- In this video, we give this pair of Prada boots a makeover. A customer mailed these to us for a complete refurbishment of his boots, so that's what we did. With new German leather soles and heel pads, this pair of Prada boots ended up looking...new!

If they weren’t worth a $1000 before, they are now that you guys finished with them. Great job!
Thanks so much!
That comment would make a great 'tag-line'. You should work in advertising!
The fact there is a vid featuring them is part of the value.
Exactly what I wanted to write 👍
The job is superb, love the hidden stiching process and the flame thing.
I don’t fancy designer shoes, don’t like this particular chelsea but the sole is now exquisite.
Also remember working on blake involves a lot more skills and caution than on goodyear soles. 👌
The amount of detail that goes into these rebuilds is astounding. You guys are artists.
As nice as those boots are there is no way they are worth $1000 dollars to buy ..! 😂 but I’m sure you guys will do a fabulous job on them 😊
No shoes are worth that.
You pay for the name.
I really enjoy watching these highly skilled artisans at work. It's very therapeutic, sure beats talking to my counsellor!
That’s awesome! We really appreciate you watching.
You guys rock. Love your honest, and practical opinions.
Thanks to you guys and the amazing job you do I just ordered my first bespoke pair of boots. The maker was astonished by the details I gave him for the soles.😂 Keep up the good work and have a great new year. Greetings from Greece!
1 minute into the video and these already look like typical designer shoes/boots. High price and suspect shoe making. Great videos as always!
As always a great job and very satisfying to see. The candid advice about brand vs quality was gold. Many thanks for the video.
This is hiw to make good looking boots 'great, must have'.
It’s a ART, THANK YOU !!! ❤
I love how y’all put on soles by making sure the toe and heel are in the right spot first, then pressing down. Because y’all pointed out it keeps the shape of the boot this way, I’ve started to notice the toe curl that happens when cobblers roll the sole on from heel to toe instead. Glad for the education on shoe repair, sad that I’m now so much pickier about who I’ll take my shoes to!
These came out great anyway. They do not feel like $1000 boots to me but the repair work you did to them definitely does. Thanks for sharing.
Man you made the soles look so pretty I would only ever wear them on carpeted surfaces. Great job as always guys.
Love your videos. My BP goes down 20 points when watching you guys work. Very relaxing and enjoyable for me.
Thanks so much! Glad we’re able to help. 😉👍
Really missed y’all merry Christmas & have a happy new year.
As always, great video lads💪
For the shoes to last a lot longer after restoration, use a Vibram half sole and Vibram heel block to protect the Leather sole. Without protection is just going to wear out easily no matter how durable it is branded to be. I have Vibram soled dress and casual shoes and they are beyond durable and the traction on all surfaces is outstanding.
Great video, happy new years and a prosperous 2024.
G’day good to see you again I hope that you have had a good Christmas. I’ve been following for a long time now and you always do a beautiful job on restoring some really shocking looking boots and shoes, I hope that you have a great New New year and I’m looking forward to watching you in 2024. Take care kind regards John
Very nice! My complements! Happy New Year!🎉🎉🎉
Really high quality work, guys 🏆!
Always the best. Just got my brogue boots back from Trenton & Heath…these guys are money! I’ll be sending a few more pairs in soon.
Love watching these videos here in the uk,and america, find these videos mind simmering
Beatiful work of restoration...You are the bests
I could watch y’all cobble all day. It makes me want to wear down some boots and send them in 😆
Great Video! They came out Better then New!
BTW, I often visited your shop under previous ownership on Church Street in Brentwood. Have since moved to TX but get a kick thinking about how you fellows have expanded and kept it going. Nice work!!
That’s awesome! Yep, we’ve grown a bit since our early days on Church St. We appreciate you watching!
Who would have thought that I'd turn out to be a cobbler groupie? But here we are. These guys are AMAZING!!
You guys are awesome! Great Job !
Good job guys. Those pair are now more than a thousand dollars after you repaired it👌👌👌👌
Good job. Happy New Year.
