    Thank you all for watching! I want to know what your opinion is on the Beach Subway.
    Do you agree that there could be any remnants under Warren St ? If so how can we prove these remnants exist ?

    Excellent video man. Fellow NY’er here. It’s so enjoyable walking around the city catching glimpses of forgotten eras. Looking forward to more of you exploring secrets lost to time.

    I've always been interested in the subway since I was a kid and the old Subway Restaurants had the drawings on the wall. I've read through all the information there is on the line. It is interesting in the films, there are 2 references to the subway, Ghostbusters II and a Fievel movie. This is the best film I've seen so far. I was wondering if you got the green light to make a small hole in the brick wall and see if you can see what's behind it? I'm excited to see what you do next in this project.

      I will look into the Fievel appearance I never knew it was mentioned in this movie ! I am hoping to be able to get the green light to go behind the brick sometime around June as I will be setting up a meeting with the owner of 258 Broadway. If so I will document this so you all can see what we find ! Stay tuned !

    I like the borescope method! Great thinking to take a peek down the grate!

    • @kbhastheanswer
      @kbhastheanswer  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you ! It was a cheap boroscope but was 20 feet long and got the job done.
      Definitely looked a little crazy sticking that long cable / pvc pipe in the subway vent. But nobody stopped to bother me, I love NYC.
      There are no utilities in this specific vent which made it relatively safe ;)

      @@kbhastheanswer Yeah, getting electrocuted would put a damper on your day lol Besides if anyone asks just be like "i dropped something, wanted to see if it was visible so I can fish it out!" Or do the GB II defense "well there are so many holes in First Avenue, we didn't think anyone would notice".

      @@parallaxspectre haha, as a matter of fact, one guy did ask me “what am I looking for ?”
      I told him the honest truth, that I am looking for remnants of an abandoned subway from the 19th century and this guy did not suspect anything and was interested in what I was searching for… If worse things came to worse I’d take your advice though :P

    Didn't the Long Island Rail Road have an earlier tunnel under Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn?!

    • @klmnopqrs
      @klmnopqrs 4 месяца назад +1

      Yep! It was sealed for good in 2010 for "safety concerns" and has the Guinness world record for being the oldest subway tunnel on the planet. The story is ever so interesting and there's still an abandoned locomotive in it that's rumored to hold a diary of the guy that shot Lincoln

    Thank you for this great informative video! I have been exploring this for 6 yeas now, and even got a librarian from Cornell to provide me with a never-before-seen photo of the tunnel shield being stored OUTDOORS in the winter. I guess we can surmise that the tunnel shield succumbed to the natural elements...
    I believe there may be remnants of the iron tunnel remaining. Ground penetrating radar could work, along with drilling holes and trying to use bendable cameras.

    Thanks a lot for your investigation. This is really interesting, a real piece of history. From your last video i was not getting why we can see the rounded corner of the brick wall but not the round tunnel entrance. Seems that it was all burried under concrete. Do all the grids along the street leads to the tunnel ?

    • @kbhastheanswer
      @kbhastheanswer  Год назад +3

      Thank you for the feedback. The subway vents on the modern day sidewalk from the corner of Warren St. to Murray St. running along Broadway most likely lead down into the modern day City Hall Station. I figure these vent rooms are all connected, next time I visit I will take a look into the vent at Murray St. to confirm this. The majority of the Beach Tunnel was confirmed to be demolished from Murray St. up to where the Home Life Insurance Building ends. If there was a vent that would lead to a part of the Beach Tunnel that still exists it would be the corner vent at Warren St. or the one I showed in the video. This corner vent is the approx location of where Dixon cast iron entrance was.

I recently became a nytransit member and will be doing an update on the search for the Beach Tunnel with a visit to City Hall Station if you are interested I’ll be making this update video by the end of 2023. I’m hoping to get in contact with those who know more about the Broadway subway construction than I do and see if it could really be plausible that the Dixon entrance could still exist. What do you think, do any Beach remnants remain under Warren St? Have you ever visited the site ?

      @@kbhastheanswer yeah I do write rough scripts for my voiceovers but maybe it would be easier if I were to write a more thought out script and rehearse it abit.
