Kittinger is a friend of mine. I talked to Joe in Orlando, Florida after I made my first freefall jump in Umatilla, Florida at a place called Sky World. Joe is a retired Air Force Test Pilot and our topic of conversation was about Joes' preparation and planning to set the first freefall altitude record......
Let me get this straight...His free fall time is 4min20sec (found this @ 4:20 in this video); on top of that he explains, and I quote, "...which makes Felix the highest human to have flown a capsule" . So..not the only human to have flown a capsule that high...He's the highest human....and his free fall time is 4:20...and Joe Kittinger is so baked he's not even paying attention. Wtf. finally, who the fuck claps after their own speech...?
I know you wrote this a year ago, but I’m gonna answer your question. Who claps at their own speech? ANYONE who JUST broke the free falling record and broke MACH 1.24, you jealous little MORON!! 🙄🙄🙄🖕🏼
He's still uncomfortable lying on such a huge scale. (How's the hand that doubled in size inside a torn glove?) And paid trolls always resort to insults because they have no content.
from the official Red Bull video of Felix's jump, I timed his free fall at just 4:16? Alan Eustice claims a 4:27 free fall time...and we all Know...Joe still has the free fall record at 4:36!!!!
I think Felix has watched the right stuff to many time's! but that said, i bet he felt literally on top of the world! who was the fastest man u ever saw? your lookin at em!
Do a search for Alan Eustace. Many of the details from his jump (in October 2014) are more impressive than Felix's jump. Both men should be commended for incredible achievements. It seems Eustace's achievements remain largely unknown.
Here Hold my Red Bull I'm going to Jump from 23 miles above Earth and go Mach 1.24 Tumble than Parachute back, Felix has the Lifetime Double Platinum Diamond Man Card
Great job fails to express my excitement and aw when reflecting on this most important event, I saw a lot of it live too and was like omg this is significant
Felix's "joke" with the missing bottles of water - that's an absolutely german/austrian style of joking-so dry and dumb, that sometimes it's getting offensive! Me,personally, don't like it at all, but his record is so cool that i can forgive him the lack of nice & funny sence of humor!:)))
I think it must be an American thing because I INITIALLY thought the same thing. I agree with beepIL that he was just humbling himself. Either way, if ANYONE deserves to applaud themselves, then THAT day it was DEFINITELY him! :)
Wow most impressive , even I didn't know what he said happened, even the captain didn't know till now, even the base crew captain pilot film crew ,nobody knew what he'd say but they impressive, story time show...
and they went back to determined how fast he was actually going and he maxed out at 729!! sooo yeah no record there the number they gave in this video was due to faulty sensors and these results were published not to long ago .. so yeah the original record still stands
It's more about the speed than it is breaking the actual speed of sound in his immediate environment. A nice, if arbitrary measure for his velocity more than anything.
I do not understand this supersonic record. Felix achieved his highest speed very soon after his jump started, but my point is that at that altitude there is no sound (air is too thin) and sound only came into play when he hit the higher density lower air levels and at that point his speed decreased rapidly (because of the air resistance).
Your figures are at sea level. The speed of sound in general decrease with altitude (air density is a better description), because the amount of air molecules to transmit the sound decrease. This is why the speed of sound in water is roughly 3x faster than in air. Felix's jump was mighty impressive, but I just do not understand this claim of a sound record, not only by him, but for anybody.
Jeeeeeze ............... He does ALL that, with Red Bull sponsoring him, and there wasn't even a can of the stuff on the table for him?! And then he asked for water! They missed a trick there, that's for sure .... PS .. He is AMAZING! . Lovely guy - and simply GAWJUSS!
because of all the microphone feedback ahahah. damn reporters.. felix b. is badass! if i did that i would need to be alone for a few days to think about what i just experienced. how could you not think about that? damn. i could not answer questions after that.
So he jumped partially blind? All that money put into the jump and they couldn’t have something that didn’t fog up? I believe he went into that spin because of all the myriad forces of gravity coming all around him at once. Coming from one stratosphere to another.
When watching livejump i was shitting bricks for felix, his family and friends, really happy for them and the team that it was a success. Also as a thrillseeker how is felix going to possibly top this or is he going to hang his red bull wings up while on a high (lol pun intended).
joe kittenger is my kind of guy lol one finger salute FOR THE WIN! congrats felix. you slipped the surly bonds of earth, saw the face of god, and came back to tell us what its like.
Good achievement and great viewing but I think it has been over-emphasised how amazing and important this was. The marketing machine of red-bull made sure people thought this was like landing on the moon but it really didn't break any major ground scientifically imo
I can't believe he's alive. The spin was so violent.
There would have been another way to deal with it 2 at least would have been implemented I think remote activation and a device called an AAD ✌🏼
Felix said while standing on top of the world, "I know the whole world is watching now and I wish the world could see what I see. And Sometimes you have to go up really high to understand how small you are."
833 miles per hour free fall. Holy fuck. Mach 1.24. Congratulations to this superhuman
he is pure living legend ... well done
As much as I like the whole quote. The salute followed by "I'm coming home." is what did it for me.
Now they got to make a movie about this.
Felix is officially "outta this world!" ooooorah!
Being good looking to top it all off. Go on felix.
And today, he stands up for what’s what’s right and protects freedom, he is a true Hero in many ways 🤗 👍👍👍
his jump was a science experiment to see if a human can withstand breaking the speed of sound and survive...so he really did push the human species forward in our understanding the limits of the human body...
Truly amazing. He’s one physically fit dude! 👊🏻🤙🏻
Its fucking fake ffs 😣 wake the fuck up 🐑