Thanks! Happy New Year.
Thank you for another awesome video! Happy 2024!
Ok, since no one is brave enough to mention it, both of the brothers have new and different haircuts. They are a keeper! And yes, the shoes are worth it. If you want to spend it, go for it! Good job.
Thanks for the info... I thought that about the Pradas I've seen.
Agreed, £300 would be a reasonable price for a blake stitched boot which can only be re-soled a couple of times. The rest is the fashion name premium.
Great video. Love to watch them.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate you watching.
These boots may not have been worth $1000+, but it seems that they were a quality boot at least! Fantastic work! 👍🙂
Nice looking boot/shoes
Another one! It’s a quality shoe now!
good job guys
Great video and great job guys! I would never pay that much for these!!!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
Awesome ! 😊
I have bought Thursday boots and am fully satisfied. The Black Captains are a very hearty boot. The Tobacco colored captains I have a super sharp and I love them. I bought some Dunham's chukka's and they are a little big in my regular size, but I wear them in winter with thicker socks. I have another pair that I have had for 7 years now, they are another brand, but have held up well after a resole (sorry, I am getting off a 13 hour shift......LOL). I won't ever pay 1400 bucks for pair of boots when there are great American brands and Thursdays (Mexico) that really stand up well and if you buy two pair at a time and break them in slowly, you really get a lot of quality and value.
I have very similar black Italian Chelsea boots. I bought in London at the UK’s famous shoe shop “Russell and Bromley”. I purchased around 2008 for £200 GBP which at that time was expensive, they are so comfortable and have been re healed I guess 4,5 times and then added a very very thin rubber sole put on over the original leather sole. They still look good after 15 years, polish regularly with good leather polish. If you buy quality shoes or boots from a quality shoe shop or provider, look after the shoes or boots. They literally will last forever. UK’s shop “Russell and Bromley” prides itself in providing quality shoes, not cheap, but you get what you pay for 😊😊. I watch your videos regularly….how many times have you sliced your fingers as I have to hold my breath when I watch you using the sharp blades 😂😂😂😂
$300 dollars for the boot, $1000k because it says Prada on them.
Good job 👍
Enjoyed the video
Great job gentlemen on the resole work. Different style and cost. I say if you can afford it and like the shoe go for it. Everyone is different. Have a great weekend gents. Have a Happy New Year. Thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks! We completely agree. Happy New Year to you as well.
Sure, but unless someone looks at the bottom of the soles they'd never know these were Prada shoes.
I love that you guys just tell it like it is. The longer I watch you guys the more I realize these designer brand shoes are pretty much a scam. lol great work as always.
Happy New Year.
Thanks! Happy New Year to you as well.
Is that crazy I have those same boots in my closet that I’ve worn maybe 20 times and there in brand new condition.. WOW
С наступающим Новым годом Вас и Ваших близких.ВЫ-мастера экстракласса ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
In my opinion, without attaching social or emotional value to a brand name, no luxury brand is worth what you pay for it.
It’s pretty much all tat. Expensive tat. Mass produced tat with a fancy label.
Love your guys work and someday I have you do work for me.
Beautiful re-work guys, R M Williams for that style boot - All the quality 1/2 the price.....IMHO
Y’all made those look better than new, love the videos guys I can’t wait to go visit you guys again. Btw I’ll probably be sending you my red wings to get a lug sole put on, any recommendations you have to make it better or easier in the process? I remember you mentioned it would be easier to get a new welt put on so whatever you guys think please let me know. Thanks!
Sounds good! Stop by any time.
I found these boots in a thrift store for $30 a couple of years ago . They were in great condition but they had major creases above the toe box .
Hell no! $1k for a pair of sure is insane. There are really good products in the world, and still not worth that much money.
