Ironically, in my circles, I hear absolutely NOTHING but praise for Tchaikovsky and Dvorak, which is even more ironic since these people who sing their praises can barely list more than one work by both of them. One work does not define a composer.
I dont think so. Dvorak is maybe underrated in the world but definitely not in Czechia. There is one of the most popular classical composer and his compositions are regularly performed. If Czech symphonic orchestra visit Japan thay must finish each concert with 2nd part of Dvorak's New world symphony..on the other hand i dont know how is Dvorak known in USA where he spent long time of his life...
@@606p606 Dvorak is relatively known here in USA. Of course, though, he is known for his twelfth string quartet and ninth symphony, not gems such as this and his tone poems and other string quartets.
I played the abridged version of this pc in my secondary sch concert band (1st Flute) for the Singapore Youth Festival (Central Judging of Sch Bands) waaaaayyy back then; can still play & sing it off the head till now! The impact of the amazing pc & talent of Dvorak are boundless!🎉❤❤❤
There are some many highlights in this magnificent set of Slavonic Dances, from the power and athletic energy of 1 and 8, to the heart felt warmth of 4. Thank you for posting the scores!
Dvořák is extremely underrated, especially by people who should know better. He deserves all the praise Tchaikovsky gets, and more.
He is not the only one who is unjustly forgotten. Check Noskowski's symphonic works and his piano quartet.

I blast this in my car like its the latest hit.
I went to Chick Fil A and the people next to me were blasting Kendrick Lamar, so I blasted this right back
I personally love the tempo used for the sixth dance. Makes the dance so much more uplifting!
I have to say I've been thinking about the same thing but I think I prefer the dance being more melancholic.
@@dzinypinydoroviny Yea i think I like it a bit sower as well
Thank you so much for this. I love Dvořák and especially the Slavonic Dances. Thank you for what you're doing.