Brian: And I’m gonna speak for that entire time.

That spin he was in was sooo dangerous… thank god he prepared for that because a normal person would of blacked out quickly from it!
Or maybe thank Joe Kittinger?
Congrats to Felix and the whole Red Bull team! Thanks for uploading this!.
FOR SOMEONE WHO'S JUST PULLED OFF AN AMAZING FEAT LIKE THIS HE DOESN'T LOOK TOO HAPPY, CONTENTED OR SATISFIED!!!???👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Its he german way. No emotion showing
i remember watching this live sh*tting myself... even watching it now makes my palms sweaty. Historic!

The feeling up there before he jumps must be fucking amazing. I bet he loved every part of the jump
except the part he was about to pass out b/c he was violently spinning before hitting the atmosphere lol
A little over 14 miles per minute!!
Thanks for uploading this, missed it the first time around.
Thats pretty damn fast over 800 mph freefall
300tank I would’ve definitely pass out

Congratulations from Belgrade, Serbia!
Kittinger's freefall was longer in time but not in distance !!!
Phil Mc You got it exactly backwards.
+Randall S no he's got it right.
He also did it in 1960, which makes it so much cooler than felix jump :D
Joe Kittinger is a friend of mine. I talked to Joe in Orlando, Florida after I made my first freefall jump in Umatilla, Florida at a place called Sky World. Joe is a retired Air Force Test Pilot and our topic of conversation was about Joes' preparation and planning to set the first freefall altitude record......
F-Mod I understand Kittinger quickly used a drogue chute to stabilise, so he took longer to fall a shorter distance.

He jumped from 39.04 km. That is the record by far. Idk why people are claiming that it isn't.
+Prescott Fulton that record was broken. record is now 41.4 km... simple google search

Totally Amazing 😲 👏 I couldn't even imagine doing that. Great accomplishment brother

It sucks he didn't get free fall time record, but what an amazing day! True history :) Good Job Felix, you're incredible.
He is amazing go felix x
you can even go back to 10:23 where the discussion starts with the spin and how he described that and elaborated on the suit.
I wonder how his ears felt during the high altitudes.
but nothing but respect here, bought the backpack and the jacket