One of my co-workers recently said that if money were no object to him, he'd buy a $3000 toilet. He then asked me what I'd do if I were in a similar situation; I said I'd never really given that question much if any thought. After seeing this, though...well, maybe. But I couldn't really see paying that much for a pair of boots/shoes unless they were custom-made. Still, I don't tell other people how to spend their own money...
Happy New Year, guys. Keep the vids coming.
Very nice! I've discovered you guys about a month ago. Been watching some of you older videos. And have enjoyed them. Have you ever done and Bass Wafers? I'd like to see what you think of them.
Waiting for you guys to glue on a set of Vibrum soles. 😂😂😂
Very cool video. Wonder if they have a video on how to repair a leather boot that has a slice that’s still hanging on
No way they're worth that much out the box, just buying the name for 80% of that cost. Excellent improvement/ restoration gents!!!
that’s exactly why i personally wouldn’t buy a pair of shoes like that, because you’re buying the name
@@JohnH20111 With "designer" / "high fashion" brands, yeah I agree.
Really wish you guys would show when you die the soles on your videos. They always look so good, wish you would share that part of the process. Great content!!
Just got a pair of AR8s from Jim Green. Really nice boot for only $209.
Good morning. Shoes like new. Beautiful job. Happy New Year. Greetings from Poland from the city of Radomsko
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching. We love to hear from our international viewers! Happy New Year!
I really, really enjoyed this one. Although these boots are pretty nice, I think my Thursdays are almost comparable quality.....at $300.
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you watching.
Prada now own Church’s Shoes, which are still manufactured in Northampton. I don’t think these boots were made by Church’s though since I noticed a “Made in Italy” stamp on the original soles. I tend to think Church’s are overpriced too, when compared to other venerable Northampton products.
Great video and I agree with you both not worth the price. But as with most designer items you often pay for the name rather than the quality. You too are truly amazing at your craft. Always enjoy your videos.
Glad you enjoyed it. We appreciate you watching!
Are they worth the original price? They are to some and worth the price of resoling even - to some!!! : ) A personal choice and I fine with that! To this guy? NOT! But that's me. What I can appreciate is what you guys show and explain, makes a big difference to those of us "who's always wondered and why". Fellas, you are Awesome! '23 not too bad but all the bestest in 2024!!!! Be Safe
I wouldn’t swap those Chelsea boots for my RM Williams Chelsea boots at less than half the price. I think Prada own Churches shoe company now, churches are really good quality. Nice work on those boots and great video
HAMMER TIME!!! Gotta say that as a nod to Steve right????
With big design houses, it's difficult to judge product pricing by specifications alone. There's a lot to consider. Logistics, material sourcing, manufacturing, design, corporate management, and the man hours that went into every step along the way. In addition there's taxes, import costs, and marketing, and this isn't even a comprehensive list. To make that all come together (and yes of course, massive corporate salaries) it takes a lot of money to produce. To meet a healthy profit margin, it's gotta sell for a good penny, plus, you're paying a premium for exclusivity.
Thank you for video. Can you please make some videos with work boots .
Happy new year
We have dozens of work boots videos. Hope you’ll check them out.
$1000, I couldn't and wouldn't spend that on them. For me it's 3 things, do I like the style, durability and finally are they comfortable to wear.
1300$ Just For The Marketing Brand.130$ Is The Real Price.
10:13 cool 🔥
I can tell one thing for this thin style soil on any foot waere in Europe or anywhere there are cobblestone walkways your first purchase will be some good tennis shoes or something along that line the thin soils suck to say the least. Happy trails
Many years ago, I bought a kind of similar design pair by Timberland. But with thicker soles which last to this day. The only issue is the elastic piece on the sides that seems to be less elastic and has spread a little bit. Can this be replaced?
Wish you a very happy new year guys!
Great work and beautiful boots. The ankle openings seem to be very wide. Are the elastic sides stretched out (doesn’t look like it), was that a stylistic choice by Prada, or did I just see it wrong? Thanks!
To me any boot that can be resoled at a fraction of the price, are timeless and can be worn for a generation ... is worth that kind of money.
U can do that with some 250$ thorogoods. 1k is ludicrous idc what they are made of.
Recraft/resole is the key to longterm value, for sure. Personally, I think a quality boot with a lower initial cost, made by people who primarily make footwear, is a better option for maximizing value.
To paraphrase P.T. Barnum,"There's one born every minute."
Not sure how I wound up here. It was interesting and you guys did a great job. In my world, there are no such thing as a 1000$ pair of boots, especially a pair with so little utility. They are very pretty.
For me, no pair of Prada boots would be worth $1,000. I wouldn't likely buy a pair of Prada boots for $200. I would be afraid one of my buddies would ask me who made them... My wife would remind everyone that I do have a couple of Vibergs at $800 a pop, though, so I guess $1,000 is not completely out of the picture -- for the right pair. What Heath said was right, I think. Prada (I would assume) makes very nice articles of clothing or whatever -- but I wouldn't turn to them for boots. Prada has a "name" and they are able to capitalize on it. Excellent job on the resole! Have a great 2024.
Well said. Have a great new year as well!
Would adding a midsole that's Blake stitched to the upper then outsole stitched to the actual leather sole be possible, and a way to be more resoleable?
I was going to be a little more charitable and say they were with $600, only because there seemed to be a fair amount of attention to the details of producing a clean boot. But I wasn't able to tell that the leather in the uppers was low quality, and that makes all the difference between being with $600 vs $200-$300.
hey man, behind you on the shelf at 5:36, are you redoing those vintage blue flip flops?
Where is Forrest? The public demands to see Forrest.
♥️ Question: Why did you flame the Fiebing’s dye? Does that get rid of the weird metallic cast? Great video! You two have inspired me to tackle little projects on my own.
You got it. Helps it to dry quicker and takes away that metallic look that can be left on there.
@@TrentonHeath Thank you! I used that dye on several pairs of suede Aquatalia boots and loafers and didn’t have that issue. I used the same dye on my sister’s police duty boots… and made her look a little like a disco cop. 🕺 👮🏽 😂
When are you guys going to show off some of the Nicks Boots that you guys collaborated on? I missed the opportunity to purchase one, but I would still like to see how they broke in . . .
As far as designer boots go, I feel these were worth the investment compared to other designer boot brands. With the leather heal and steel shank, I have seen other designer brands costing as much without the attention to detail. Having said that, I would never spend that much on boots. I like my Thursday Vanguards and my Red Wing Moc Toes much more, for the money. Great restoration though!
Another great video. What is the purpose of lighting the sole after it was dyed on fire?
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed. It helps it to dry a little quicker to takes away that metallic glaze look that sometimes comes with the dyes.
I think I prefer my R.M.Williams boots from Australia any day
It would be interesting to see what they think of RM Williams.
Out of all that I think the only part I have the skills to actually do would be the application of the leather dye lol
You did a great job on them! However I had already decided at the beginning of the video that they weren't worth $1000, but I was curious to see what you would say. In my book, no shoe is worth $1000 unless it is gold plated! I don't care who the designer is or how prestigious having his name on your shoe is. His name is not worth $1000 either. Still if someone has money to burn and wants to waste it, have at it! I'm happy to see you lived up to my faith in your integrity.
Thanks so much!
These Chelsea’s are a timeless, classic investment piece that will last a lifetime with re-soles, worth the money for the investor.
Is there a reason you go for the alcohol based dye for the sole over an oil based dye?
You guys always doing great work!! I would definitely not pay 1K for those. Better to buy a brand like Carmina is your looking to make that investment.
Is your shoe repair business, multi generational(parents r grandparents in the business)are did you guys start this on your own? I enjoy your vids, do some leather work making shooting bags, your vids are blog. confidence in me to try and tackle the job of resolling my old Wolverines with new vibram lug soles, many other projects to complete first thank you guys
What does lighting the dye achieve?
Please can you tell me how the sewing machine sews into the soles. Can’t get my head around it. 😊
